CHARACTER SHEET

We are doing things a bit different in this RP. Your character sheet is going to be a narrative into which we ask you to work a description of your character. Some of their motivation should leech in there as well. @Pagemaster and myself have our sheets below as an example and I hope it helps you understand what we are looking for!

Thank you!

The year is 1004 A.D, the transitional period between the early and high middles ages. World power has long since converted from Roman control and Christianity is the new invading force of this era, causing many peoples to leave behind their gods of old, whether that be through peaceful means... or not. The technologies of the world are still fairly young as armies continue to fight by more primitive means. The people of this age choose to combat with swords, axes, bows and arrows, spears, and lances.

Thetford burns as the victorious Danish army hunts defeated East Anglian through the grassy knolls of an England long past. Thatch homes of the poor quickly turned to ashes while the sturdier buildings made of stone and timber stood strong against the test of war. For some, the fierce battle brought word fame, valuable loot, and countless slaves to raise their status amongst a people who prize strength and power above little else. For others, the battle has left them without a lord or husband to hold their loyalty to an island filled with countless other disparate souls and don’t have the desire to carve out a name for themselves amongst the power hungry brethren of their time. These particular people crave a new beginning, a chance to build an honest living for themselves through their own strength and knowledge, rather than reaping the spoils of another.

Rumors have been spreading about newly discovered lands to the West across the vast Atlantic Ocean. Those who pass on such tales speak of lands teeming with timber, fertile soil, and endless rivers. Lands with bounties enough for all if you’re willing to take the risk. Word has been spread around Thetford of a widow looking to set sail to such land and will take any able bodied man or woman with her that is brave enough to make the journey westward to unknown lands. Such a voyage is for the strong of heart as there is no guarantee of success or a return home.

It is here that the epic of a journey to unknown lands begins....
Something just came to me—since you mentioned Skrælingjar in the OP, how will you depict them? Given the RP setting in the real Americas, will they be based on real Native American/First Nations peoples? And with that in mind, how do you see their conflict with the Norse being portrayed? I think that sort of a conflict is interesting to play with, but I'm a little concerned over the possibility of perpetuating settler-colonialist myths about indigenous people within the RP.

They will be based on real native proto-Inuit people /culture and their conflict we will try to reflect as accurately as possible. Obviously it will be a violent start and how your character decides to interact with native peoples is entirely up to you, but personally, my stance is to develop a partnership. If you mean settler/colonialist myths as being the European concept of it, then that would be incorrect since that was what, 18th century-ish and there isn’t much of a technological difference between the two peoples at this time. They should be respected warriors as you are dealing with people who regularly hunt large aquatic mammals to survive.
Good Evening All!

I see we have interest along with some questions which I am very glad to see! Once a week postings would be great if people can manage, but I do understand that there sometimes can be busy schedules so communication would be appreciated in that regard if we go further than two weeks from the last post.

As for the history vs. myth aspect, in some ways the two go hand in hand if you think about it. There were a lot of concepts in the natural world that couldn’t be explained, so ancient societies had unique ways to cope. So by all means, have your character believe in the myths, engrave runes upon your armor and weapons. Belief gives power and the only reason a religion becomes a myth is because it gets replaced and the people/governments choose to believe in something else. I just wouldn’t want to see this become a fantasy RP.
Nar Shaddaa - Nima Tarkona

Nima sat with her body turned slightly towards the human male that was sitting next to her. As Master Khulbe’s guest, he was mostly engaged in the deal he was trying to strike with the Hutt but occasionally his hazel eyes would wander towards the young female, absorbing her features. She wore a low cut backless top, it’s fabric straps hung delicately from her slender shoulders to provide just enough material to cover her breasts, exposing her cleavage as the plunging neckline reached the base of her sternum. It was gold in color, matching not only her eye color but also the metal accessories that she had worn for the occasion. Her midriff was bare as the hem of her blouse hugged just underneath her last two ribs and was partnered with tight fitting low rise bottoms that were pitch black in color.

While the human sat to her left, to her right was Master Khulbe. He was smaller than your typical Hutt but still had considerable bulk. Passing a green, three-fingered hand across his protruding chin, Khulbe addressed the man sitting next to Nima. He spoke strictly Huttese, so a silver plated protocol droid was present to translate the Hutt’s speech.

“In addition to your typical smuggle runs, I have a particularly lucrative venture for you Kamen, should you choose to take the job I have in mind.”

“Lucrative maybe, but probably more dangerous. What is it you have in that sharp mind of yours?” Kamen was no stranger to dealing with the Hutts and often did business with Khulbe, so Nima was as familiar with the human as he was with them. He had invested interest in the slave women that Khulbe managed, particularly the more exotic species, and had often earned a night with them. She knew she was there to help persuade the human male to take on the job Khulbe had wanted. A kind of unspoken added bonus, if you will, as very few ever had the pleasure of the lethan twi’lek’s company.

“Dangerous, sure, but definitely easier now that the Separatists are decisively on the losing end of this war.” Khulbe admitted slyly, alluding to the task he had in mind for the smuggler.

“And what do you want from that lot?” Kamen asked, his voice just barely giving away to the concern he felt about the answer ahead. He tried to hide his emotions behind the glass of namana liquor that he held in his pale hands and brought it up to his lips to enjoy a taste.

“Nothing that I didn’t think you could manage Kamen, I just wanted you and your crew to collect some battle droids for me. Anything better than a B1 that you could get your hands on.”

Nima watched out of the corner of her eye as Kamen tried not to choke on his drink as Master Khulbe finally voiced his wishes. As they spoke she had busied herself with refilling their snack plates and drinks, satisfying her role in this scenario. Before the smuggler could answer, one of the guards ran over, a Falleen woman, and whispered quickly into Khulbe’s ear. Without a word, he turned on the holo projector that was seated in the middle of their wooden table from a control panel in his personal floating chair.

The projection showed a hooded stranger who spoke of the Republic, the Jedi, betrayal, genocide, and finally Imperial order. As the man spoke, Nima had an increasing sense of foreboding and a deep void grew in her chest. She didn’t want to hear his words anymore. Khulbe flexed a digit to change to another broadcast of a temple on what appeared to be an ecumenopolis.

"That's the Jedi Temple on Coruscant…?" whispered Kamen and Khulbe simply grunted in response, waving for him to be silent with eyes glued hungrily to the projection. What she would see next would be the worst thing she has ever witnessed, even having lived under a hutt’s roof for as long as she had. White armoured troops descended upon the temple and it was not long before they opened fire on the building and it's occupants. The wave of despair and anguish that she felt was overwhelming. The twi'lek couldn't understand why she felt so deeply as she watched the high resolution projection filled with countless robbed figures, from very young to very old being gunned down mercilessly by clone troops. Was it the children? Helpless and unable to defend themselves? Or the adults who had tried everything in their power to defend the younglings who had turned to them for protection? Perhaps it was both, as she understood all too well the victims of this tragedy

The twi'lek rose silently from her seat and headed towards the nearby catering table with a serving plate in hand as an excuse to escape from having to watch more of the holo projection. She was on the verge of breaking her calm demeanor and needed to recollect herself. She couldn't afford to allow anyone to see how she truly felt, especially not Master Khulbe.
@Sep more accurate than you know.

@Saix if you're hunkering for some interaction and want a way to get off of the planet (no idea why your character would want that) perhaps we could link up -- although I am not sure where Khulbe's home is. That would be a "thing" that could happen, should we wish it so.

Other than that, I'll be waiting for @The Wyrm's post before I interact with the Gungan, since having Wyrms' dood around might be useful (or perhaps not so much, we will see).

Well, If you lot make it to Nar Shaddaa my girl will be there and if you can manage a way to leave with her, that would be a fun time.

In the meantime, I have an introductory post to make!
"Things" will happen. Will I like these things?
I actually like her a lot, good job @Saix!

Awe thanks!

It's alright it's my own fault. I'm from the OG so sometimes I forget to account for newer members to the guild. I've been around for the better part of ten years now.

Woo!
@Sep

My apologies. The previous threads that I would have interest or participated in typically had explicit instructions for the character creation process.

And no worries, take a look when you're able and willing. She's a character that I created for a previous thread and wanted to continue with.
