Current Nihilism is freedom. To be without purpose is to be free of the oppression of destiny. To be without cause is to be free to make your own. Woe to he who has an outside reason to be. For he is a slave.

Let's not go too far off the deep end. They do have to fit inside the box. And in spite of just how big this thing is, and it's big, it can actually be kind of cramped in here.

I can agree to that compromise.

But life is empty. Always has been and always will be. It's just a way to pass the time until you die and vanish forever into blissful oblivion. So like don't leave for tomorrow what you can do today.

Of course not. But you can't consistently get it out of human writers either. That's why you read all the millions of manuscripts sent to you by would be Tolstoys and Tolkiens and pick the good stuff.

Bio

Long ago in the distant past there was only color. Color to be loved, to be hated, color to please thoughts and corrupt minds. Color to color but newer shape. And than one day everything changed. We do not speak of this event nor of the times thereafter. For they were dark times when color took shape and shape rejected color. To this day the two remain separate, ever touching but newer becoming one. With one exception.

What you see before you is the purple cube of the cosmos. The merger of shape and color and ultimate avatar of the color purple in its physical form. Its N-dimensional form exists beyond your comprehension leaving but a shadow in the form of a cube for you to perceive. A cube with right angles and yet no sharp edges.

It's guardian, a being of it and yet distinct from it and one with it all at the same time dwells within. Or perhaps they dwell together, or just dwell. The later is most certainly true these days a the cube orbits earth having after an eternity in space discovered the internet and its endless supply of cat videos. Now the two orbit hungrily in search of satellites to consume so as to feed its insatiable hunger for cute.

Here is a simple question for anyone that is a prolific GM. How much if at all do you plan out your games in advance? That is to say if you have a good idea for a setting and a stuff like a general goal just how much planning do you put in for things like the main quest, NPC's and sidequests and how much is improvisation?

I am curious to hear your perspective on this.
Ok. Posted. Sorry for the delay.

Also I did not expect it to be this long. But that's what happens when you have 4 days worth of content bubbling in your mind and no time to write them. Stuff adds up.

At least I hope it demonstrates the direction I want to take the character in. Well that and the fact that she has zero support from her family on this, is on edge already and you guys are goofing off which is getting on her nerves. She'll get used to you eventually.

And yes, it is more than likely that she is in fact an undiagnosed pyromaniac.
As this commotion was going on a young unremarkable woman slipped into the line behind them. Elisabet was not at all surprised she had not been noticed and indeed held it as a rather good thing all things considered. All things considered these girls were not the sort of crowd she much cared to associate with. And to think this whole day started so well...

She got up early this morning as she usually did. Sleeping in even once being a habit incompatible with her views of excellence. Her parents were not there to greet her, having already left for work. But she didn't mind. She was used to it at this point. If anything it was a bit nostalgic. For two years now she had left for work pretty much when they did and being abandoned in the morning reminded her of the old days back in school. Fitting, considering where she was going today.

Still as she made her self breakfast Elisabet couldn't but wonder about what must have being going through their heads. Elisabet knew her mother and father both disapproved of her life choices. And she understood why. Having your daughter go out into the battlefield to risk life and limb against the unyielding mechanical horde was not something any sane parent took to gladly. And unlike most they had had a front row seat in just what sort of nightmares made those machines tick. Not to mention the stuff issued to their own troops.

Truth be told Elisabet had little doubt that the reason why they pushed her so hard during school and than into a job as their assistant was to share that view with her. To peel away that veil of youthful romance and reveal the dark sordid underbelly of the war. But if that really was their intent it had failed. Her standing here was proof enough of that.

Still, she could not begrudge them for trying. Just as she could not do so for them leaving early for work. Even if it did hurt, deep inside, just a little bit.

Moving swiftly along her arrival here was uneventful. The walk to school was nothing to speak off and her entry into the hall equally fraught with ambiguity. It all went down from there.

As the principal held his speech Elisabet could not help but wince internally. The old man was spouting the same sort of thing every parent and teacher did throughout her life, only with a tint of government propaganda. Not that she mind that in particular. A respectable institution like this academy obviously needed to keep and enforce standards of responsibility and discipline. She was all up for that. There was a place and a time for having fun and a place and time for being serious and respectable. But the way the others, even the teacher immediately after reacted was just cringe.

Really, did nobody here take this thing seriously? Anyone? Aaand that is where we return to the beginning and the butplanting demon girl.
*sigh* "Why do I even bother?" she thought to her self even as she had to consciously restrain her hand from slapping her face. "Of course they wouldn't."
When the posters at the recruitment office said everyone here would be "special" she dared hope for but a moment that it was the other kind of special, the good kind. Just comes to show that no matter how smart one is hope is a sure way to end up being wrong.

Still, things could be worse. The girls could be in her class.

...

Oh.

This flurry of thoughts which followed weren't pretty. Indeed they were unladylike enough that they bear not repeating here. Sufficed to say that as far as first impressions go this was not a good one. Maybe mother and father were right after all. Maybe war really wasn't a place for a smart girl like her self.

The whole thing distracted her for much of the time after that. So much so that she made an almost deliberate attempt not to pay attention to what was going on around her. She just had to get through this, settle in, go to class and than she would get to explode stuff. And all would be well with the world.

Fire... it always did relax her so.
I have the post done. Also my character sheet. Posting the char sheet right now. Will post the post as soon as I do some proof checking and finish eating dinner. Which I can finally do now that the source of my previous ailment has quite literally been torn out of my jaw.
Cheering... the crowd was cheering as a blast of energy ripped through the smooth concrete that made up the arena floor. A moment sooner and the champion would have taken it on the chest. But as it stood he moved effortlessly out of the way leaving the dark purplish ray of light to pass safely into the ground behind him.

"Not bad. But you'll have to move faster to hit me."

The old devil was right. Well, old might not have been the best name for it. But that's what everyone called him for he had been fighting and wining since before a lot of them were born. The world champion was in truth a man in his fifties. Tall, handsome and built like a god with a pair of forward curving horns polished to reflect every speck of light pointing calmly at his opponent. Not that calm was on offer today.

Not waiting for a reply he lunged forward unleashing his ki into a devastating blade like strike. But the alien was too fast. Just as the champion before him he moved out of the way effortlessly letting the attack fly past before responding with a swift kick which it self was dodged.

The crowd was loving the display and so was Mia. She sat there, smiling, her eyes transfixed by the flurry of motions most of the crowd could barely see. The old man was amazing. The movement of his body, the way his puffed up hair seemingly on his own to evade the strikes it all spoke of a grace and prowess few were able to achieve. Even the thick mustache curving like a black centipede around his mouth seemed to have a life of its own. Mia sincerely hoped that she would look half as good when she reached his age.

"Why are you really here? You are holding back on something." Words followed by a flying fist.
"Don't play dumb." The alien chucked even as he stepped out the way of the attack.
"You Oni didn't really think you could hide here?"
A dozen more blows followed.
"We... are... not... hiding." The champions responding cutting as he did in with a strike between each word.
"So you really don't know than? A pity...."
"You'll just have to die stupid than."

Mia woke up on the floor drenched in cold sweat. It took all of her strength not to scream even as the last memory of her dream faded away. She tried to grab onto the memory but couldn't. And it was gone.

Angrily she looked around the small room she was in to find something to smash before, having found nothing she sat dejectedly on the pile of rubber training mats she called a bed. She needed a shower, and a hot meal. *sigh* And a hug...

Yesterday when they all left for the city she didn't really now what to do. The place was abandoned and demolished. And for all her cheerful talk of shopping before Mia was not exactly accustomed to looting through rubble left behind by the dead. And so whilst the others (hopefully) spent their time productively for a long while she just flew around aimlessly looking for something, anything really to catch her eye.

Eventually she found a sports supply store, or was it maybe a gym? Maybe both? The place had taken a blast during the invasion which shattered the glass and set most of everything that was flammable inside ablaze. Still as much as it was a mess it felt just familiar enough for her to let her guard down and collapse in the supply room in the back.

What followed was a night of on and off sleep, tossing, turning and bouts of hunger quenched only by the occasional half scorched protein bar. At least the taste wasn't terrible.

Getting up from her makeshift bed the first the she noticed it was morning. The black clouds had lifted slightly allowing a single ray of sunlight to penetrate through the shattered glass and into the back. The second thing she noticed was her stomach. There had to be some decent food around here...

Under the first rays of the rising sun Mia made her way through the city streets quickly discovering she was in a residential district and deciding that the time had come to hit up the occasional shop which lay scattered about the place.

Quickly she had picked out a supermarket and found some canned food, which she ate cold managing to cut her self in the process followed soon thereafter by a capsule purse which she filled with cosmetics shamelessly pilfered from the discount isle. It wasn't the quality she was used to but neither was the meal, nor the mirror ripped off a wrecked automobile that she used as a compact to fix her hair. Just one more thing she would have to get used to.

A couple hours later she arrived at the agreed upon meeting place. Awake, fed and mostly presentable. And above all definitively up for some revenge.
I'll be off work in about two hours and than I'll post.
And welcome in. As someone in almost your exact situation I must say that you'll fit right in. And I wish you all the best here. Hopefully you'll find as much fun as I have.
If nothing else you guys have finally helped me find the formula for my character. Those last posts of yours are just inspiring. The post shall be up immediately once I get off work.
Well
Not exactly the capital city.
Let's say like a 30 minute walk away from it.

Close enough for my needs. Also I am not feeling well for some reason. So I'll try and post something but it might have to wait until tomorrow morning. Sorry but like something is wrong with me.
