Who came up with the idea to make our statuses quotes from philosophers, anyway?

A random quote from some philosopher that we'll forget in a few moments.

"So let us formulate a plan, then," Michael replied to Moira, his phone at the ready to write down and cross out ideas. Michael gave Moira's weapon an up-down look, wondering about its capabilities, but a more careful examination would have to come at a later time. "We are apparently fighting a god that has inhabited a human body. A man that can observe movements and copy them with a single study, and can even predict our movements. In other words, it may be safe to assume that physical combatants will be quickly outmatched."

"I do have a proposal: I can use my ability of Artwork to stop Cel," Michael said, summoning his paintbrush into his hand. "Given enough coverage, my ink can seal away a person's powers. Admittedly, I'm not sure what effect that will have on the god residing within him, or if it will even work on a god. If anyone else has any ideas, I'm open to any."
Sure. Significant enough to make a difference, at least.
I was thinking of Michael being able to move ink with his mind. His hands were merely a way to more quickly apply the mental image onto reality.
So, I've been brainstorming a bit on what Michael's core power upgrade would be and how it could affect his arsenal of abilities, and this is what I have come up with. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Powers: Forgery of Magic: Michael creates and manipulates any kind of ink, using it to create symbols and other works of art that provide magical effects to whatever it is being applied on. Effects depend on the symbology drawn and Michael’s intent.

  • Dexterity: Michael can move his hands at a very fast rate, lessening the time needed to paint his symbols.
  • Forgery: Status Change: By drawing patterns and/or symbols, Michael can apply a series of buffs and/or debuffs, involving things such as increasing strength and speed as well as robbing limbs of movement. Michael can also create basic effects such as levitation or health regeneration. Even certain powers can be sealed or boosted, though this requires an extensive amount of ink to accomplish, typically involving full-body coverage. Inanimate objects are not immune from his ink, either, and can be weakened or strengthened accordingly. His Status Changes will last for as long as Michael wants it to (or at least for as long as he's conscious), and can be dispelled by him at any time.
  • Forgery: Magic Circle: By drawing a circle filled with patterns and/or symbols, Michael creates a magic circle that activates when a certain criteria is met, typically when a person or object walks into it, or whenever Michael triggers it manually. Different symbols will create different effects, but most involve restraining and/or disorienting targets. These can be formed anywhere, including on peoples' bodies and even in midair. Unfortunately, unlike Status Change, the effects of Magic Circles are temporary once they are sprung. This includes Status Changes that are applied as a result of the activation of a Magic Circle.
  • Forgery: Creation: Michael draws a picture of an object, and is able to construct said object into reality. The larger and/or more detailed said pictures are, the more powerful or larger the objects can be constructed. Unlike Enhancements or Sealings, which are composed solely of ink, Creation Art constructs can be composed of other materials. These constructs will last as long as Michael wants it to (or at least for as long as he's conscious), and can be deconstructed by him at any time. They can be combined with Magic Circles, but will disappear with the Magic Circle when it expires.

Michael raised an eyebrow at Diana's current behavior, curious at her drastic change of character compared to how Michael typically saw her. She always seemed so... adult-like. So sure of herself, with the knowledge and skills to back it up. Guess there was a vulnerable side to her as well. To bring that out, Celestine must have really screwed up... Michael thought to himself, shaking his head. Wait, why do I feel so annoyed? This isn't like me...

Gathering his thoughts, Michael returned to the present only to find another odd situation at hand. Looking over at Melanie, Michael began to say, "Mela... no, you're not her..." Melanie never had emotions, on account of having no soul, apparently. Michael's mind flashed back to the day at the infirmary, when Diana had been possessed by some cheerful entity. Right now, not-Melanie was showing the same personality. "You're the one back then, at the infirmary during the cultist attack," Michael guessed. It did also bring up an interesting weakness to Melanie now: being an empty vessel, it seemed she was susceptible to being hijacked by other entities looking to inhabit others. Without even looking, Michael took out his phone and began to jot down this piece of information.

Michael jotted down everything Diana said about Cel's abilities into his phone, updating the notes he already had on him. Judging from the info he already had, though, he knew Celestine was going to be annoying at the very least, but now it's actually a concern. An already superhuman being possessed by a god... Michael grimaced. It would probably be a very difficult challenge to face Cel alone, but fortunately he wouldn't have to. Already there were people offering to help. He would have to review his fellow Vigilantes' skills and abilities, and formulate some plans.

"As long as I get paid, I am willing to help," Michael said, stepping forward. "Besides, I owe this Witch of Bones a debt or two myself. Tell us how we can assist."

"Stand down, Melanie, she's no threat to us," Michael said to Melanie, holding a hand out to her. Looking at Diana again, Michael sighed and shook his head in disbelief. Michael could never catch a break around Diana. "I would prefer we not meet every time a disaster strikes, but it seems fate always has different plans," Michael remarked to Diana. "So... what is the issue this time? You said something about a 'Fallen One'?" As he said this, Michael took out his cell phone and began to search through his notes to shed some light on what they were facing.

Oh, Celestine Lightbringer. Her 'actual' boyfriend, apparently, Michael answered his own question, raising an eyebrow at the info.

Michelle & Belinda

"Losing at the first level, huh?" Belinda said, dropping down onto her butt, resting her elbows onto crossed legs. We did our best, Belinda, Michelle said in an attempt to encourage Belinda. "Heh. Still wasn't good enough, Michelle. Not by a long shot." That news was a little disappointing for her, that even her best effort wasn't nearly enough. Belinda looked back at her life, wondering when she began to stagnate. Honestly, it was a little difficult to pinpoint exactly when, but that fact remained that it happened, and Belinda regretted it. But the fact that she could get much stronger perked her right back up.

"Hell yeah! Let's do it!" Belinda exclaimed at Vala's offer, launching herself back onto her feet. "Thank you for teaching us, Vala," Michelle said as she took control, clapping her hands together and bowing.

Even with Belinda's increased speed from her armor, she was still failing to score a proper hit. Even the seemingly wide opening created by Vala's stumble was blocked. Belinda wondered if she was really that bad in combat, or if it was just the gap in experience that made all the difference. Just as Belinda went in for another attack, Vala somehow managed to counterattack without even turning around to face her. Belinda managed to block the gut blow with the center of her spear, but the followup backhand connected, the pain disorientating her momentarily. It wasn't much, but it was enough of an opening for Vala to move behind her and attack. The kick from behind knocked her down, leaving her sprawling on the ground.

Desperate to regain control of the fight, Belinda forced herself to move, pushing herself onto her hands and flipping herself back onto her feet. As Belinda turned around, spear at the ready to fend off Vala, only to find her on her back. Normally she would've gone in for the attack, but Belinda could already tell that Vala would somehow block or dodge it, and they'd be back to square one. Despite the difficulty, however, Belinda could only laugh. She had never been challenged in such a way before, and the thought of having to face more battles, or even people, like this... made her so excited.

"How do you do it?" Belinda asked Vala. "How are you so strong, Vala? I'm already going all out and I still can't hit you."

Even with that, Vala managed to break free from Michelle's grip and make her take a step back. The flask they had seen earlier had appeared too, meaning Vala was going to get serious now. Michelle could tell she would have to-

Michelle, I've been thinking, and I think it's time to let me loose, Belinda mused, interrupting Michelle's thoughts as Vala powered up. Your strategies are failing right now, and Vala here is only getting stronger.

Not yet, I still need to feel the situation ou- Michelle was about to say before being bombarded by Vala's drunken assault. "Wha- hey!" Michelle exclaimed as Vala leaped onto her shoulders and locked herself into place. Michelle knelt down to maintain her stability while attempting to shield her head with her arms, but that didn't stop all of Vala's blows from coming through. Her attacks had even more force in them than before, and even through the armor, Michelle was beginning to feel it.

There's nothing left to 'feel out', Michelle. We need to switch. Now! Belinda said after Michelle was knocked onto her side after the double hammer punch, barely staying up by propping herself up with one arm. Michelle could see no alternative to freeing herself from this predicament, so she agreed, Fine. Switch.

Michelle's armor dissipated as Belinda regained control. In its place was a new armor, darker and more skimpy. A loud BANG! sounded as Belinda teleported away, leaving a cloud of smoke in Vala's face. In front of Vala was Belinda, crouched down in a fighting position while holding her spear above her with it pointed down. With a cocky grin, Belinda said, "My turn." She then launched herself forward with a speed that brought her into Vala's face immediately and proceeded to strike at her in multiple directions with both ends of her spear, spinning it around like a quarterstaff. She also occasionally used the spear's range to strike outside of Vala's own, using thrusts and swipes.
