Making the mistake of wanting to be "reasonable" in SF and Fantasy... not a good idea.

The Lizard could move, swiftly dealing with the two guards standing inside the merchant airlock. Tserv could appreciate the restraint that had to go into only knocking them out, following their captains orders. There was discipline in the man... and none in the others. The knight among them managed to land in the face of the guard knocked out against the wall with his shield before charging ahead. Conrad ran off on his own. His group B comrade went out in the hallway only to get shot at. The slime-thing disappeared into a vent. And the guy with the moving armor went the same way as their knight, weapons pouring away, the Nhliki soldier only hoped they were at least trying to take prisoners.

He walked out from the airlock and placed himself ahead of Ranna as she mentioned her inexperience. It did surprisingly not annoy him as much as it would have, but he could see the senseless mess left by the knight and their man/robot team. He could hear them off to some hallway... It sounded like they were arguing, kids. Straining his ears he heard more firing in another direction.

-You said you were scanning the ship Ranna? Tell me when to turn and I'll lead the way. he said. The smaller corridors of the merchant ship made the more than 10 feet tall Nhliki soldier hunch down, towering over the young woman. His suit made it look almost comical, until he unholstered two of the plasma-rifles from his back, took them in his lower arms and began walking straight ahead on the remaining four limbs, going past Gold like a big fourlegged spider. The partly cybernetic tail had been reestablished as a part of him and was now hovering just above his head, ready to strike out.

------------------------------------

The argument between Rama and William had given a group of merchants time to amass just around a corner, unleashing hell upon them as they got in sight, not proper soldiers or guards their fire would be unfocused, but when there are 11 plasma-rifles firing towards you in a tiny corridor you either duck or get ducked.

------------------------------------

Meta's path towards the engine-room attracted most of the attention, and more and more fire barraged its armor, along with the occasional explosion from crew no longer caring about their ship. Following behind it was a fools errand, as it couldn't deal with every new enemy, leaving many to appear behind it. Before long circuits began melting inside it from the excess heat radiating through the armor of the robot, systems failing or overloading, the suit was on the road towards a big heap of scrap.
Some of the others were waking up, checking to see if anyone else was ok. Obviously everyone who touched the corpse were, but those that didn't were already dead from the fall or burnt away. Fantastical phenomena appearing around or within some of them, the waking ones, whether it was noticable or not. Robert could feel it, he could feel everything if he focused. A weight pushing down on him, harder and harder the more he tried to sense his surroundings. The world resisted him, pushed his awareness back. The pain from the voice was nothing against this, the slowly growing pounding behind his eyes.

He could relinquish the pain, he could let go of the surroundings.
Never
Everything had been by design, their very lives fated and without any chance. They had been mindless puppets. Never again. If he let go they might creep in again, he could not let that happen. He was himself, and he would die sooner than being controlled again.
He drew his minds eye close, barely a feet around himself, the pounding didn't subside, but it stopped growing. get up
The boy didn't stand up, he simply rose up from the ground, as if a rope was pulling him up. It hurt, it crushed him within his own mind. But he damn well felt it, he did it out of his own fucking choice. Looking around he glanced over everyone else, what did he think of them, what did he feel about them? He didn't know, but he was going to find out, and he was going to keep watch, he was going to decide.

-I'm fine, and yes, Dean's hands were burning, are you ok Dean?. he said.
Ok, camp is done and I'm able to post quicker... Maybe I should add another character?

@Letmehaveone2 did you still need neutral NPCs btw? I have an idea for a group of such.
It had of course been too much to hope for that the guy with the demonic arm, approaching him, would have stayed back as he told him to. None ever listened.
At least he didn't step up to him and thought he could somehow help, or worse, attacked him, those that attacked never lasted long.
This guy instead clapped his hands together, Enormel could feel some form of energy building around the newcomer and as the guy brought his palms to the ground he could sense the energies flowing out around them.

-Not magic, but not a mental power either... Give it to me! Lemrone tugged through the protective spell coursing around them as walls of dirt and stone sprung up in a circle, trapping the other guy with them. Both Enormel and Lemrone stopped dumbstruck for a moment. This guy was an idiot.

-"Strengthen your spell, or allow me to try and help. I have closed us off to prevent others from seeing."-

...
As Emlem stood staring he didn't notice the robotic figure landing on the wall above them.
...

All three things the boy said made Enormel question his ability to assess situations, and Lemrone was laughing deafeningly inside his head.
Strengthening a spell when the power and energy fueling it was working against you, wonderful idea, like stating the obvious.
How exactly did he plan to help, by offering himself as food?
Preventing others from seeing if anything made it harder to keep Lemrone from taking control.
As his power was still laughing with abandon Enormel saw a chance, if he didn't use it, it would mean giving in to Lemrone.

-Many'd have to die. So I'll refuse. Enormel said, casting his arms out fingers spread, he could feel the ambient energies around them.
Chemical energy holding living things together and keeping them alive, heat permeating everything, life-force of living things, spiritual energy leaking from some astral plane. Electromagnetic fields all around, and everywhere magic, like it was an integral part of the world they were in, elemental power was almost radiating from the night. There were also energies not as easily classified or harnessed, weak divinity, and conceptual forces flowing through and in between the rest. This has to be enough

As his fingers began tapping and drawing lines and symbols in the air, the spherical hull of the protective spell started rippling, wisps of darkness casting their unlight upon it. Suddenly a shock went through Emlem and the spell they had been upholding burned away. A faint mist of energy around them.
-... You're giving in? We'll take their powers and SURGE! Lemrone screamed inside of his head when he was no longer bound in the spell. Enormel could feel his power gather in anticipation. It would be a gamble.

-Waas Ha gheels abernaft twos mer krima noerla. ALL IS OURS! Enormel breathed out.
His head rocked back and his eyes and mouth opened wide, wisps of darkness burning from them. A shock could be felt through the air, like the beat of an enormous drum. And then energies started coursing towards Emlem, those attuned to magic would feel as if the mage had suddenly become the center of a mealstrom. Others would feel a breeze blowing towards him, making the trees sway in the wind. The grass around them withered as it's very life was sucked from it, the same happened to insects and other weak life, temperature dropped rapidly.

-Ahahahahaha Wahahahaha! More. More. Give me MORE! Lemrone's voice could be felt rather than heard, a telepathic sound radiating through the energies flowing towards them. He was so lost in the savage joy of taking every filament of energy inside themselves he didn't notice how Enormel weaved the remnants of the protective spell. The fact that he was separating the active part of Lemrone together with the new energies hidden by the chaotic tide.

Pressure was building in Enormel's head, the act of taking in so much energy so quickly made him feel ready to burst, but he had to drown Lemrone in it before stopping. When he felt every fiber in his body and every strand of his spirit burning in pain he fell down hard on his knees. Gasping for air as wisps of power twitched through his skin. It had only been a few minutes but his mind was convinced it had experienced years in agony, and it still was. Containing all this new energy took every bit of concentration and focus he had, even with the help of the reversed protection spell.

-Your wall would not have been enough. Enormel said. He was sweating and looked half dead of exhaustion. At the moment he was as helpless as a newborn child. A newborn child possessed by a monstrous demon.
There appeared to be some kind of commotion just out his sight, he could see people moving about outside the tavern, but the lights and screaming was coming from the other side of it.
He could feel Lemrone coursing through the protection spell, but the distraction wouldn't last long, he had to find a way to focus. If he didn't have complete control when any of the others, whoever they were, found him, it would be bad.

Maybe, maybe I could occupy him long enough, maybe... Enormel couldn't finish the thought as he felt a shift in the spell, something was close. Looking up he could see a young man with a demonic arm slowly approach him through the forest.

-Don't think I've seen such energy before. Hehehe hehe give me Control!

A lance of pain shot through the mage, making him stagger. The spell around him crackled, sparks of dark energy illuminating the sphere.

-Stay back! Enormel said. Holding a palm out towards Aion. He had to distract Lemrone, something, something close.
My post will be up in a few hours :)
And isn't that your decision to make as the GM ;)
Ok all, a little announcement from your friendly coGM Wind:
I'm currently taking care of kids at a summer camp, as to why my seeming absence. If anyone was wondering :)

The first cycle is done and stuff is happening. Now the funny thing is that the plan was for us to already be on the merchant ship. Somehow this plan got lost in the posts, it might have been our try at hurrying up the start that did it.

But nonetheless, steps have been taken and reality has changed to accommodate the posts. All thanks to our lovely GM.

For the future however, I'd like everyone to glance over the GM-posts a few extra times. If anything is unclear we will clarify if asked.
It will make our work easier and the story move quicker.

So with that said, let's kill some merchant scum!
(... That sentence seems somehow wrong, is it just me?)

And a poor mage has joined the fun :D
I was a bit unclear on how the placing of chars was, so I left it open for you all to interact with him.
Darkness congealed in the clearing outside the rundown tavern, slowly the shape of a young man could be seen, standing up as wisps of darkness put themselves at rest within him and his attire.
When his form had stabilized he seemed to relax, and fell down to the ground panting. After a few moments he calmed down, hit the dirt with his fist and stood up again, looking around himself.

-A forest, good. Maybe there won't be anyone here. he said. Then he noticed the tavern, and other, people.
Nonononono! Why are there people! he spun around, visually taking in the whole area around them, there seemed to be people entering and exiting the tavern, but there were also people who stood around. Enormel could feel his control slipping, the multiversal sidestep had left him drained. But he had saved people by stepping, hundreds of people. From himself, from themselves. If only his other part could stay away for a few hours, he had thought. Then maybe he would stay in control this time.
A voice flashing through his mind clawed that wish to shreads.
-I see food Eno... Were you trying to keep this from me?
-...
-Oh don't be like that. It's such a lovely scenery.
-I will not let you hurt them Lem. I am in control!
-YOU UNGRATEFUL HUSK! I'LL RIP THEM ALL TO PIECES AND MAKE YOU WATCH AS I GORGE! Enormel put his hands to his head as a mental avalanche of imagery flashed before his eyes. All memories of people they had slaughtered.
He could feel Lemrone moving inside, pushing on his very being to be let loose. Wisps of darkness flickered to life from his clothes and body, dripping down around him and pooling at his feet. Lemrone screaming for control through every filament of it, hungrily taking the chemical energy of the grass turning it to ash.

For those close by it would seem that Enormel was preparing for battle, his left hand dropping from his head and twisting his fingers to form symbols and commands in the air, the pool reaching up to touch it. Instantly a ripple coursed through the darkness and it flew up around him in a translucent sphere of energy. A moment later there was no trace of it ever being there.

Emlem dropped his hands by his side and looked up around him breathing heavily.
He was only partly focused on his surroundings, the rest sensing the movements of the protection-spell he wove to distract and mitigate Lemrone. He only hoped none would see him as a threat and attack, he'd loose control.
