Hades And Dio
The Ball, SEATTLE
GOD OF The Dead,

No matter how many times throughout history he had been forced to wear a suit, Dio could never be comfortable in one. It could be how stuffy and formal it made him feel, or could be deep-seated issues with his identity compared to his father. Both perfectly reasonable reasons, or so thought the god of wine. Fiddling with his collar he sat in the passenger seat of a car that probably cost more than a year's worth of rent for his apartment. The city was mostly a blur to Dio as the vehicle sped downtown towards the charity event. The invite had been very surprising to DIo, but he had soon realized how amazing of an opportunity it was. For starters, it would hopefully let him meet up with some friends of his he had not seen in centuries. Dionysus would also be able to talk to Artemis about her investigation and ask if he could help. Finally, it was going to be so much fun. So many people who hated each other were going to be in an enclosed space with copious amounts of liquor. There probably hadnโ€™t been an event like this since the parties with the French monarchy. Dio could only imagine the chaos that was going to happen.

โ€œThis is just funny isnโ€™t it? The Romans hide for years then suddenly reappear and invite everyone to a party. Almost like they got lonely plotting the demise of everyone and missed us.โ€

Hades continued to look forward as the city passed by him at a fast pace as he pondered his son's statement. โ€œIt is indeed.โ€ Hades said in his usual even calculating tone. โ€œI find it odd that they would openly invite everyone like this considering.โ€ Hades stopped for a moment to let it hang in the air. He didn't need to bring up his Nephew, it was clear what he meant. โ€œI am more concerned about my brothers being there and the usual drama that follows our family.โ€ Hades thought for a moment more on the idea of his brothers all being present in a confined area for an entire evening, with Alcohol. They weren't even in the same room for long and the conclave had gone to shit in a heartbeat he couldn't begin to think what an entire evening would bring. โ€œJust watch yourself when we get there. I don't trust the imposters, the rest of our family, and most other gods to not make some scenes tonight.โ€ Hades knew his son could handle himself and definitely didn't need him as a protector anymore, but this whole issue still made him feel uneasy.

โ€œI plan to enjoy the spectacle rather than, be it. Iโ€™ll watch myself while Iโ€™m there.โ€ Dio knew that his father didnโ€™t like or trust the Romans, or really any of the other gods for that matter. While they were at the ball he would have to make sure to watch his tongue. Couldnโ€™t let any of his fatherโ€™s enemies know Hadesโ€™ plans. โ€œI have a few people to talk to once Iโ€™m there, so I probably wonโ€™t see you until the end of it. Or maybe a few days from now depends on how drunk I get.โ€

------------

There was an easy silence in the car, not uncomfortable but rather nice, an easy calm before the storm that would inevitably hit the ball itself. That brief bit of silence was a nice feeling for Hades who had been so busy since the conclave it felt like the old days when his family once wagged war. That small time of peace, however, was quickly shattered as the car pulled into its place in front of the venue drawing the attention of plenty of photographers. โ€œWell, it was nice while it lasted.โ€ He said as he straightened his bow tie in the mirror. As he exited the car he put on a small smile just enough to please the swarm of mortals clambering for a photo of the wealthy man and his guest. โ€œAlways hated this part.โ€ He said under his breath as he began to ascend the steps towards the ball itself doing his best to ignore the mortals and their rather loud and obnoxious questions.

Dio couldnโ€™t help but grin as the cameras began to flash all around them. While he managed to slip through most of the crowd unnoticed, his father was not nearly as stealthy. Being a film student at the local college thankfully let him be inconspicuous amongst the mortals. Dio caught his father's eye from across the crowd of people and gave him a quick wave before entering the venue. Dio took a moment to scan the gleaming room that spread in front of him.

Dionysus immediately noticed many of the gods that had spread throughout the room before his arrival. Across the room, a few of the Romans had begun to gather around their โ€œkingโ€, though some still remained scattered amongst other guests. He hadnโ€™t seen many of those faces for centuries, well at least not in person. His father could be described in many many words, but careless would never be one of them. Paranoid? Sure, but never careless. Ever since the fall, Hades has been preparing for war, and information is as valuable as Ambrosia.

Other than the Romans a few other pantheons had decent representation, though none of them were as organized. Of course, his Greek family had scattered like leaves in the wind, off to mingle and get wasted. While locating his Greek brethren he noticed a poor fool who happened to be getting wasted at the bar. After a second Dio recognized that poor fool as being his Uncle Poseidon. Dio was happy the sea god had resurfaced, no matter how unfortunate the timing was. He always preferred Poseidon over Zeus back in the day, especially since Posiedon wasnโ€™t married to someone who had tried to kill Dio.

โ€œI should go say something before the party is over. Doubt there will be much time for a calm discussion after this thing.โ€

As he passed the threshold, Hades was immediately struck by just how blindingly bright white the room really was. As Hades let his eyes adjust slightly he gazed over the room seeing the usual suspects of an event such as these. Various companies, groups, banks, and especially politicians all mingling, trading stories, and fake compliments. So was the way of mortals he supposed, and gods to be fair, to always use an opportunity to push themselves forward. Glancing up towards the balcony of the main ballroom Hades could see two figures standing across the many attendants with a seemingly angry look on their faces, though it would be overlooked had you not been aware or perspective enough. โ€œAh so there sits the king,โ€ he said to himself with a heavy amount of sarcasm as he lifted a glass from the serving tray that just passed him. Just as he began to lift the glass to his lips he paused for a moment at the sight of two figures gracing the dance floor. Almost immediately he could recognize the two people dancing carefree on the otherwise empty floor. For all his ability to never show a sign of weakness or a shred of emotion Hades felt a slight smile pull on the edges of his lips. It was almost too nice of sight to look away from until he felt a pain of shame and grief in his chest forcing his eyes to look away from the dance floor.

Connor listened to the purr of the engine as he spread through the streets of Seattle towards the ball that he had so kindly been invited to. Though if he was being honest he had no idea why he got invited in the first place. He wasn't some important figure in the mortal world if he was being honest with himself, just a simple detective and an MMA coach, nothing that would really spark the interest of the "elites" But hey a party was a party, and seeing the gods at each other's throat would always be worth having to were this stupid suit. At the thought, Conor pulled slightly at his own tie trying to give his throat some space allowing himself to breathe. He had to admit that he looked good in a suit but that didn't change the fact that he was never a fan.

He did wonder what gods would be in attendance tonight. He figured the Greeks and the Romans would be there in full force up to their usual nonsense. He knew his cousin was supposed to meet him there but that was as far as he knew about his pantheon. Now that he thought about it he wondered if his new partner was supposed to be there. His mind was pulled to the greek goddess known to the mortals as Agent Steele. "Well, what a better place to make a first impression than at a ball full of ego and alcohol," he thought happily to himself as he pulled to the front of the venue.

As he stepped through the threshold of the ballroom Conor held a mischievous grin on his face as his eyes scanned the room. The room was painfully white, which was a poor choice considering the list of guests that would be attending. As his eyes continued to roam the room his eyes settled on the bar off to the corner with none other than his very own cousin already starting off any good celebration right. Slowly making his way over to the bar he made sure to sidestep the various waiters and individuals already lost in their own stories and drinks to notice the Irishmen. As he reached the bar he threw an arm around his cousin pulling into a side hug as he laughed a bit. โ€œAye there you are.โ€ Letting go of the man Connor took his seat next to him getting the bartender's attention for a drink. โ€œSo what's the plan col ceathrar?โ€ He said with a devilish grin on his face as he brought the drink to his lips for the first of what was probably going to be many a drink for the night.

GOD OF The Dead

The sound grunts and pain bounced off the walls of the old cellar never being able to escape to the outside. A man bruised and bloodied from all angles sat by himself tied to an old wood chair doing his best to regain his composure during this brief moment in between beatings. As the man let out labored breaths another much younger man squatted down in front of his face gripping tight to a baseball bat. โ€œJust admit to it Bobby and all this can end.โ€ not receiving an answer the younger man stood from his squatted position and began pacing around the room resting the bat on his shoulder as he continued to speak. โ€œYou know from what I hear the boss ain't happy in the slightest to hear about this. But I mean who could blame him.โ€ As he finished the statement the bat suddenly left its resting place but quickly found a new one against the Bobbys arms currently stuck behind the chair. โ€œWe can do this all fucking night,โ€ he said trying his best to be louder than the man's screams of pain. โ€œWe got nowhere else to be and ain't no one coming to save you.โ€

As he finished this exclamation the metal door slowly slid open revealing a rather well dressed old man who looked as though they didn't belong in such a place. As soon as the man stepped foot into the old cellar everything seemed to stop. โ€œMr. Giovanni. What are you doing here?โ€ someone finally spoke up not sure as to why such a high ranking member would show his face at a time like this, especially considering they hadnโ€™t broken the old bastard yet.

โ€œClean him up for me will you,โ€ Giovanni said continuing to look upon the poor man who had no idea what he had brought onto himself. His words were direct, never letting a chance for a question not that anyone would dare question the man anyway. After all to disobey an underboss like Giovanni was a death sentence. โ€œAnd once you're done with that please step outside. He would like to see our guest personally.โ€ the way Giovanni emphasized He, there was no doubt in anyone's mind who that meant.

As Hades stepped into the door he was greeted by only two people. Giovanni who was currently leaning on a few crates before he stood up as a form of respect. And Bobby who was currently less bloody having been washed but still nowhere near presentable for the public. Giving Giovanni a nod, Hades stepped closer but waited to talk until the door behind him was closed once again. โ€œI'm very disappointed in you Mr. young.โ€ Hades finally spoke as he began to pace around the room. โ€œMay I ask why you found it fit to try and betray your brothers?โ€

โ€œI.. I.. I don't know what you're talking about.โ€

โ€œCome now Mr. Young please don't take me for an idiot.โ€ by this point Hades had made it halfway around the man and was now out of sight continuing to look at the poor bastard who was practically shivering with fear. โ€œIf I didn't already know about what you did, the fear itself would be a dead give away. All I want to know is. Why? That's it.โ€ as Hades finished his statement he rested a hand on the man's shoulder feeling him tense up out of fear. โ€œDid I not pay enough, is that it? Greed to fill your own pockets while you sent your only family to their doom.โ€

โ€œLook I didn't knowโ€

After hearing the blatant lie Hades let go of the man's shoulder as he made his way around to the front so he could look at the man. Once he had made his way around and taken a seat in a chair just in front of Mr. Young Hades let his gaze settle. โ€œWould you care to repeat that?โ€ he asked in a dark tone. โ€œAnd before you speak I highly suggest you not lie to me again.โ€

โ€œLook I.. I.. I didn't know what else to do ok. They said they had dirt and this was my only way out.โ€ The man said as he hung his head in defeat seemingly finally been broken. โ€œPlease, I'm sorry. I never wanted to hurt the family.โ€

โ€œSee was that so hard? Admitting to your own sins makes things so much easier doesn't it?โ€ as Hades said this he began to walk around the back of the man's chair. Pulling out a knife Hades cut the rope that was currently holding Young's arms on the back of the chair. As the man stood up from the chair he had just spent the night getting beaten, Hades reached into his suit jacket pulling out a single photograph tossing it to the ground clearly visible to both of them. Once young looked at the picture his body immensely stiffened once again at the realization of what it meant. The picture showed him meeting with an agent he had agreed to work with and receiving some form of payment. Before he was even able to fully turn around Hades already had him pinned to the wall and had begun to slowly lift him by the collar.

โ€œYou're going to pay for your sins, Mr. Young.โ€ Hades' voice became much darker much like the room whose lights had begun to dim. Already confused by what was Happening Young looked into the face of pure fear as Hades' eyes glowed a deep red only able to let out a scream of pain.

As He stepped out of the cellar and into the crisp night air Hades took in a deep breath. Adjusting his suit slightly he made his way to the car awaiting him. Entering the rather nice vehicle Hades was greeted with Giovanni seated across from him. โ€œI assume it went well.โ€

โ€œOf course. But always sad when you get betrayed by one of your own.โ€ Hades paused for a second before reaching for the photo once again and handing it to Giovanni. โ€œDump the body but make sure this is on it. I want to send a message to them that this will not be tolerated. And tell Alexander to meet me as soon as possible.โ€

Hades sat quietly seemingly unfazed by the news of his nephew's death. He showed no signs of remorse or even sadness, simply an indifferent stare as cold as death. Truth be told however Hades did feel something for the death of one of his fellow greeks. He felt a mix of sadness and anger but never showed it. If the Morrigan didn't know the cause of death then that meant the Colossus wasn't responsible and more than likely his blood one was on that of another god's hands. Of course, he had his suspicions of who was to blame but this was neither the time nor the place for that conversation, especially with tensions running as high as they were. The acts of Ares and Hera only served to prove his point. The latter of which irritated him the most of the two. โ€œSome nerve to act as though you care about a child you abandoned.โ€ he thought to himself as he glanced in the direction of the screaming banshee herself. Unlike some gods present room, Hades could see through the lie that was Hera. She had never carried about Hephestus when they were gods and strongly doubted that changed when they lost that. Additionally, not that he thought she was responsible this time, Hades found it ironic that of all people to be the accuser of murdering another god it would be Hera. The very women that threw Hephestus off Olympus simply based on looks, attempted multiple times to kill Hercules to get back at his brother, and even tried and partially succeeded in murdering his son based on a fortune. This also wasn't even including the countless mortal lives Hera had ruined.

From his position looking towards Hera, as if on cue, Hades could see Dio and Comus sitting next to each other on the verge of tears from the news. Almost immediately Hades felt a pain in his chest that replaced his anger for Hera with sadness for his two precious children. He knew how close Dio and the now-deceased god were back in the old times. Surprising the god of parties made for the best peacemaker whenever Hepestus became angry. Cursing under his breath Hades Ignored everything else happening in the room for the time being, as he made his way over to the two looking down at them with as warm a face he could muster. Seeing tears either slowly falling or threatening to break loose, Hades let out a sigh as he slowly slid down next to his beloved Granddaughter. Placing his arm around the curled up form of Comus Hades did his best to comfort her. โ€œYou were always better at this than I was.โ€ he thought to himself as he continued to look at the gods slowly being calmed down. โ€œShhh shhh. It's ok,โ€ he said in whispers as to not interrupt the other squabbling gods. โ€œI know it hurts. But don't worry I will find out who or what did this.โ€

Hades paused for a moment looking between the two of them. There was never a time where Hades wouldn't have done anything for his children. As far as he was concerned he would face down the entire pantheon without fear if it meant keeping them safe. But things like this were never truly his strong suit if he was being honest. At least the verbal part never was. All he could hope was that they understood that he genuinely did feel their pain and wanted to help. Holding on a little tighter to Comus' shoulder and looking towards Dio Hades held a face that was both deathly serious and full of love โ€œAnd I promise I will never let this happen to either of you.โ€

Hades let out a low sigh as he looked up from his book towards the clock that hung overhead. โ€œI suppose I really can't put it off anymore can I?โ€ he said in a slightly saddened tone while looking over to his left at his faithful companion as if looking for an answer. When the dog merely tilted his head Hades responded โ€œThe conclave is today. And I better leave now or I'll be late.โ€ At the reference to the conclave the dog began growling in a low tone. โ€œI know Spot, but I have to go. Keep up appearances and all.โ€ moving to his large walk-in closet Hades began looking through his various suits contemplating which one he wanted for the conclave. Even out of sight of Spot, Hades still continued his conversation with the dog without missing a beat. โ€œI can't imagine what we are meeting for this time. There hasn't been anything large enough to warrant us all having to gather.โ€

Stepping out of the closet hades had basically stuck with the same outfit as before simply opting to wear a vest instead of a full suit. โ€œWhat do you think? No need to go all out anyway right?โ€ receiving a reassuring bark bark from the Rottweiler Hades nodded satisfied with himself. โ€œThat's why I always ask you.โ€ making his way to his garage Hades turned back towards his dog who appeared to be under the impression he would also be attending. โ€œNo sorry bud you're not going this year. No, don't give me those eyes you know full well what will happen if I bring you.โ€ he finished giving Spot a knowing look. โ€œBesides you need to stay and guard the house ok. Good boy.โ€ and with that Hades walked out the front door of the house.

It had taken a minute to find the specified room for the conclave. The drive there had been rather uneventful apart from his constant wondering of how this gathering would go. Titans knew the greek pantheon had enough drama on their own, throw in the others and things were bound to go bad. He just hoped he would be able to be there and promptly be able to leave with little hassle. His main concern was his brother Zeus and whatever antics he had instore for today. Or worse would be if today would be the day the Romans finally showed themselves at one of these damn things.

Having finally found the room Hades immediately regretted arriving at the time he did. Of all the gods to be arriving at the same time was Zeus and Hera, and by the looks of it, Athena had arrived not long before them. โ€œWell this should go swell.โ€ he thought to himself as he braced for the storm before moving to enter the room. Once Hades entered the room however he was meat with a hilarious, at least to him, but disgusting seen. It may have been wrong but a part of him could help but find joy in the mighty Zeus the victim of some strange man's vomit. โ€œWell that is dreadful isn't it,โ€ he said looking down at the now ruined shoes of Zeus before continuing to the chairs. Finding a chair with no one sitting around it Hades took a seat with the oddest nagging feeling. He couldn't place it but something about the man at the door seemed off.

Tetsu stood over the now collapsed Iza. he had initially gone to grab her as she fell but whether it was from fear of another genjutsu or from something else he couldn't tell. For some reason it still pained him to see Iza like this but he had no choice at the moment and could let himself become distracted from his team's objective any longer. Taking one last glance at Iza Tetsu moved to take a step over her presumably unconscious form as his sand moved down to retrieve his team's scroll from her belt. โ€œIza if you can hear me I would suggest you leave while we're busy.โ€ This was his final warning before his full attention was placed on the masked figure across the field from him.
As Tetsu stood with arms crossed over his chest his face seemed to be as emotionless as ever there was a hidden anger deep within his eyes as his gaze settled on his opponent. This look of murderous intent only amplified by the new black rings that had appeared around Tetsu's eyes once his sand began to hover around his own body ready to strike his foe and form a barrier from any attack.

Kojiโ€™s voice was deep, with sound loud enough that even those far out of sight could hear it. He laughed, one of those performative, trying-too-hard laughs rather than anything genuine. โ€œHa, I see you have a concern over that girl, what a foolish and quotidian thought to occupy oneโ€™s mind with, such can only be expected from basic and unenlightened. If you are such a tellurian creature then defeating you will not be worthy of discussing alongside my other esteemed accomplishments, for it will be over in the merest flash, as quick and inconsequential as a single grain of sand falling in the great hourglass of historyโ€

For all the mans boasting, Tetsu seemed to be unfazed as he kept his same emotionless expression staring straight through Koji. underneath his gaze however Tetsu was slowly losing his temper with his opponent. Maybe if he believed for a second that Koji could back up the talk then Tetsu may have been exceeded to test his power against a worthy opponent. As it stood however Tetsu could tell the man was bluffing perhaps trying to gain a psychological advantage over his opponent to make up for his lack of skills. โ€œYou talk too much. For your sake I really hope you can back up that bravado.โ€ As soon as the last word escaped his lips the Iron sand that was once hovering next to Tetsu lashed out in lightning speed headed straight for Koji.

What went on inside Kojiโ€™s head was anyoneโ€™s guess. It was hard to tell if he was a bluffer, trying to play a psychological game or if he was just an idiot. Whatever the case, he spent a lot more time talking about fighting than fighting. He came out with less bruises from talking than when he tried to fight. He said โ€œOh insolent one do not doubt that I possess -โ€ and then his words stopped as iron sand flew into his face. That was when he learned that tough talk could lead to outcomes far worse than just a punch in the face.

Tetsu looked across the field as he saw Kojiโ€™s form go flying as a result of the sand. As the sand returned to its original position near his person tetsu looked on with annoyance starting to crack through his face. Never moving from his starting position Tetsu silently and motinesly commands the sand to move towards the now prone Koji slowly wrapping around the boy's body. Lifting the body into the air leaving only the face of the boy revealed. โ€œIron Coffin.โ€ Tetsu called out as the sand solidified in its position. [color=black]โ€œYou should have spent more time training rather than wasting my time. Now where's your scroll.โ€ Tetsu asked slightly, closing his fist which was now outstretched towards Koji causing the sand to constrict ever so slightly. โ€œAnd I suggest you don't waste any more of my time.โ€

The hit made Koji go delirious. He woke up again as the sand began to crush, causing a bit of panic. He started speaking, slurring his words and it sounding muffled from the iron sand seeping into his mask โ€œMitโ€ฆ.Mitsuhideโ€ฆ.ourโ€ฆ..concealedโ€ฆ.the myriadโ€ฆ.scrollsโ€ฆ..only he knowsโ€ฆ..must search them all...our stroke of geniusโ€ฆ.โ€ Only some of the words were intelligible. Koji then tried to laugh but all he could manage was a gasping, hacking sound, coughing up sand and trying to breathe.

To his credit Koji did one thing that few others had managed to do, he had caused a twitch to appear across Tetsuโ€™s face at his answer about the scroll. Unfortunately Koji had no idea that this was never a good sign for the person who caused it. Tetsu closed his fist ever so slightly more leaving the poor boy stuck in the air in what was presumably great pain. As the Iron constricted even more the mask Koji was once wearing shattered under the pressure revealing his face.

A kunai stabbed into the back of the iron coffin. It was a heavy, thudding blow that landed with the full weight of itโ€™s wielder behind it, one Kotetsu Kanehara. He had made jumping stab as the coffin began to form and rise, then held on tight as it lodged into the coffin and he rose off the ground along with it. With his free hand he punched at it, making the sand loosen up and deform. When a gap formed Kotetsu jabbed his hand into it, tensing his muscles and feeling the sand try to compress again as his strength and tenacity broke itโ€™s integrity. He said โ€œHey, Tetsu, whatโ€™s the matter with you? Knock it off, he told us what he knows. This scroll ainโ€™t worth killing nobody over.โ€

Tetsu blinked for a second when he heard Kotetsu yell from behind the iron coffin. Seemingly snapping him out of his trance, Tetsu relaxed his hand fully, letting Koji hit the ground. Once the sand began to return to its place inside Tetsuโ€™s container his gaze settled on Kotetsu. Slowly beginning to walk towards him Tetsu began to speak once again. โ€œThis is the world of shinobi Kotetsu, itโ€™s us vs them.โ€

When he was on the ground again Kotetsu wiped the sand off of his clothes. He saw Koji on the ground, unconscious, and decided not to look too closely at the damage. Kotetsu said. โ€œIs this what being a Shinobiโ€™s about? If itโ€™s all about acting like everyone who isnโ€™t with you oughta be crushed like a bug you find nibbling on your crops, then being a shinobi ainโ€™t much of anything to be proud of.โ€ He looked at the ground, kicking some of the grains left around. He said โ€œWould anyone want to be a shinobi if we didnโ€™t act like the whole world revolves around them? Thatโ€™s why they make a good living, why people die trying to be like them. Sometimes I wonder why Iโ€™m trying to be one, and the only thing can come up with is that itโ€™d be pretty damn hard for me to find anything else I could do as well as this.โ€

Tetsu continued to stare at his brother for a moment almost as if he was gauging what was coming out of the boy's mouth. โ€œThis is the life we live as Shinobi Kotetsu. Were weapons for our villages, used to ensure its safety and its protection. We are responsible for the safety of our own village and must be ready to carry out that task at any cost.โ€ Tetsu paused looking down at the limp Koji. โ€œThe strong of this world survive while the weak are left behind begging for mercy that they are rarely shown. That's why we can't afford to be weak both in power and heart.โ€ Tetsu finished before turning his back and walking off towards Satoru.
