Why does saying "I love you" have to have so many romantic connotations? There are so many people I love in a way seperate from anything romantic. <3

Bio

A thing that will die after eating rat poison

But really, a guy that likes to RP. Not too keen on sharing personal info in my bio, but after I get to know you, I may open up a bit more in regards to certain things.

I have been roleplaying for most of my life, but forum RP is newer to me than tabletop. I wanted something to do to kill time without putting wayyyy too many hours into Dark Souls 3.

I love music, historical fencing and re enactment, making shit, and just being cool with people. Talk any of these things with me, and you'll be cool with me. I have very strong thoughts on sandwiches. Ask if you dare.

Here's a list of cool people from this site that are just cool people that I enjoy talking with, and a quote from each of them. In no particular order, here they are:

@Goldeagle1221
"What the shit?"

@TheGrundlesnart
"Don't quote me."

@MissCapnCrunch
"Rodent is a little shit, I want to beat him up but in the most loving way"

@Rultaos
"If you're feeling unimportant, always remember that every protagonist was an NPC before their most important story began"

@iTem
"haha yeah"

@Sirkaithethird
"I'm just running an aux through my amp, Playing Van Halen at 05:50"

And that's that. There's not much else I feel like saying. Here's a list of bands I like (to be made soon)

Utopia

A short time ago, about two weeks, the lot of you passed the initiation into the resistance. After you'd finished and passed the tests you were sent home with a few instructions. The short version being, "Go about your life as normal. Within the next four weeks you will be approached with a new set of instructions. Follow them.".

You have each received instructions too meet today on a rooftop close to the surface railway. You were given times, dates and the place. That is all. Presently, you're on your way there. It's regular cityscape and rooftops. On top of the actual building there's a squat brick wall on the roof, tracing the perimeter. There's a small glass sunlight in the center that spies on a bedroom in use, with bedsheets as tousled as it's sole occupants hair. One side of the square rooftop is taken up by a taller building, ventilation huddled at its base. No other features adorn this wall.

Simon Corkill

The ground under Simons feet was struggling to keep up as he tried to make it to the meeting spot in time. He'd had a lot of work to do back at HQ, and lost track of the time. He took the rooftops directly, to save on time. Of course, he'd be tired as shit when he got there, but that was his problem.

He stuttered to a stop. The layered edge of this building came sooner than expected. He wipes the sweat off his brow. The distance was a bit of a stretch...

The sound of rubber soled shoes against gravel filled his ears. He pushed himself into the air with as much force as he could muster, and the sore footsteps become the howling of wind in his ear. His legs miss the edge of the building, but collide with the side. Before he falls directly downwards, his hands grasp the brick that is the edge of the building. He kicks, pulls, and he's up and off in one swift movement.

The drop to the arranged meeting spot was much higher than expected, too. He got cut up palms and felt the roll bite his hip a little, but they were just scrapes. He takes out his Nokia, and ensures he was on time. He was five minutes late, although it seemed the others were as well. He sits on top of the air vents, back slouched against the wall he had just fallen from, and takes in the indifferent blue sky.
Banned because trebuchet
Hey, this looks interesting! I'd like to ask a few questions before I join, though.

I have a character in mind with a slightly unorthodox magic system, would I be able to use it, or is there a specific way magic works here?

This'd be my first advanced roleplay here, would you be able to tolerate my quite possibly shitty writing?

Do I have to read all IC before joining?

Would you be okay if I don't do my first post for a few weeks, as I have a large event to prepare for.

I think that's all. I'll let y'all know if I have more questions
Posted! Although you all probably got the notif anyway.
Ceiran Strivelyn

And with his suggestion, Circe transformed into a hummingbird and just flew away. This made him wonder if she will always be this much of a pain to work with, especially for Roland. Something about how she took off into what was potentially her death without so much as a glance in Roland's direction planted a seed of doubt in him, even if he wasn't conscious of it yet. He balled up the muesli bar wrapper, shoved it into his bag, and pulled his wand out of the purpose sewn pocket on the inside of his jacket.

Ceiran turned to face Roland as he spoke up about how team captain was only a symbolic role. He raised an eyebrow, and said, "Sorry, it was just a suggestion. Didn't mean for her to just take off without asking anybody. What's your plan now?". He was about to say something along the lines of "You can't exactly lead the team of problem students", but thought the better of it. It's something Roland would've considered in the past.

But a thought wandered into his head, and changed his outlook on the mission quite significantly. What if the so-called monster was really just a group of people? "So, Roland. What if this isn't a monster at all? We could be dealing with humans here. Or humans who have tamed a monster. I don't have an extensive knowledge of monsters, but from what I know, they wouldn't bother painting the windows black.". He pointed at the blotted windows to illustrate his point. "Plus, I don't see why large monsters would be stealing stuff. It would just attack everyone and take it after they'd left. I bet it's either small, or some humans. Maybe...", his train of thought trailed off vocally, but his thoughts were still screaming past in his head.
Good question! Honestly, I don't mind about the specifics, but it has to be at least a paragraph and feature your character. If you're out of ideas, try these ones!

  • Day in the life of
  • Fond/disturbing childhood memory
  • How they found out about the Resistance
  • A significant life event
  • A scuffle with the law
  • Monologue
  • Meeting with friends

Of course, you aren't limited to these. Write about whatever, it just has to feature your character.

OOC is up! Get started on those character sheets, we start when we have 4 characters approved. Going to sleep now though, so there may or not be delays if you manage to get

@BrokenWashing @JELDare @DrTwit @SpicyMeatball @Sorry Excuse @Zora @Rebirth @NPC @Mt Paragon @HowlsOfWinter (Is that everybody? If I missed someone would somebody be so kind as to tag them in the OOC for me?)

Oh yeah... Join the Discord. There will be much banter and merrymaking. discord.gg/rKhMDDQ
Reserving this for my character. Feel free to reserve your own character spots. WIP sheets here, then edit them. Ping me when they're done.

Utopia. It's not meant to be ironic, is it? Well, it is anyway.

Twelve years ago, following several 'tragic' events, the city had a major crackdown on security. Citizens were forced to walk or drive certain routes, lockout and curfew laws were passed, and all citizens were required to carry cards that pinpoint their location. This is only the more extreme stuff, too. Increased amounts of street cameras. Streets that send out electric shocks. It crossed the line. We had no privacy as citizens.

With this came resistance, but the apathetic authority of the government won out over the stubborn citizenry. Over time, some began to accept it, and some just left. Sheep and cowards. We stayed. And if you hadn't already guessed, we were dissatisfied. At first we were just roaming where we could, amazed at how much empty city space there was. We found so many magical places. Places so full of emptiness we felt like intruders. I mean, we were. But these areas... they got us feeling desolate. An old rubbish bag. A twisted bone. Faces carved into the walls, staring at us with infinitely judging eyes. We made them ours, though taking things that belong to themselves is difficult. We're on the rise now. We've gathered over fifty followers, which is a good deal more than three. Everything we were we still are, just more of it. It's great.

What we do exactly? We run raids, thefts, propaganda, sabotage, anything that'll make it easier for us citizens to reclaim some control. You want in?

Summary

Hello players! Welcome to Utopia. The most oppressive city on Earth! You had the inkling that something was going on under the surface, and recently you were proved right. There's a rebellion going on under everybody's noses, sabotaging, stealing, vandalising. They occupy the empty parts of the city: Abandoned warehouses, Old train stations, unused rooftops, forgotten construction sites, and the like. How you found out about them is up to you.

IC will start when I get 4 characters approved and in the tab, not counting mine. Try describing your recruitment in your first post if you can't think of something. I'll do the first IC post to kick things off.

Rules

Posting will be once a week, if at all possible. If you can't post because of RL stuff, there is seriously no pressure, but letting me know would be highly appreciated. Takes three minutes. Less if you're on the Discord.

No godmoding, Mary Sue/Gary Stu

GM has final say. I trust y'all to be reasonable with each other if I'm not around.

Pass characters through me first

Make sure you don't auto perform significant actions. Doing regular things is all good, but when the stakes are high, I'll resolve it.

Wait for everybody in your group to post before posting again. Share the spotlight, and allow others to have input.

The rest of the stuff you see around. Site rules apply, fade to black, etc. I'm fine with graphic violence, but it should ideally add something other than itself to the story.

Finally... Disobey the in-game rules. Not these ones, please. I'm going to be a dick if you disobey these, and I might remove you. Maybe.

Character Information

This is the Character Sheet. I was going to change it, but it actually works pretty well.

STATS: -1 is actively bad, 0 is average , 1 is well trained, and 2 is highly trained. You may not go higher than 2. Taking a negative gives you an extra point to spend. By default you have 4 points.

Each stat has a 'twin', as you may have noticed. It's a simple, yet somewhat elegant system for determining interactions. They don't modify die rolls or anything, but help me judge how effective your significant actions are.

You may 'Call' a stat, which you can only do once every two posts/rounds of the post cycle. Doing this will increase your chance of success by a significant margin, especially if you have more than 1 in a stat.

  • Reflexes determines how good you'll be at resisting things via speed. Also determines acting speed in combat/racing
  • Speed determines how good you'll be at influencing things via quickness. Also determines how fast you move... obviously
  • Endurance determines how good you'll be at resisting things via power. Also determines how long you can run/fight etc for
  • Strength determines how good you'll be at influencing things via power. Also determines how much you can carry and how hard you hit in melee
  • Will determines how good you'll be at resisting things via the mind. Also determines productivity, resistance under stress, and memory
  • Perception determines how good you'll be at influencing things via the mind. Also determines persuasion

SKILLS: 0 is untrained, 1 is hobbyist level, 2 is professional level, 3 is 'doctorate' level. You have 6 points to spend, and cannot take negatives. This is because I don't like the idea of people doing shit like taking a -1 in "Moving toes individually". What the shit.

Players will come up with skills, as you can probably think of a much wider variety than I could, especially as tired as I am. Skills will be a make them up style. When you make them assign them an attribute that makes sense. If nothing really fits, ask me and I'll deal with it.

Miscellaneous

Extra laws of note:
  • Curfew from 10 pm to 4 am. Strict enforcement. Punishable by Heavy fine
  • Lockout from 9:30 pm to 5 pm. BAC may not exceed 0.080. Punishable by loss of bar license and heavy fine.
  • Citizens must take one of three routes to and from their chosen location. This is determined by an app you must install to access basic city functions, such as public transport. The app also tracks you, but this isn't public information. Punishable by an informational class on the danger of deviance.
  • Citizens may not speak out against law enforcement or current city laws. Punishable by an informational class on the danger of deviance.
  • Just imagine now, but more strict for the rest. More police patrols, too. Significantly more.

As a tidbit of info, I will be posting as both the world and in character. My posts will be split in two, one half describing the world and the outcomes of your significant actions, and the other half will be as my character.

I'm certain I've left stuff out, and will continue to do so! Please ask me any questions over at the Discord, as its easier for me to reply there. discord.gg/rKhMDDQ
