The persisting feeling that one's personal life hurddles are creeping into one's roleplay life. The need for escapism is real.

@scrawls sounds like a plan :D

@Enkryption colour me intrigued! Looking forward to what you come up with.

Nope, totally open posting at your leisure!

@Wayward sorry for the wait on the skills, I hope to have a complete list latest tomorrow. Yung has both intelligence and wisdom, do you want him to have any magic as well? I imagine his meditation might play into that. If you like dnd monk skills would you like missile deflection as well? And since he has max Dexterity and stealth capabilities, he might be able to do some movement things like running along walls /rooftops/rough terrain easy.

@OwO@Dark Cloud I cannot wait to see Wormwood's reaction to Terminator Ingrid emerging from the river xD

In keeping to the base of a DnD build, he'd have access to abilities that utilize Ki. This mostly gets implemented in techniques that buff or modify actions. Ki-enhanced strikes, the Flurry of Blows mentioned. The movement skills you mentioned and deflection also work.

Things that I eventually want to work him up to would be things like firing off a proverbial Hadouken, and extended buffing periods. But that would come later.

Just as an FYI, Rinan is his first name, Yung his family name; did that in a more Eastern style (because he's a monk).

Orin Ackermore

The early mist began to drift and lift out. Orin awaited, stoic and still, for the return of the guard. Not long in waiting, he spotted the pair of figures come forth, breaking the haze as they went. One was the guard; the other was an unfamiliar figure. The Captain squinted, trying to make out the newcomer as their features became clearer. So it's not the Rancher's daughter. Rather than the young, reheaded daughter of Talon, the person approaching was a grown women, clad in blue adornments that would have been pristine among nobility had it not been subjected to the farmlands and fields.

The captain held to the woman's story with keen interest. Her name rang a feint bell in his mind. It had been routine in the days of the Hylian King for high military and noble families to brush shoulders; he felt somewhat more at ease in the understanding that she was loyal to Hyrule, though skepticism still held a loose hold. Her tale was one of both intruige and worry for Orin. He had heard rumors of a figure of Goliathan stature patrolling the Kingdom and enforcing Ganondorf's will. Now he had confirmation that such a figure existed. It was unsettling to know of such a fierce Lieutenant of the enemy, but helpful at the same time.

When her tale concluded, Orin took his turn to speak.

"Captain Orin Ackermore," he said, introducing himself with an open hand patting lightly against his chest. "It's good to see that you're alive and well enough for the times, Ma'am." He paused and thought his next words. "You're welcome to stay here, of course. The people of Kakariko have been beyond hospitable to refugees from other parts of Hyrule, though it may take a day to sure up a suitable arrangement. For now, however, I'll need you to follow me. I've more inquiries of the state of matters beyond here."

=====/=====

The guard standing by Lanayru, silently dismissed by the Captain, spotted Dekkori sitting nearby. "Ah. Dekkori." The guard cracked a smile; the Motherly nature of the Deku Scrub had a way of lifting the tensions. "Just a refugee from Lon Lon Ranch. If you would, the Captain mentioned some injured soldiers that need tending to though."
Maybe sooner than that considering that almost nobody has joined, but I understand I need to be patient and that these things take a while to get popular

Might help to elaborate on the setting a bit more. Like Historical time period vs. Modern.
@Mae

Should I, for lack of a better term, set up my character with level 1 type skills?

As a monk, he spends most of his time, meditating, practicing martial arts, or tending to the upkeep of the Monastery.

His main proficiency lies in acrobatics and athleticism.

From a martial standpoint, I'll pull from the DnD stock and give him, for starters, the Flurry of Blows technique; in one attack action he can string together multiple rapid attacks. However you see fit to limit this is OK with me.

His elven heritage, if I'm not mistaken, gives him a degree of Stealth as well.

Stepping Into the Storm

Approaching Aurora, @WolfLover

Caitlin entered the house to the wall of sound from whatever brand of club music the DJ was blasting. The people inside seemed mostly oblivious to the fact that anything odd had happened; the barrier might has well have not existed to any of them. Cait, standing between the foyer and the dining room darted her eyes every which way through the swelling crowd of party animals.

There were only a handful of people that she could have stood to look for in that moment. Carlisle would have been on the top of that list; she remembered being told that he and his family were the ones most strongly connected to the barrier. Not seeing Car through the gaggle of people, she looked then for Lilith; she might have an answer, and having someone friendly to shadow felt right to Cait too.

Lilith wasn't around either.

For a second she thought about finding Daniel; the thought was dismissed almost as soon as it came. Cait shook her head.

Holding onto her breath, Cait weaved haphazardly around the others. Emerging from a pool of people, she was facing the doorway back to the veranda. But her attention was drawn instantly to a spot off to the side. There! Cait spotted Aurora, seeming beside herself. It was a peculiar, and altogether bothersome sight. For the short time Cait had gotten to know Rora, she had always been the level headed sort. If she was in a panic...

Cait shook her head again. She approached Aurora calmly, being sure she wouldn't sneak up on her. "Hey. Aurora?" She spoke just loud enough to cut over the music. Her calm facade masked the well of fear she felt inside; she felt she owed Aurora the same groundedness she had long projected. "What's going on?" She lowered voice a bit. "The Barrier is down... does Car know?"

Toni smiled gently as the woman greeted her, bowing her head in courtesy as she introduced herself; "Eudora Abby," but she went by the name Yiya. It seemed easy enough to remember.

The younger woman jumped slightly as Yiya continued, suddenly beckoning for her to sit down. Red faced, Toni nodded and sat herself down upon the bench beside Yiya.

She settled into her seat, and listened as another girl arrived at the station. Waving quickly when Yiya introduced her to Neomi. A mixture of awkwardness and comfort whirled around in her heart as she met the locals gathered for the task; she hadn't lived in Oaken long, and hadn't had much need to venture to most parts of the city, the Burrow being one such place. She was meeting her companions now for the first time. Even so, sensing that having a handful more acquaintances, if not friends, would do her good; the next few days would be an opportunity to expand her circle and become less of a stranger.

With introductions out of the way, Yiya had gone on to explain more who she was and about the job at hand. It proved a pleasant surprise to Toni that Yiya was also not from Oaken City.

Toni's attention was drawn then to the spider-like mechanation accompanying the woman. Inside its terrarium stood the a tree that could cure disease caused by the Rue. It sounded like nasty business, having one's body struck down by the otherwise innocuous noises of the world.

Fascinated as she was, Toni couldn't help but question the need for such a laboring journey. If the tree produced the medicine that could cure the disease, why not have something made in Oaken? Would the machine even travel well through the Corridor? Could the Rue harm it and the tree it was preserving?

There's got to be something more to it. As Yiya finished speaking, the light of a train glowed from up the Corridor. Following soon after came the rumbling of the locomotive as it rolled down the tracks.

Toni was about to ask her questions when another sense kicked in. It was the same feeling from the night before. Yet somehow, it was different as well. It started the same, with prickling skin and shivers off the surface. But where the prior evening had been as a passing cloud, this one lingered, digging deep into her flesh. If she had to guess, it signaled something stronger than before; or some level of intent.

"There's something here," she said to the others. She stood upright and pointed towards the tracks. There, the red lights of the incoming train illuminated the forming mass of thick, dark mist. It was larger than the Rue she had seen in the past, it's fog-like form rising up to the height of two grown men.

Toni looked to her new companions. "We may need to deal with this one."
