Seth looked over at Mamoru and nervously laughed as he rubbed the back of his head and apologized, “Sorry about that. Didn’t mean to rattle off like that.” When she mentioned something about being number one he cocked his head and said, “I’m not really looking to be number one. I’m just looking to help those in need. However, this one hero can’t save the world thing is true, but sometimes hero’s aren’t those with Quarks. Those without them can be heroes as well. At least that what my dad says.”

Another student, Yoshida Kenichi. Jumped in front of them all and proclaimed he was damn sure he had what it took. He rattled off something about the main character seat and Seth laughed, “Yes the main character seat. The one by the window, but a good show will hide the main character until he is needed. So in actuality, every seat could be the main character seat.” His dad was right; this was going to be fun. Knowledgeable, dangerous, and stressful, but fun. Yoshida yelled some more and Seth found himself getting more and more pumped up.

“Yeah, we’ll pass with flying colors!” Seth yelled then recoiled as he realized how loud he yelled it and whispered, “Sorry.” Something about this group made his act like he was with his friends. It was exciting and he kind of liked it.

Mr. Yoshida talked about adopting and express that they could alter their suits. He nodded and tried to rip the sleeves off, but stopped. He then opened his hand and let the silver liquid seep from his hand and morph into scissors. They hardened and he tested them by opening and closing the blades. He nodded before he carefully inserted the bottom blade of the scissors into the fabric. He began to cut through the sleeve until it fell off from the shoulder. The cut was smooth and clean. He then took the scissors and did the same thing to the other sleeve. Once the sleeves were off. He carefully folded them several times neatly and placed them in the pockets of his track suit.

Once his track suit was altered he listened to Mr. Yoshida. Everything he theorized about this training was absolute wrong, but he didn’t mind. This type of training seemed much more realistic than anything he could come up with. Mr. Yoshida described the type of training and noted his team mates and then jumped when a new person seemed to appear from behind them. He let out a sigh and then followed Mr. Yoshida towards their starting point.

As he followed the group, Seth started to think. He could see Mamoru seemed to be thinking as well. He was unsure what his team could do and all he knew was what he could do which meant they needed to know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Mamoru suggested they take point C and he understood her reasoning. The guy named Donny Yang stuttered out he could take point B. it was reckless, but he really didn’t know any of their Quarks.

“Maybe we should know each other’s Quarks and their strengths and weaknesses. This way we can effectively help one another and not go bumbling around,” Seth said before he realized he hadn’t even introduced himself yet. He decided it might be good to know everyone’s name instead of calling hey you. “Names Seth Rush by the way. Figured if we’re going to work together, we should know each other’s name and as for my Quark.” Seth extended his hand and let the silver liquid seep from his skin. It coated his arm up to his elbow and then hardened.

“It’s called Liquid Metal. I can create liquefied metal and hardened it to create weapons or armor,” Seth Explained as he knocked on the metal around his arm to show it had hardened before he added, “However, I can only use it so many times. To create it, I need my own blood to use it.”
For as long as historians could deduce, humanity and Pokémon have lived side by side. Whether it was in times of peace or times of war, Pokémon and humans always seemed to stay side by side through the most horrific of times. However, throughout the years the line between humanity and Pokémon has never blurred. However, that all changed 100 years ago when a mad scientist blurred the lines between the two. During an annual summit to the Pokémon Research Committee. A scientist by the name of Maximilian Strife approached the Pokémon research committee and explained his theory of imperfection. In that theory, he stated that the human form was imperfect since humanity is subjected to diseases, greed, lust, power, etc. To make humanity perfect, he theorized that humanity must be mixed with a being of pure perfection. In his eyes, Pokémon was the purest being of perfection on this planet. He explained that if they backed his project, he could combine human and Pokémon DNA to create a being of pure perfection.

The Pokémon research committee not only dismissed his theory but called him nothing but a whack job. They argued that the lines of Pokémon and humanity should never be blurred or in this case twisted and crossed with one another. In their eyes, his theory was not only unethical but a complete waste of time. He counteracted with the fact that a human Pokémon hybrid could do so much for both human and Pokémon research. The committee unanimously voted down his request and had him thrown out. Word quickly spread of his proposal and his fellow researchers exiled him from any and all of their further research facilities. It seemed this would be the end of his days as a Pokémon researcher. However, one organization saw potential in his work. The organization Helix had sent a spy to the annual summit to find a potential scientist to help with their cause. When they heard about Maximilian’s theory, they jumped at the chance to bring him to their headquarters.

After a night of heavy drinking, Maximilian found himself stumbling back to his home. His career seemed to be over and he did all he could from breaking down and simply ending it all. That night, while in his drunken stupor he was ambushed by hooded figures. He struggled against their grasp for a while before one of them used a blunt object to knock him out. Once he came too, he found himself inside a large padded cell. He sat up only to feel a sharp pain in the back of his head. The door to the cell opened and two hooded figures walked in and ushered him to follow them. Fearing for his life he did what he was told and followed the two into a large dining room where a well-dressed man sat at the table. He ushered Maximilian to sit and as he did, the two hooded figures bowed and left the room. The man at the table introduced himself as Benjamin Cross.

Benjamin explained that the goal of Helix was to create a powerful genetic weapon. They believed a much greater evil lurks beyond the stars. Helix believed that one day this threat will descend down and enslave both humanity and Pokémon. Because the threat has gone unnamed for centuries, Helix called these beings The Phantoms. Once Benjamin read the report for his spy, he knew Maximilian’s research would help in their enviable war with The Phantoms. He offered Maximilian not only funds for his research, but a lab and assistances to aid in his research. Maximilian was dumbfounded that someone was willing to fund his research. He agreed and immediately began working.

For his research to succeed, he needed both human and Pokémon test subjects. Helix and Maximilian knew the test subjects wouldn’t willingly agree to the tests. However, Maximilian knew that moral ethics sometimes have to be sacrificed for the greater good. Helix agreed and began kidnapping people and Pokémon to begin testing. However, the first tests didn’t go according to plan. So many of the humans and Pokémon died during testing, but Maximilian didn’t seem to notice. He would always say: “You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet.” It seemed the further his research went the madder Maximilian became. With every failure, he became more and more unstable. By the time Helix caught on to Maximilian dive into insanity. It was already too late.

One late night in the lab, Maximilian finally accomplished his goal. He found the right combination of Human and Pokémon DNA to create a living, breathing Hybrid he called a Gijinka. He rejoiced and quickly woke up everyone in the headquarters to show off his wonderful creation. Once everyone arrived, he showed off the Gijinka, which was a combination of a kidnaped 12-year-old girl and an Eevee. They marveled at the Gijinka, but what they didn’t know was Maximilian wasn’t done with just creating only a few Gijinkas.

Several months later, Helix members slammed against the barricaded door of the lab to stop Maximilian from going forth with his master plan. He had been secretly working on a machine that would warp and transform all of humanity into Gijinkas. The machine would give each human stands of random Pokémon DNA to make them a perfect being. When the door to the lab finally crashed open, it was too late. Maximilian activated his machine which sent large waves of purple miasma into the atmosphere. However, in his state of insanity, he overlooked key calculations and the miasma only changed a fraction of humanity into Gijinkas and because of missing calculations the machine exploded taking the whole headquarters with it. Since the headquarters was hidden inside a mountain, the explosion looked like the mountain erupted and shot out flames into the sky.

Those affected by the machine were changed into Gijinkas and outcast for society for being monsters. For years the Gijinkas lived in the forests away from human society. They feared the humans would attack them. However, that all changed with the predictions of Helix coming true. Shadow beasts seemed to appear from nowhere and attack both Humanity and Pokémon. It seemed the Phantoms were going to enslave humanity and Pokémon until the Gijinkas joined the fight. They might have feared humanity, but knew the Phantoms posed an even bigger threat. With Humans, Pokémon, and Gijinkas fighting the phantoms, they were able to push back the Phantoms and seemed to make them disappear from whence they came. After that, the Gijinkas that were outcast from human society were accepted back.

To thank the Gijinkas for their assistance in the war between the Phantoms, a festival was created. It was called the Phantasm Festival. There, every Gijinka was honored with medals and statues in their honor. The Festival was held in the very first city the Phantoms attacked: Vermillion City. After that, the festival would proceed as planned, but 50 years ago. It was announced that the festival would move from city to city each year in honor of every Gijinka around the world. This year, the Phantasm Festival finds itself once again in Vermillion City. The preparation for the festival is going as planned, but unbeknownst to everyone. An old foe has awakened from its long hibernation and will once again ravage the planet. However, that’s not the only threat that has crept from the ashes of defeat.

“A little bit of both I wager,” Seth said over hearing the question. He looked around at the construction site and began to talk out loud, “If this was some sort of obstacle course with a villain at the end. It wouldn’t be that hard. Just figure out who can just bust through the obstacles like a juggernaut while the rest of us follow suit. Once at the finish we just over power the villain while the one who busted through all the obstacles takes a break. However, I don’t think it’s that simple.” Seth looked over at Toni and added, “You know.”

Seth turned back to the Construction site and began to explain, “If we need to find the villain and obtain him. Then there must be a reason why. Most villains who hide out in places like these with hostages usually try and negotiate their escape so they don’t get imprisoned. However, what if this isn’t that type of situation? What if the villain split the hostages up and the hero needs to choose which group to save while sacrificing the other.” He turned back to Toni and continued, “think about it: one group of hostages are political figures, another is simple civilians, and the third is school children. The hero would have to choose one group while sacrificing the others.” Seth once again turned to face the construction site and thought for a moment.

“However, that type of plan wouldn’t work if there are multiple heroes. The one hero the villain wants to make the choice can simply ask for help and the villain's plan is useless,” Seth explained. He narrowed his eyes and a sly smile formed on his face and he said, “Unless the hostages are decoys for the bigger plan. If the villain can bring manikins to life and make them act like real people and make them act like hostages. Then he could get one or more heroes to try and save them since they wouldn’t know their manikins.” Seth’s smile grew as he thought more about it.

“Lure as many heroes as you can to a place like this and rig it with explosives and take out as many as you can. A Sadistic enough villain might be able to pull that off, but the true question is: if that’s what we’re training for?” Seth explained before he added, “It’s like working on a car with an unknown defect. You could find the problem that isn’t so hard to fix or find an even worse problem that could make the car a ticking time bomb.” Seth sighed as another thought came into his mind.

“Or I could be over thinking this training and it’s just as simple as find the hostages and get back to the start in time with the hostages in one piece,” Seth said.

While everyone in the class was all over making friends and chatting. Seth had found a vacant seat and sat down. He wasn’t all that good at making friends. He did have some back home, but he’d known them since kindergarten. However, it took quite a while before he became friends with the. It wasn’t that he was anti-social. On the contrary, he loved hanging out with his friends, but he found more solace working on cars than anything else. When the bell rang his home room teacher walked in and he noticed he looked a little annoyed. He made the class take their seats and wrote his name on the board. Akihito Yoshida Seth repeated to himself to remember the name. He wasn't good with remembering names.

“L guardian?” Seth whispered to himself. He had heard the name, but he wasn’t too sure on what he could do. He had heard of the heroes on the news, but he rarely ever watched it. He was more into the car shows and auto racing. When he did go online, it was to research auto parts and find new music for his audio player. Mr. Yoshida showed them the track suit and he wanted to ask a question but saw he was already on his way out. Better not until we get to the training grounds Seth thought. When the teacher dismissed them, he picked up his duffle bag and headed towards the locker rooms.

As he scanned the lockers, he found the one with number three on it. He opened it and found a track suit inside. He placed his duffle bag inside the locker as metal tools clanged inside. As he began to change he began muttering to himself, “Glade they gave me this locker number.” the number three was considered his lucky number and also his favorite racers number. The suit felt a little loose, but he figured it was better than tight. He was about to tear off the sleeves when he stopped and said, “Better wait, Mr. Yoshida might not take to kindly to the track suits being ripped.” He would wait and ask Mr. Yoshida about taking off the sleeves at the training facility. When he was done changing he closed the locker and let out a long sigh. Here we go. He thought to himself before he started to walk out of the locker room and towards training area.

[at Training Grounds Echo]

“Whoa,” Seth said as he walked up to the training grounds and towards Mr. Yoshida. As he walked he spun and looked around. A smile formed on his face as he said, “Look at all this! I bet you could find some killer scrap metal here.” He then stopped and asked himself, “I wonder if they’ll let me look around on my down time and allow me to take some scrap metal from here to my Dad.” With that out of the way, he walked up with the others and stood to wait for Mr. Yoshida’s orders.

“Um, Mr. Yoshida,” Seth began before he continued, “would it be possible to take off the sleeves of the track suit after class? Sleeves sometimes hinder my Quirk. If that’s ok?” Seth didn’t want to annoy him any more than he seemed to be and hoped he wasn’t stepping over any lines when asking the question.
If the nurse used a needle or other sharp object to get at his blood, he didn’t pay attention to it. He had a phobia of needles and as he got closer to the nurse. He closed his eyes, put his head down, and sprinted faster until he heard the floor of the hallway under his feet. He opened his eyes and saw he was inside the long hallway behind the nurse. He started to slow down to a trot as he let out a sigh.

“One obstacle down, about a million to go,” Seth said to himself as he proceeded to his class. He then realized what time it was thanks to a clock on the wall and cursed, “Shit! I’m going to be late!” he started to sprint again. He pushed himself to the point his legs felt like they were going to fall off. The burning sensation in his legs made him wince as he felt the cramps start. When he got to the stairs he took them three at a time before he made it to the right floor.

Seth saw the door to his class and quickly used one more spurt of adrenaline to get him through the thresh hold. He ran into the class and put on the brakes. His new sneakers made him slide on the floor for a few feet before he came to a stop. He stood like a statue; a metal statue since he had forgotten he still had metal on his body. He quickly looked up at the clock on the wall.

8:29

“Oh thank god,” Seth said with a metallic twang in his voice. That made him realize he had left the metal on his body. He looked at his arm and said, “Whoops, forgot I had you on” the metal liquefied and seeped back into his body. The duffle bag he had been holding slipped from his shoulder and hit the floor as metal tools clanged inside. The sound made him jump and when he found the source he laughed at himself, “probably should have left some of you at home.” He then picked up his bag and found a vacant seat.

A white El Camino with blue racing stripes going up the middle pulled up to the Academy gates. Seth looked at the gates as they opened and sighed. His father placed a hand on his shoulder and asked, “You alright?”

“Yeah, just a bit nervous is all” Seth said with a weak smile.

“You’ll be fine as long as you listen to the instructors,” Seth’s dad reassured him. Seth took another deep breath before he opened the door and moved to the back of the bed of the car and took out a few bags he had brought with him. The others had most likely gotten to where ever he was staying. These bags had what he felt the most important items inside them. He looked towards the school before heading towards the gates. He turned to his dad who waved at him. Seth waved back before he set off into the gates.

The place was in disarray. Many students scrabbled to get inside the school so they wouldn’t be late. Seth checked his watch and cursed; “Shit!” he ran towards the right wing and was greeted by a woman who looked like a nurse.

"Students! Do you have time for a small check up? I do like to keep my medical records up to date after all...I believe most of you require a blood test." She said as she tapped her needle. There was a horrible sense of dread coming from her, but Seth didn’t pay any attention to it. He was stuck in place as he stared at the needle. He hated needles, had a phobia of them. However, if the school needed to take blood, he thought it might be to help the students in the long run.

He walked up towards the right wing entrance to see a girl already offering the nurse her arm. Suddenly there was a bright light and Seth winced as she shielded his eyes. It was then he realized what this was. This must be a test Seth thought. When the light blinding him dissipated he bolted for the entrance where the nurse was

“I’m sorry ma’am, but I can’t stop for blood work. Maybe later,” Seth said. He knew she would have other needles and utensils to try and get his blood. While he ran, silver liquid began to seep from his skin and coat his body under his clothing. The silver liquid hardened like armor as he ran towards the nurse and the entrance.

Drake felt a warm sensation in his shoulder and around his wound as it slowly began to close. Once she was done, he winced as the pain returned to his shoulder, but not as bad as before. He let out a sigh before he pulled his Rapture pills from his pocket and took two before handing three over to Natasha.

“Give one to Prim. It will help her with her injuries. Use the rest for you,” Drake said before he looked out the window of the Gummi ship into the vast ocean of space. He started to drift into a thought. He knew what was going to happen after all of this. He knew how obsessed Nails was in getting the Shadow Nexus. Now that he knew about an even more powerful strand of it. He knew he’d be more relentless in getting his hands on it. He took a deep breath and said, “Natasha, can I ask you a question?”

“Are you able to alter or erase memories?” Drake asked before he continued, “If so. I’d like to make a deal with you: that woman in the back is my friend Jinx. I want you to alter her memories so that I’m no longer in any of them. In return: you can have whatever you want.” He wasn’t about to just ask for something without explaining his reasoning. So he began to tell her what he was thinking.

“This fight with the Surge Guardians needs to end. Nails knows about the Shadow Nexus Primal. He’ll be more relentless in getting his hands on it. He’ll use more destructive tactics to get what he wants and that means the Surge Guardians will be more aggressive,” Drake Explained before he continued, “So I’m going to end this once and for all. You all need to focus on the Dark Seekers, not on the Surge Guardians. So when we get back to the main ship. I’ll drop all three of you off and finish this war I started so long ago.”

"You all have worlds to save and go back to, but I can't go back to Chrono. There is a law in place that should any person or group tries to stop the government from acquiring new Knowledge. The are deemed, terrorists and executed without trial," Drake explained
