Max just smiled as James comforted him. It was always nice to hear someone else tell him that he wasn’t a complete screw up, even though it was hard to deny that he was. If anyone could potentially understand his predicament here it was James. The man could heal himself on a cellular level and do so to others as well, that could not be an easy task to do. He thought back to the days at the Underground as how James had expended a lot of his energy helping save the lives of those there alongside Sapphires medical expertise. Max slunk down a bit more and leaned his head on Jame’s shoulder as he stared off into the sea of people. Max was quite confused at Niah’s warning until he saw some tendrils spew out of Goose’s mouth and wrap around some treats she was holding, retracting back as he let out a small meow. Clearly this was no ordinary cat, but that would hardly stop him from giving the small bean the pets it wanted and deserved.

The team was notifying those who weren’t aware of the power that these infinity stones could hold. They seemed to be able to corrupt those who attempted to wield them, needing some form of vessel made of non organic matter to help wield its power without the worry of being influenced by its immense cosmic energy. If a vessel was all it needed, and a scepter was what was used before, then what was to stop Max from creating a cane with an open setting for the jeweled stone to sit atop of for ease of use. Would his cosmic powers work against the powers of these stones? Or will they work in tandem allowing him to wield this power with better ease than others? Before he could speak and let the others know of his idea to create a vessel for these stones, a portal similar to Klara’s and Runa’s opened up revealing an attractive older guy who presented himself as Dr. Strange. Cassandra motioned towards him and Max just began to hope that he was on their side. He stood up using his cane he’d created earlier to stablize himself as he extended a hand out for Strange to shake. ”That would be me. Maximilian Gray, a mutant with the ability for magick and Conjuration under my classifications though it appears there are a few bits and bobs that I can do outside those realms so i’ll have to reclassify my x-gene at a later time. As one of my...teammates, said we believe that the mutant Wanda Maximoff, daughter of Magneto and a sorceress in her own right, was able to warp the very fabric of reality and create her own world. Whether this point in time exists within the known reality or whether it is a paralleled one created by her by transplanting others here is unknown. I do appreciate your urgency in coming here. I was unaware of your title of Sorcerer Supreme until moments ago, it seems we are looking to either get her to change the world back somehow, find something called the infinity stones and wield them to change the world back, or find another option in fixing reality. Do you have any ideas for us?”

Demetri made his way into the cafeteria, his hair now damp and curling thanks to the swim he had just before coming in here. He was wearing a black crop top and black swimming trunks with his towel hanging over one shoulder. He grabbed his tray and a set of utensils, the food appearing one his plate with roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans neatly placed across it. Demetri made quick work of the chicken, using his knife to scrape off all the meat off the bones, leaving them bare. There was now about three bones left on his plate along with the food as he made his way towards the fire and dropped in the bones and nothing else. ”There ya go pops, enjoy” This was a ritual he performed every day, getting some food that contained bones, gizzard, or other parts not usually eaten and then offering them up to Zeus, never truly giving him a morsel of the meats.

As he made his way over towards his table he noticed Kiera was sitting alone as usual, he paused and wondered if he should sit with her or invite her over with him and Andy but then noticed Jerkiel speaking to her. Demi’s eyes narrowed as he made up his mind and walked over towards Kiera, placing his tray next to her on the table and looking over at Zeke. ”I know Apollo is the god of disease but...did he really have to send his worst disease to poor Kiera over here? Really you’re about the most distasteful thing he’s ever created.” His sight now turned towards Kiera with a smile that exposed his dimple on his cheek. ”Care to join me and Andy over there? Might call over Athanasia and Arthur too, make sure the kids don’t get into too much trouble you know? I’d hate to have to see you spend another moment with...I’m sorry what was your name again blondie?” It was always hit or miss with him and Ezekiel, he’d be swooning over him one second and then being snarky the next. Feelings were hard and infatuation was harder, so Demetri played it by ear and saw how the winds of emotion would take him on a case by case basis when it came to the golden haired boy of Apollo.

Veil seemed to be over all the petty fighting just as much as Max was. Ofcourse, she attempted to diffuse the situation like a leader should, while Max only fanned the flames to allow himself to let out his frustration and anger from all that had just transpired. This ofcourse illicited responses from both Veil and Havok, the former showing disappointment while also taking a stab at him, the latter defending his side girlfriend with a thinly veiled threat. One that if pushed hard enough Max was more than willing to test out; after all, kicking Havoks ass would do wonders for stress relief. But no, Max decided the best course of action was to keep on walking into the Underground and alert them of the situation. He was immediately met with some minor hostility, a mutant he hadn’t noticed before was standing with rebar in hand. An understandable reaction based on the state of the building at the moment, and James explanation of a two pronged attack. Now that didn’t sit right with him.

His thoughts didn’t get a chance to wander far as Sunshine, the worlds most ironic name, informed him that the Morlock attack ended in Ergs death. A mutant attack at the same time as a purifier attack in the tunnels? This sounded way too coordinated to be those rednecks idea, but it definitely couldn’t be a coincidence. The question is what mutant would willingly work with the purifiers? The only opposition he could think of was the Hellfire Club but they seemed way too well off to want to work with such low life scums like the purifiers, surely they could do better. Max was about to ask Casper who this Krakoa person was and who his father was to be sending him against them. That was unfortunately cut short as Casper decided to bolt just after mumbling something that Max didn’t quite catch, Jack following shortly after him. He figured that what ever was going on it was a sibling matter now and he shouldn’t interfere. So much had happened in such a short time, he figured it was best to focus on the task at hand. ”No monitor, but i was thinking we could find one, use a laptop, or if we have someone savy enough then maybe we can remove the hard drive and place it into a laptop, see what’s inside. Either way it was all I could salvage since a fight ended up breaking out. Rather not talk about that at the moment though.”

Jinx couldn’t help but giggle at the comparison between Anastasia and Emma Frost. It was true that the two were more similar than he’d care to admit. Both having powers of supreme mental prowess, and each having fallen in battle just moments ago. Really Anastasia could be her child, or even some weird genetic clone of hers...wait she wasn’t a weird genetic clone of hers was she? His face scrunched up as he thought on the subject, believing that if she couldn’t be trusted before, she definitely couldn’t be now that she’s her clone. The elevator opened up and revealed the two subjects of their conversation, Jinx giggling to himself once more when she asked them what they were talking about. ”Oh nothing, I was just thinking about how weird that kids powers were, giant candy? Really? I wonder what his super name would be, Sweet Tooth?” He laughed at his own joke as he made his way into the elevator.

”So what do you think Anastasia? Where should we head? What’s our next plan of attack? It’s getting a bit late so I wouldn’t mind just calling it a day but what’s this about a new mission and trains?” As the elevator rode down, she began to regale them with the details of their newest mission. A train heist, now that sounded like it could be some fun. It’d been so long since Jinx had been on a train, thinking back on it made him a little nostalgic for his carni life as well as his trip here. ”I love trains actually. Haven’t been on one in some time but it sure can be fun. Oh the mayhem and havock you can wreak when everyone is so close by and their life’s can cling on and depend on the tiniest of pins holding the carts together. So how do we want to do this? Air drop? Drive by? Do we have a teleporter? Or maybe we disguise ourselves as passengers until the time is right? So many possibilities so little time to think.”

Max just listened along and nodded as they each told him what they knew about the infinity stones. Part of him wondered how it was that he didn’t know or hear about these items of legend, looking around and noticing each and every one of the members who know about them were S.H.E.I.L.D. Operatives meaning that this was one of those pieces of information that could never become public knowledge. He sighed a bit as he awaited to hear back from Dr. Strange, wondering exactly who this man was aside from a psychologist. James had brought up a rather good point, why not use the stone to recreate Reality? It was worth a shot in theory but...could someone truly have enough of a grasp to not warp it in their own vision of what reality used to be? Would their subconcious not effect the outcome and create small butterfly affects that would be felt later on in the years? All of this information was a bit too much to take in, sure he had always wanted to play hero but...this was Avengers level hero and he didn’t have the experience in either reality to hand the tapestry of fate. ”I haven’t quite gotten a response back from this Dr. Strange, all I know so far is that he is a psychologist at a nearby hospital. Does that seem to add up with the version you know of him? Also if i may ask, who is he exactly?”

Max turned to look at the stealth team, finally acknowledging their arrival and taking special note of the tabby in their possession. ”What a cutie! Here Goose, come here pspspspspspsps.” Much to his content, Goose actually came towards the chaotic mess of a gay and began to purr against him, nuzzling Max’s leg as he sat. ”Who’s a good kitty, you are” His concentration was finally broken from the cat when a new voice appeared in his head. Presumably Dr. Strange who was asking him what master he served. ”Hey...Novikova? This man’s asking me what master I serve?” All the woman could offer him was a smirk and witty retort telling him that the man wasn’t exactly called Dr. Normal. Max blew a puff of air at his fringe in slight annoyance, right he’d have to answer this one his self. Grabbing hold of that tether he had created ealier Max replied ”I’m not sure I understand the question but...humanity? I seek to make this world right again, to fix the shift in reality that has transpired and go back to the one we all originated from. There are those of us who still recall the prime reality and we need help to get the world back to where it was. Will you help us? Keep in mind this is the last time tonight I can reach out to you like this, I’m fairly tapped and need to rest, just know I’m not far from where you are and have allies with these sling ring things if you need us to get you.” He turned to James and smiled a bit ”Hey, I can’t keep playing telephone with these two guys so what’re the chances you can just text your boyfriend for me? I feel like that might be easier.”

Demetri began to walk towards Jackson, still in his Rhino form, only shifting back into himself a few feet away and offering up a hand for him to shake. ”Sorry, may of gotten a little carried away there. No hard feelings though right?” A nervous chuckle escaped him as he awaited Jackson to say something. Aster however broke that awkward pause as he began to speak to him, telling Demetri that he could use his tent while he kept watch, only if he could clean himself up first ofcourse. Demetri rolled his eyes as he began to make his way over towards the tent. ”Thanks, and don’t worry i wont make a mess in what i can only assume is a pristine tent. Won’t take up too much room either so no stress there.” He gave the Hephaestus girl a nod, something along the lines of thank you for stopping that I was beginning to think he’d never yield.

He went over and grabbed what was left of his fish, eating the now cold meal as he tried to gain some energy back from both the fighting and shifting. Shifting was a lot like speedsters, switching between such varied sizes used up a lot of energy and could cause the user to become extremely hungry most of the times. Especially if that shape is used to do strong sprints like a Rhino or a Cheetah. Once done Demetri took one of the bones off the fish and held it in his mouth like a weed. He made his way to the edge of Asters tent and sat on at the entrance, keeping his feet outside of the tent and then shifting down into a black cat, bone still in mouth. The cat began to chew at the bone for a few moments before realizing it had to clean itself before getting inside. It gave a bit of a meow and a hiss towards any watching, lifting its leg up to block any view and then started to preen itself before going to sleep.

Max could hear the vague sounds of someone asking him to get the computer but he couldn’t quite tell who. His mind was still a bit of a haze from the shock of the previous events, now just repeating the same two words over and over again. Right. Computer. Right. Computer. Right... His feet shuffled slightly in the dirt lot, feeling the gravel crunch beneath his shoes as he adjusted his weight. There was a slight pinch on his shoulder, anchoring him back down and allowing the ringing to slowly subside and be replaced with the sound of Sapphire and Glimpse arguing once more. Their warbled voices now coming in clear as a slight twitch began to appear on Max’s right eye. He could feel anger and frustration bubbling up inside of him, it was this type of in fighting that caused problems like the ones that transpired at the Hellfire Club. As their arguing continued Max just stood there until he had enough of it. ”ENOUGH!” A small fire flared up near the two bickering mutants, intense heat flashing up against their bodies before subsiding and fizzling out. ”I am sick and tired of your constant bitching! We get it, you’re cold and hate new people and take time to warm to up because you don’t like change. Oh woe is ME! Seriously! You act like a spoiled child who fights and kicks until she gets her way! You don’t have to like us, you don’t even have to care for us, but you do need to care about the mission. I don’t know who this Emma Frost is or why you’re so worked up about it but did you see that building? It was huge! There was no way of knowing who we would see or what might happen. That was the whole point of RECON. Not attack and provoke. Now this Emma lady you’re so afraid of has our faces, powers, and who knows what more and she can most likely use that against us all because you had to go flying off the handles. I hope you’re happy, i hope you’re happy now! So if you don’t mind I’m going to take this computer that I salvaged and see if anyone inside can help with it. Until then maybe try to cool off you icey bitch!”

Max quickly turned on his heel and made his way to the car. He opened up the trunk, removing the computer he had placed in there and storming off towards the inside of the Mutant Underground. His face was stern and twisted into a scowl as he made his way past Negasonic and Leighton, offering a slight smile but nothing more as he stomped past and entered the Underground hideout. ”Mission wasn’t a total bust, I managed to steal a whole ass computer from there and hopefully there will be something on this damned hard drive that will make all of this mess worth it.” Max placed the computer down on the ground and took a few more steps in, looking around and noticing a few new faces. ”What happened here? And why are you here? Not that I’m complaining on seeing you guys again but...I wasn’t exactly expecting to see you so soon, like next day soon.” There was still hints of anger within his voice, residual feelings left behind from the explosion of emotion he just had outside along with the beating in his chest as his adrenaline ran high. Those who were a bit more perceptive though could probably tell that this anger wasn’t directed at any of them, rather it was directed at the results of his first mission.

Jinx fiddled around in his mind at the idea of Magneto again, one of his previous suspects but the more evidence he found the more he wondered if the Master of Magnetism was truly this sloppy. As Requiem hit the elevator button, there was slight pause. Now that was odd. Jinx had just used the elevator so it should have respodended rather quickly, was the cleaning crew coming so soon? Or maybe...Jinx’s mind switched at the thought of Emma approaching the pair and began to push his thoughts on the case further and further away as he started to think on the cute security guard he had met the day before. The way his eyes seemed to shimmer, his soft hair, that button nose and ofcourse that cute smile. Yes this guy seemed like he’d make a fine toy to play with, he only hoped that he was a mutant because otherwise he wouldn’t have much of a use for him other than pure entertainment.

Throughly distracted, Jinx absent mindedly blew a bubble with him gum and heard the loud pop, snapping him back towards reality and staring at Requiem. ”What? Did you say something?” He reeled his gum back into his mouth, the pink elastic substance smacking around in there as he waited for the elevator to open up. ”So, what do you think about that Anastasia chick? Her powers seemed rather usefull back there even if those she turned ended up being useless shots in the end...buuut it did removed a few pieces from the playing board for that fight which was nice. Bit of a glass canon though, her and Emma alike. Strong minds weak bodies i guess amiright? But man, i really thought she had blondie there for a second when she yeeted him out of that window. Who knew the kid could fly? And...create...candy? I’m not too sure what his powers are, maybe he’s like a power absorber and he got a few hits before entering? I don’t know, it’s all real weird if you ask me.”

Max leaned his head against the cold wall of the warehouse, eyes closed, as he heard someone approach him and sit down next to him. The warmth of another body’s presence was welcome in these cold times, yet the fact that so many people were asking him what he could or couldn’t do, made him want to tell whoever it was to go away. He was exhausted, and his pride was a bit hurt if he was to be honest. Sure, taking on Wanda was a huge task but...he really thought he could do it. Mano y Mano, spell for spell, but all he did was fizzle out in the face of adversity as he tends to do. Chaos magic...he never truly cared to go to Xaviers or most others in this reality to help quantify his powers, his x-gene, and it seemed he continued to use the same descriptors in this reality as he did in the original. Magick, Conjuration, Spells, but his powers always seemed more sporadic, chaotic in nature, and he did things he couldn’t always categorize. Before he could say anything the person near him spoke, a familiar voice starting a casual conversation with him in a time like this; leave it to James to have casual conversations when the fate of the worlds at stake.

Max’s eyes remained closed as he spoke, keeping his breathing steady and slow to help regain some portion of his energy back. His lips were moving but no sound was coming out of them, almost as if he was speaking to himself in a silent tone. A moment passed and he turned his head towards James to show that he was speaking to him but his eyes remained closed as he relaxed. ”Heh, you can say that again. What a fine mess we found ourselves in isn’t it? I don’t know the why of how this all happened. The reason escapes me. But that’s to be expected, I don’t personally know Wanda Maximoff. I don’t know why she would have done thus, but I do believe it was her who did it. Her mother...she restored my memories, gave me back who I was, who I am, and I feel that...felt that...it was because she thought I could change the world, take it back from the hands of who ever had done this. It wasn’t till later that I began to suspect Wanda. She was one of the few that I personally knew knew about the alternate reality and yet she kept denying it. So i figured it was either her, or she was afraid to speak of if before the king. The fight today though? That solidified my answer as to believing she did it. The raw power i felt from her spells, what she said to me, and her willingness to fight for this world...it has to have been her. It appears however, that I am not the saviour, I’m not the chosen one, the one who can vanquish her and return reality to its rightful place. I’m just Max from Washington, D.C. The kid who’s help only hurts...hell I’m surprised that I didn’t slaughter half the people during the teleport. I am gonna miss this power though, when we return back to where we belong and I’m back to simple tricks like setting places aflame. Oh, by the way, I just spoke to Casper. He’s fine, hiding away in some S.H.E.I.L.D. base in Baton Rouge trying to get an item that sounds like it came from a legend. Oh and he told me to tell his Baby Boy he loved him.”

At this point Max had finally opened his eyes, looking over to Novikova who was asking Max if he could locate Doctor Stephen Strange. A slight sigh escaped his lips as he took in the request. ”I can try to at the very least. Can’t promise anything. Oh, while I’m doing that I have a question for the room.” His voice was now louder, no longer his soft exhausted tone but more so the sound of someone who was about to ask a potentially important question. ”Who here knows what an Infinity stone is? And can you tell me what you know. I haven’t heard of such a thing in my life but it sounds like its important and a lot like a magical item from legends old or something. Gather your thoughts on it while I search for Strange and I'll let you know when I'm ready to hear it.” Max closed his eyes and began to search for Strange, finding that he isn't too far off, residing in the city at a nearby hospital as some form of psychologist. He began to speak once more, no sound leaving his lips as he sent a message to Strange.
Hey, you may not know me but my name is Maximillian Gray. I was asked to search for you in an attempt to find allies against the threats of this reality, or I suppose I should say the threat of this reality. You can respond to this message."
Another message was sent, this time to Casper.
"I'm not in your head, well not in the sense of telepathy i should say. Either way I'm not probing your mind, think of this like a walkie talkie. I know Jack is with you but is he...alright? Does he recall us too? We've had a few run ins with people who don't remember us and we just had our asses handed to us, we need allies and fast. Think you can help?" As much as Max hated asking Casper for help, he knew that out of the two brothers Casper was the only one who could speak to himself and not be seen as crazy. After all he does it all the time. "Alright, I'm ready for a lore dump if you have it. Then I'll give you info on this Stephen Strange character you seem to care about."

Many colorful characters were starting to make themselves known around the Quicksand. Not long after he had spoken, a clear soft voice could be heard coming from an odd looking boy. River’s eyes narrowed as he stared into his cup and then back again at the horned child wondering if this was all a ruse, a trap set up to knock him out and steal his coin purse. As he scanned the room he noted that he wasn’t the only one observing his cup, a pink haired lalafell managed to be doing quite the same thing and then looking back at the same query. Either they were having joint hallucinations, or there was an honest to Hydaelyn pajal present in the Quicksand with absolutely no supervision. As usual, the pajal’s question was one born of wisdom and age that his species tended to have. It was clear that these adventurers were needed but no one had bothered to actually ask what they were needed for until him. As River sat there and listened to the explanation, he turned to face the table with the lalafell and saw he was missing. His eye’s darted side to side as he searched for the pink haired troublemaker and finally found him inching closer to the pajal.

His eyes narrowed once more and then realized the staff that he was carrying with him. The ornate features up top were clear indicators that he was most likely a resident of Ul’Dah who studied in the thaumaterlogical arts and was more than likely curious as to the white magicks of this stranger of strangers. He’d be lying if he said that the magicks of both of them carried some interest and intrigue, finding himself wanting to know how it is that they control the aether without all of the geometric designs need for a proper casting. How do they channel the aetheric energies without causing catastrophic results as a result of a sloppy rune, or sigil. His thoughts were broken as another stood up and gave a rousing speech on valor or some shite that mattered little to the lalafellen summoner, and his attention was snatched again as a loud clatter could be heard across the establishment. A miq’ote clad in red had managed to fall and hopefully not damage any books in her clumsy display. Rivers lips remained tightly sealed, then a small smile, and then full out laughter as his arms flailed about, his childish voice ringing across the Quicksand as he couldn’t contain himself from laughing at the others misfortune.

As time would pass, and his humor quelled, River once more paid attention to every question asked, and watch how the chocobo headed Hyur would respond. Each answer making her seem more and more ill fit for the position of leadership, making that title so much easier to snatch if any of these brutes (save the cat in red) wished to take it and show the Free Company some real leadership later on down the line. It wasn’t her fault she was handed this responsibility nor this task, but nevertheless it was hers to bear at the moment and she needed to act the part until either she or another could figure it out. Upon the meetings end, a good handful of adventurers seemed to sign up to the task and agree to help get this title back into her hands, though by which means they would use is up for debate, we shall see how the dice are rolled.

Excitement and adrenaline coursed through the child of Zeus as he watched Jackson get pummeled to the ground. Pride began to fill him as he noticed that all his monster slaying and forest practices weren’t for not. That is, until Jackson began to comment on the unfairness of the match. If Demetri was being honest, he had thought the match was unfair from the beginning, but not because he could shift. No, it was due more in part to the fact that Jackson was a child of war who has been trained enough to go on missions and most likely had way more combat expertise than Demi had. This small victory was quickly followed by a feeling of remorse and uncertainty now eating away at him as he wondered if Jackson even had powers to use in a fight; that is, until the Hephaestus girl and Aster spoke up and essentially reprimanded Jackson, stating that Ares kids rarely played fair, so why should he this time?

So it is that Demetri figured, if you got it, flaunt it. Flaunt he did. His nostrils flared as his eyes narrowed down onto his target, grunting noises could be heard coming softly from the rhino-boy as the hot breath of the creature kicked up small tufts of dirt into the air. His right hoof began to tap against the earth, preparing for another charge. Head held low, eyes darted upwards as he let out another grunt and began his canter into a full charge. He used his armored shoulder to drive straight into Jackson, tossing him down once more, kicking up dirt into his face as he continued past him, turning and sliding into a halt. Dirt was flying in the air, the nights breeze blowing it past them to reveal the Rhino still staring Jackson down, his ears flapping to help keep away the dust. He charged once more, this time using his bowed head and horn to lift Jackson off the ground and toss him up as he continued past him finishing his second charge. Surely the kid of Ares should know to concede at this point.
