Gerards sudden appearance caught his attention. Indrau took a couple of steps closer to the captain and the princess, settling both hands on the head of his cane, left over right. He stood casually but his shoulders were tense under his coat as he leaned closer to Gerard. He had been about to ask what had caught his attention when a commotion from the gardens caught his eye.

He was close enough to hear most of what was said, and it was enough to catch his interest. He looked around and spotted Tyeathe moving closer. He nodded in her direction. Indrau turned back to Gerard and the Captain. He almost relished the opportunity to have something to do, even if it turned out to be nothing.

"My advice is to not speak unless you have something of import to say. You seem to be doing well so far. Let someone know if anything else comes to mind."

He hopped the young knight caught the meaning behind his message. The head of his cane rotated with a click that was inaudible below the conversation in the room. Now only friction held the magic deadening blade from being unveiled.

Shir had been about to respond when they were interrupted by another adventurer. She looked from him to the stack of cards and back.

"Were were actually about to start a game of cards." She gestured at the table. "We were actually about to enjoy a game of cards, perhaps someone else might actually be interested in you joining them..."

She gave him a pointed look before turning back to the Hundi couple and gestured for Corrine to deal out hands. She had little patience for someone so blunt that they wouldn't try to have a conversation before trying to work their way into a group. The shadow by her side continued to stare at him for a moment longer before turning away with a dismissive shrug.

One of the two looked more suited to be working a business in a city than adventuring. Her partner looked decidedly more dangerous and possibly carried the other one through jobs. The first one was likely another mage, possibly of some power since she had partnered with someone that looked as competent as the second.

"I am merely very pale, no need to worry about my health but I unfortunately sunburn easily on such bright days." She gestured to the shadow. "I do much better in the dark. Maybe we could spend some time here and see what the evening brings."

It was a terrible summer's day. The sun was shining dreadfully, the birds were making a cacaphony of noise, and people out clogging the streets. In short, a terrible day to be outside and any who were willingly were clearly insane.

A pale, dark haired girl pressed herself deeper intro the shadows against a building, her imagination conjuring burning and blackened skin at the merest thought of venturing into the sunlight. But she had no choice but to venture out this far. Her small room that she rented had become stifling even with the windows covered.

Summer was clearly the worst time of year. Shir would much rather be back on the east coast where there was at least the chance of a cool breeze of of the sea. She sighed. At least this wasn't Thaln. "What a pain..."

She had another reason to venture out on such an unfortunate day. She was almost out of money and across the street lay the adventurers guild. She grimaced and picked thje nearest patch of shadow before dashing across the street and into the guild hall.

There were somer new faces in there. Usually she came in the middle of the night but the heat of the dayhad forced her out. She walked around the outside of the room to get to the quest board, her shadow not quite matching her movements. Maybe there would be a nice cool dungeon she could check out.

The conflict near the quest board became more involved as someone else stepped in. She stopped next to a table already acting as a seat to a pair of hundi and sat down near the end of the bench. She reached down and drew up a shadowy figure that say next to her.

"Have you two already taken up a request then?"

Rook listened carefully to the rules. He had been hoping for a more open ended contest that might allow him to win some concessions from the dragon-girl but this would have to do.

"This sounds straightforward enough. I was hoping you would offer something up to the victor."

He stepped out quickly and took a card at random and then grabbed a brush and ink from his bag. He turned the card over and signed his name across the back, fanning it dry before handing it back. He gave her a wink.

Indrau made his way carefully over to the group around the princess. One of the few positive points to walking with a can that he grudgingly acknowledged was that in a setting such as this party nobody ever typically asked him to dance. It was something that, even as a younger man in his fathers household, he had little patience for. So often there was some political motivation or some real or imagined hidden meaning with such actions. Leave that to his brother, Indrau much preferred things be taken at face value.

He stopped a respectful distance away from her highness, bracing both hands on the head of his cane. The captain was speaking with her now so her drummed his fingers thoughtfully on the head of his cane and thought of what to say.

@Myrna Minkoff My brown skinned character from another thread in the same setting was perfectly fine.

The GMs world isn't just law, it is the word of god. Accept it or get out. You're resorting to personal attacks because you can't accept that you might be wrong about something in an established setting.
I'm still here!

Indrau glanced over his shoulder at the altercation and shrugged. "She may be but I admire her restraint." He lowered his voice a fraction. "Had I been in her position and vexed so, I might have called the man out and shown either his cowardice or his blood to the world."

He turned to face the front of the room as the princess was announced. Indrau tossed back the last mouthful of the drink, slightly disappointed by the small size of the glass before placing it onto a table for a servant to collect.

"I suppose I should put in my appearance sooner instead of later."

He glanced towards the princess again and reached into his shirt, pulling out a Mayonite symbol on a fine silver chain. It matched well with his blue and white outfit. He switched his cane into his left hand, anticipating the need to shake hands and started off in that direction.
