Current you can never really tell if a person is looking out from behind their own eyes, or if the eyes are being piloted by tiny mice in swivel-chairs.

Prayer does nothing. Demand change from your representatives. This is the ONLY country where mass shootings are a regular occurrence.

College student at a state college in the American Pacific Northwest. I am studying history to go into an education masters program, and then hopefully go teach high schoolers, also going for a political science minor since I keep taking polysci classes :V . Positive Nihilist, leftie, enjoy in depth discussion of topics/fun tangents, also enjoy being left alone... depends on the day. I also am not a fan of capitalizing the beginning of a sentence. why does it need a capital letter? there's already a punctuation mark before it! (he says as he continues to capitalize the word "I")

Other interests include:
-Overwatch: support/Junkrat main. #freefuey
-Combat Robotics: and if you're like me and are too poor to actually build shit but want to pretend you've made something anyway, check out ARC (http://s10.zetaboards.com/Drowning_City_Forums/index/). /cross-forum plug :V
-also in the vein of robotics, I volunteer through the FIRST (for Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition community. FIRST puts on a lot of really cool robotics based events for schoolchildren, and I do encourage you to check out their events and/or get into volunteering if you're into that sort of thing. it's also a gigantic commitment and probably not as much fun for people who aren't as into it as I am :V . still, go take like 3 minutes to watch this, this shit is so cool! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjDSCT96K2w
-Hearthstone (fuck cubelock amirit I definitely dont love cubelock or anything)
-MtG (and by that I mean I dick around with a group hug commander deck with my friends)
-I play Sheik in one of the Super Smash brothers games but I forget which one. pretty sure it's not melee :V

long story short I had a lot of other shit going on the last few weeks and I can't spare the time to sift through this huge of an OOC on the daily. because of that, I lost confidence in keeping up with the overarching plot, and am most likely going to be dropping participation. Nothin' personal, RPG's just too big for me lol
jesus the OOC doubled since I was here last.

Did I miss anything relevant to me :V
having hassan around would be a good balancing force for stina now that I've made them good friends, but I could also easily make a plotline about dealing with him not being there, so no real preference.

Saalima REALLY did not appreciate this invasion of her personal mental space. These fucking Justice Leaguers. Assuming we all cared. Assuming we all could help. Assuming we all weren't making lunch. Assuming we wouldn't panic and knock a pot of boiling water on the floor when the message hit. At least she was able to clean things up relatively quickly.

This invasion potentially spiced things up quite a bit. She'd learned a lot about her most recent foes in the past couple of weeks. Codpiece and the Fiddler, real names unknown, origins of their tech currently unknown. Appearances: textbook comic book villain. Working for Tusk, trying to edge into Bludhaven via the cocaine market. Fiddler also seemed to have some ulterior goals to mind control large portions of the city for reasons unknown to her. Their middleman, Felix Esteban Gálvez, a Colombian. Rumored to have cocaine based superpowers, but she couldn't get any reliable information from any websites, informants, mooks, bad cops. Even after breaking fingers. She wasn't exactly sure what their plan for dealing with Blockbuster was - it might have something to do with Fiddler's mind control though.

If Atlanteans made shore in Bludhaven though...

She wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell against those fuckers. Neither would the ne'er-do-wells of her town, but all of the important ones could slip town pretty easily, so she needed to prepare both for an invasion, and for their return post-invasion. Now seemed like a good time to re-familiarize herself with the sewer system. she'd be needing it soon. She also needed to pay an ally a visit.

"So I've heard. Things seem to be going decently in Metropolis, at least."

"If they come here, we will not be so lucky. How many clean and trustworthy cops can you organize together to form an underground if they do?"

"I can probably get about 7 guys together. Most of the force would still resist, obviously, but they'd also try to arrest you as soon as things smoothed out. You've really done a smashing job of making the wrong people mad, you know."

"I'm here to fix the city, not make the evil of the world like me. I've got five of my own that I would trust enough to bring with us as well. There's a place on the Blue line near Fireflaught Mount. Caved in old subway stop near there, accessible only via sewers. I've been stockpiling the few weapons I've picked up down there in case I ever ended up needing them, moved some food down there as well today. That would seem the best meetup place if we need to execute this last resort plan. We won't win, but we can keep them on their toes and weakened until we get backup from somewhere."

"They do seem to be avoiding minor population centers. It's weird. Like they're... trying to get as much attention as possible. Distract from something."

"Not much we can do to find out for ourselves. I'll be seeing you around."

Well, things were getting a bit slow. Still, Swift was not exactly expecting an entire fucking army to pop out of the ocean today. At least the american army was reacting quickly, and managing evacuation, so he could stop teleporting and flying people all over the place and actually work at the matter at hand. And what was at hand, exactly? well, this ship shelling him was probably a good start. His body dissipated into what looked like flecks of ash, as he momentarily stepped into the plane of shadows, took two steps, and faded back into reality on top of the bridge. Blanketing himself in darkness armor, he jumped off of the roof and broke through the glass, executing an acrobatic roll as he formed a chakram like disc around either hand. "Y'know, ya gotta request permission to enter these waters. Very busy shipping channel," he observed as he flung the discs at the nearest two soldiers' heads. they slumped to the ground, as did the other two main guards as Shade produced and flung two more discs, Turning to face the remaining soldiers as he drew his cane off of his back, it finally dawned on him that this really was an army.

He said, as the darkness grew out from him, bathing the room. he quickly moved to work, his armor augmenting his movements as struck the first atlantean in the side. He went sprawling into his neighbor, as shade moved with the hit into a massive overhead swing that hit the head of the next nearest soldier. There was a distinctive crack that Swift was rather familiar with - that of a skull being split open. He'd have to dial things down a bit, it seemed. The sounds he made were also queuing the other soldiers into his location, and their blind shots were getting closer to the mark, one actually hitting the darkness protecting his body. He produced a few darts of darkness and threw them at the closest offender, whose left leg would now probably not be working for him for quite a while. He danced about the rest of the room in a similar style, taking out the rest of the soldiers with relative ease. The commotion was sure to attract attention - he could already hear them moving.

it probably wasn't in his best interest to have an entire army following him around, and there was a rather convenient air duct above him, so he clambered in. He started moving downwards as quickly as he could, slowly hovering through the ducts to avoid making any noise. He made it to the lower levels before things started getting too confusing, and popped out into what looked like sleeping quarters. He continued following the sounds of the engine room as he wandered down the halls, watching for patrols. There weren't any just yet - why would there be, this was their ship, so he made it to the engines rather easily. there were a few technicians hanging around, but they were rather easy to dispatch - the first one hit with a large mass of darkness streaming out from his hands, which he then formed into a large hand that slapped the other two into nearby walls. Holding out his staff, he formed a giant sledgehammer of it, and began indiscriminately smashing at important looking things until a few alarms started going off and the ship distinctively started listing in one direction. reforming the sledgehammer into a comically large drill, he quickly flew to the wall of the ship, and drilled his way out into the water.

As he flew back into the air, again dodging Atlantean fire, he could see the ship sinking. He could also see a massive sea monster... thing rear its head out of the water. He smiled. "You're next."
I should think about my next post... @Omega Man and other Justice leaguers, we should collab or something
<Snipped quote by Sep>

Well it helps that you guys aren’t asking for the cream of the crop Spidey villains haha

this is why I always claim a bunch of C-listers. they're just as good as the top villains, but no one cares that you're taking them :P
Claiming Purple Man and Spot if no one's offended by that

4:30 AM // Richard's Apartment (near the Littleneck Narrows Bridge) - Three Weeks After the Events of the Sample Post

The world was becoming quite a place these days. He would have thought that the wonder would have died down, but it really hadn't, especially not in new york: it would take him all 4 limbs to count the number of Reddit posts about various things this Spider-woamn was doing, not to mention some flying metal... thing, and a massive shootout in some fancy-ass nightclub. that last one didn't seem to involve any superbeings, which somehow made it the weirdest news of the last few days. Thor apparently existed in some remote ass Oklahoman town. Locally, there was apparently some sort of bat thing taking out equally freaky villains in Gotham, which made Swift a bit nervous about going over there. He - or it - appeared to have things enough under his control, and Richard wasn't really much of one to intercede with something that freaky...

But then... if he was that scared of some bat, was he really up for making himself known again? He sighed as he finished off his tea, setting it down resolutely. He needed to stop waffling in his own insecurities, get up off his ass, and take advantage of the abilities he had been given.

Bludhaven // USA:

5:23 AM // Melville Park

Richard was lost. not externally, he knew the city well. It was clear to him with every step he took though, that he had no idea what he was actually supposed to do here. He had decided that there was kinda no point in making a costume or otherwise hiding his identity, both because he didn't sew, and because any half-brained moron could just find some old news reports about his rescue and pinpoint down who he was pretty easily. But beyond that: what was a superhero actually supposed to like... do? Things don't just happen on the regular, and he didn't really know his way around the seedy sides of this town, or of anything... suspicious......

he stopped. he though he had seen something down that alley. he peeked his head back around the corner. Didn't see anything? A trick of the light? He looked back, to the safety of the sidewalk. He looked back, to the alley. Fuck it. Onwards he went, for exactly three steps, before he stopped abruptly again. Maybe it was just someone going into the back of a store that opened early. He shook his head. he WAS going to go investigate. And he was going to do it under the cover of DARKNESSSS

the alley surrounding him was blanketed fully in deep darkness - the dull light from the streetlamps no longer sneaking their way into the area. His vision, however, was perfectly clear. A neat trick he had discovered. He looked around now, everything in clear focus and outline, and saw a raccoon hanging out behind the dumpster.

He huffed, frustrated. a minute or two more of looking around confirmed his inability to find much of anything. He recalled the darkness, and wandered back out of the alley. He'd continue his walk for another half hour or so, making the loop back to his apartment. He needed to analyze the movements of this Bat-man, and figure out how he knew so much. He also needed to keep better track of the news, and of possible superhumans in his area, maybe get into contact with some of them.

Maybe he could start with some of the local business practices. He didn't know much, but he did know that the Desmonds owned the city, and they didn't seem to be doing it entirely legally.
@vietmyke@The Angry Goat Open fire comes from guns, and the flame that spurts from their mouth. Without fire, guns would be ineffective...so it kinda makes you wonder what they're using instead of gunpowder to start with.

Open shooty is hilarious and somewhere I have something similar but I can't find it. Ah well.

However, given that we are modern people in our world, with modern word usage, I suspect we are going to be using "fire" as a term for shooting. Or we could just say "shoot" (not "open shooty", mind, but similar idea). The fun question is if perhaps people wouldn't hold on to the "loose!" command from bow and arrow or sling.

nah, definitely open shooty
