Character development and interaction based | May contain heavy themes

“Some people are so afraid to die that they never begin to live”

“Unfortunately, due to unseen circumstances, the southbound train due to arrive at twelve A.M. will now be expected to arrive at one A.M. We apologize for the wait. Thank you for your patience and thank you for choosing-.” The intercom abruptly shuts off, leaving the station in an eerie silence. The clock reads 12:03.

THEME

A thick fog hangs stiffly over a near empty train station located in the middle of a large, nameless city; its passengers waiting for the same southbound train that, although delayed for unknown reasons, never arrives. Time passes but the clock never changes, only continuing to flash the same time in bright red numbers while the speakers ahead only whisper out the annoying sound of elevator music. The night sky is accompanied only by a few stars and a crescent moon, occasionally covered by wisps of clouds hardly visible to the eye. There is no wind, but the fog makes it chilly. No one else arrives and not another word is announced from above, leaving its only passengers to sit and wait.

The inner city is very well kept, all buildings up to date and modern, the moonlight reflecting off of the many windows of the skyscrapers that, from an angle, seem to lean inward. The street lamps glowed dimly, occasionally flickering as people walked under them. The city was unnervingly quiet, strangely no cars were visible and though some businesses were still open, there was no lively chatter or bustling faces. Soundless and dead, the inner city was no more than a ghost town.

The outer city was much more a wreck, a complete 180 compared to that of the inner city. The houses were in shambles and looking barely livable, the streets were broken and almost non-existent. Few shops less than thrived here, most of them covered in graffiti and/or trash spewn out across the front of the stores. Many abandoned buildings sat lifeless and broken down, some of them containing caution tape across their entrances. The people who lived in the outer city seemed more aware of their surroundings, but they stared with a piercing hostility that made it nerve wracking to stay too long. They never talked about the inner city and comments they made resembled that of a premade script. Repeating the same thing over and over, not giving much of anything else.

Cold and unwelcoming, the nameless city seemed to weirdly shift to the thoughts of its inhabitants, creating new places and subtly changing directions whenever eyesight was directed away. In the distance, a speaker's intercom screeched to life, a quiet voice saying: ”Welcome to Purgatory,” before clicking off.

PLOT

Welcome to a role play about life after death, closely following the thoughts and actions of a small group of characters after their untimely deaths. Not being able to move on, the cast is thrown into purgatory resembling a city similar to the one that the characters passed away in. This is a story heavily dependent on character interaction and backstory, though there will be random plot scenarios and important decisions that will affect them in the future. Welcome to purgatory.

RULES

â… .
For a posting schedule, I would like at least one post per week, and I don’t mind more than that. I’m pretty busy myself and I like to write detailed posts, so if this goes pretty quick, I can maybe pull 2-3 per week. If you can’t make the schedule, please let me know so I don’t think you ghosted.

â…ˇ.
As for length, I think 2 paragraphs would be enough, since dialogue is one of the most important factors, along with the character's inner thought. That said, please do at least try to make something to go off of, so the roleplay doesn’t go static. Thanks :D

â…˘.
Drama is totally encouraged, it’s always enjoyable to see how characters will interact with tougher individuals, especially since they only have each other now.

â…Ł.
There won’t be a posting list, but try to wait a few posts before writing something else, unless you have an idea to get the group going or something.

â…¤.
Feel free to add anything character related to the plot.

VI.
I’d be nice if the characters were related to at least one other person from their previous life. It’s not mandatory, but it would definitely build tension and add more spice to the plotline. I’ll certainly be reaching out to some of you to talk about that.

VII.
Also, characters don’t remember how they died or how they know each other, that will be revealed little by little throughout the story.

Question. Would you guys want a discord? Might make it a bit easier to talk about important character details and relationships.
@PiePizzle Not yet, I'll be making it soon :D
@PiePizzle Yeah, I dont mind adding one more :) Hopefully you can join, I'd love to have you
Hey it's been a bit since I used this specific form for rps. There use to be an ooc thread separate from interest checks and the roleplay itself. Where will the ooc be?

Hey! For the actual roleplay, I'll be making a seperate thread that contains the ooc and ic. I'm actually going to do that pretty soon đź‘Ś
@This Girlie I was thinking at most 6 characters
This sounds really interesting, are there any open spots?
