The latter of the paired dances came to an end and it was announced that everyone was free to choose who to dance with or where to go for next hour of the ball. Food and wines were still available and music would continue to be played. People began to unpair from each other and move back towards those they arrived with to either dance or chat. The music once again changed to a jolly, upbeat folk tune and people began to cheer and dance around without a care in the world.

"What a thrilling name! You must be some sort of hero!" Risa exclaimed excitedly. She tilted her head as she listened and smiled, "I'm glad simply my name holds so much to you. I am honored to come from a lineage of kind and brave rulers. I hope one day to do as much good as they did." She spun around gracefully, having had her fair share of dancing before. Spinning back around, Risa took his paws gently to address him, "My name and where I come from could only mean so much just as for you. We both have the same potential for greatness, Cadence of a Thunderstorm and there are many who need us now. I can tell you're very brave. If you, and whatever allies you do have, want to do something to change things, please come to the small port down northwest of Roshmi. Follow the shoreline. It should be two days trip by foot. If you do not wish to involve yourself in danger then I understand but beware of remaining in Roshmi any longer. Be safe, kind sir."

The vampires seemed to be luckily all dead. The werewolves seemed to luckily be departing so she decided against pursuing them as they were not harming any humans. She knew her fellow hunters would probably have a different opinion but Angel was still deciding on her opinion on werewolves and witches. Angel looked down at Remy as she approached and gently rubbed her shoulder, assuring her she was alright before leading her to the car with her. She knelt down and whispered to her, pleading with her not to tell anyone about the woman in the car because she was their secret friend.

She noted Sean outside and gave him a wave to allow him to observe her and Remy's status as she ushered Remy into the front seat. Once in the car, she looked backward to see the woman curled up in a ball with her painting. "Look. I have to report back to the HQ but I'll pick you up some food. Just hide back there and don't talk if anyone comes over. I'll take you wherever you want to go first thing in the morning. Don't try any weird shit or else. I wouldn't leave the car once we get there if I were you either. " She grabbed a blanket from the side seat and threw it over the witch.

Angel picked up some food and gave it to Shay on the way to the HQ and brought Remy back inside with her once they arrived.

The next morning, she hopped into the car once again and turned to her. "So. Care to share?"

Risa's eyes lit up as a beautiful feline demihuman came up to her. He looked so soft! She was caught a bit by surprise when he bowed and started waving her hands as she blushed, "Oh no, no. Please. My family has no power anymore. You can just call me Risa. You are too kind." He continued to speak to her after a pause with words that gave Risa more credit than she thought she deserved. She smiled at him and gently took his hand, "The honor is truly mine to get to dance with such a gentleman!"Risa let him do the honor of leading the dance.

She pondered his words about dressing boldly. It was perhaps bold to dress in a way to garner attention with her risky position, but she felt in her heart that not doing so would have been the cowardly choice. There was no reason to hide who she was or who her family was. She had not done anything wrong and she was proud of who she was and if she was to exemplify herself as one of the leaders of this rebellion, then she should not make them follow a coward. It seemed this demihuman seemed to admire this choice and she hoped many others would appreciate it as well. Risa did not want to let anyone down.

"My name is Risa! What's yours-Ooh your fur is so fluffy! "She got distracted mid-sentence by the softness of his fur once again and petted the fur on his hand. "How lovely!"

Millie stared at him in confusion when he called her entertaining. She wondered for a moment if he thought of her entertaining in the same way someone considered a clown entertaining. However, then his next words convinced her she was overthinking and she beamed at him. There was doubt still somewhere in the back of her mind but she wanted so bad to believe his words that she ignored it. Things had not blown up in her face for once. He knew what she did and he did not care. Things could just continue as they were without any guilt! She suddenly threw her arms around him and hugged him with excitement. "I'm so sorry. I really love you! I won't cast a spell on you ever again." She did not let go and hugged him for a long time before getting up and beginning to finish off his dinner as she answered his final question, "I believe a few weeks now... But... I've made you your favorite soup!"

She used a ladle to spoon it into a bowl and handed him the bowl, her body shaking with anxiety. Things were okay now right?

The girl did not say much other than mutter something that clearly didn't answer Angel's question. The fedora guy, who lost his dumb hat thankfully, was now telling her to ease up and focus on the more pressing matters. What he did not understand was that if they didn't locate the source, then these vampire attacks would only escalate from here. The annoying witch was wasting her time and he was right that she had to turn her attention back to the attack going on, so she quickly scrambled her brain for a solution, finally speaking to the dark-haired woman without even a sideways glance toward the other guy.

"Listen. It's really important I find out where Alexander is so he can be stopped otherwise these vampire attacks are probably going to become a weekly event. There are hunters on the way and they will take you in for questioning and who knows what else. If you work with me..." Angel was speaking lowly a, but hastily, so only the witch could hear as she let go of her wrist and then took out her car keys and pressed the unlock button. "I'll make sure you do not get captured. Black Toyota right in front of the school. I'll meet you there once I make sure all these vampires are dead."

Angel turned away from her and faced the man who spoke to her earlier, replying finally,"You're right." She glanced in Remy's direction to make sure she was okay before moving forward to launch herself at one of the backs of one of the last few vampires. She was able to propel herself up with her speed and wrap her legs around his waist stabbing into his throat viciously as the vampire grabbed upward at her, taken a bit by surprise as he yelled out. Angel finished him off after a tussle and a few stabs. The vampire crumpled beneath her and she quickly refound her footing. The pain was radiating from her shoulder and she had not had a chance to stop the bleeding yet, so she was hoping not too many. There seemed to not be many left at all that she could see. However, the number of werewolves seemed to have at least doubled somehow.

”Silly girl.”

Millie's head shot up, unburying her face from her hands in an instant as his voice filled the kitchen. The blood drained from her face and she could swear her heart had stopped beating at that moment. She had not expected him to be home already. How much had he seen? His reaction to the spell's removal had been a moment she had lived in her dreams countless times yet she had never even given a thought to what could happen if he caught her in the act. Dread filled her and made her skin prickle as if an icy chill had come over her, numbing her brain. She could not bring herself to look at him as he approached. She heard the sound of something tumbling into the trash and knew what it had been without having to glance over. Her body stiffened and she gripped her knees. It might have been possible to convince herself it was just a nightmare until the moment he took her chin and forced her to look into his eyes as he asked her if she had been casting spells.

Then it became all too real.

She felt the urge to swallow but would not dare to do so. Her adrenaline began to surge so fast she thought she would vomit, but she could not bring herself to move. Even all these weeks of love could not erase the truth buried underneath him: this man was quite literally a cold-blooded killer. It felt as if her fear was a being who knelt in front of her in Marius's very spot, choking her tighter and tighter with his every word, foreshadowing her incoming doom.

Millie caught a glimpse of his fangs as his head descended toward her and she shut her eyes tightly, trying to force her eyelids down with every force of her being as her body scrunched up as if she could retreat inward and phase through the cabinet.

Then a simple kiss, much like any other he had bestowed her, reached her lips. Millie's eyes fluttered open as he pulled away.

” There, that should be sufficient punishment. Now don’t do it again.”

Millie stared at him without any ability to compute what was happening. It felt impossible to read him. Was he not angry with her? Was he furious and plotting something worse? Tears spilled down her cheeks as guilt broke through her wall of fantasy she had built up for so long. How could she have done this? Her voice was barely above a whisper as she let words finally tumble from her lips. "I-... I'm so so sorry... I was just scared. I-I needed to escape. I couldn't bring myself to hurt you. I thought if I took it off you'd hate me and maybe you do so if you want to kill me I understand. " Again, she shut her eyes to brace the worst.

Angel could not even say she was surprised when she watched Remy climb onto the back of the wolf. A surge of fear went through her but the wolf did nothing to hurt her so it quickly eased up. She sighed and decided it would be safer for Remy to be on an intimidating werewolf rather than running around this chaos. Sudden warmth caressed her skin and she whirled to watch fireballs zoom through the air as if to confirm her thoughts. This is actually insane. When had it turned into a supernatural zoo? Angel had no idea where all these freakshows were coming from but she had to admit if they all had a common enemy, she was glad they were here.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

She decided to take a quick assessment of the room to see what she was dealing with. The fedora-hat man was apparently a hunter, which was strange as she usually recognized most of them in town. Angel guessed he was apart of the Holy Saviors or some other off-brand knock-off hunter group. There was no need to assess him for more than a few seconds. Then she found the source of the fireballs. "What the fuck?"Angel uttered out loud without realizing it, making a few heads turn as they were running for the exit.

The dark-haired pyromaniac was the spitting image of the woman in the painting that she had glanced at while doing her rounds around the exhibit. It had been gaining quite a cult following, gathering the biggest crowd. There was no dispute. This was the same woman. If that was the case, then this girl had escaped somehow. This meant she could possibly know the way back. She was about to make her way over when she heard someone yell.

“Quick, shoot that damn wolf!”

The "damn wolf" the speaker was referring to was the one holding a certain Remy on his back so Angel ignored her impulse to run to the dark-haired woman immediately and first rammed herself into the gun-wielding vampire who she discovered as a vampire. Though she certainly did not trust the wolf, she was not risking Remy, and he was also useful for now. The vampire held his ground and quickly bit into Angel's shoulder ferociously. She cried out in pain as his bite sunk deep into her skin, radiating sharp pain through her upper body. The pain only pushed her fury as she got to work stabbing the back of the vampire before he could retaliate with his superior strength against her. Angel did not bat an eye nor display the slightest hint of remorse as the body slunk to the floor. Angel kicked the vampire aside without mercy.

Not caring to even cover her wound as blood trickled down her upper arm, she made her way like a bat out of hell towards Shay and grabbed her by the wrist, "How did you escape Sanguine Moon?! Do you know how to get back there? Tell me!" Angel's voice rose an octave as she assailed the poor witch with demands.
This is...a lot...and a little overwhelming, but by the gods I adore what I'm seeing.

I am definitely interested in joining, but want to dive deeper in the morning before I commit to anything. This RP looks incredible and I would love to be a part of it.

I'd definitely go Sinclair Foundation for my character 🙂.

We'd love to have you. Join the discord when you can and I can help perhaps make things simpler for you :)

Flames engulfing a house with ravenous hunger on par with starved hyenas
Smoke billowing into the sky for all the world to see
A scream of ear-deafening despair

There was not much Emelie could do to escape these flashes but it was always that scream that rescued her from them. The hot air caressing her skin felt the same as it had at that moment. She leaned her palms on the counter-top, watching as tendrils of smoke emerged from the pot as the soup heated on the stove. Her hair was tied up in an overly neat bun and a frilly white apron laid over her blue dress. She lowered the heat and took a few steps away from the stove to move to the fridge. The container she pulled out from the back of the freezer did not contain ice cream like one might have hoped. After pulling a glove onto her right hand, she opened the container and took out a small, cold heart.

She gripped the heart of a frog in her gloved hand soon enough just as tightly as she held on to everything else in her life. In her other hand, she clasped a small bracelet, one of the many trinkets and gifts Marius showered her with. All she had to do now was cast the spell. These were the gifts she had given Marius nightly: dinner and a love spell. With each spell, she could feel a hole in her heart grow with the same force the love hit Marius. His words, his gifts, and his hugs all slowly filled the void less and less yet it felt like stopping would only break her heart into a million pieces. The feeling was like a vice on her heart, squeezing with just enough pressure to bring continuous pain.

Would it be from the dark magic? Or would it be from the fact she had to force this on him?

This was a cold, ruthless member of a vampire mafia. Had he really had ever loved anyone? He could never truly love her. Each time she cast the spell and the man went over heels for her, it was a reminder of that. Their life together was just a hopeless dream that she was too scared to wake up from. Millie had been casting these spells as if she had been taking sleeping pills to keep herself in this dream.

She deserved to be happy. After everything, there had to be someone that stayed at her side. Everyone she had dared let herself grow close to would always disappear even after she gave them everything. Marius seemed happier like this: not hurting anyone and just spending his days in the blissful glow of love. This was better than the violent life he had lived. He lived a life with a girl who would do anything and everything for him.

This is our peace.

Her mind went through the same circles nightly, trying to rationalize a way to run away from the guilt.

Teardrops fell on to the items in her hands, puddling in small clear pearls on top of the heart. "Why am I always hesitating?" She whispered under her own breath. Who was to say this did not count as real? What was real love anyway? If it made them both happier, why was it wrong?

That was when a voice from the past echoed in her mind. "Love is when you are willing to put others before yourself."

Millie bit down on her lip. She had tried so hard to forget that voice and yet here he was, surfacing in her mind to make things harder just as he had always done. Putting the other person hadn't worked out the time she had gotten that advice.

Maybe I'm just unworthy of love.

Glancing down at her shaking hands, she finally threw the heart on the ground and slid back against the island counter to sit on the floor, still clutching the bracelet. There was only maybe another half hour before the spell would wear off on Marius. There was no denying the pain this was bringing her and would ultimately be brought to the man she loved if she continued this selfish charade. The chance he'd just kill her when he found out was there and perhaps that was for the best.
