Athena Wilson | Hallway to Lounge

Mentions: @Aquanthe @Jinxer @Utrax

Athena found herself frowning at the lack of socialization from Marcus. What had she done to him that was so bad that he had to get away from her so bad? The woman watched as rejection radiated off of Marcus before he left her alone in the hallway. Part of her wanted to chase after him and demand what his problem was, and another part of her wanting to figure out if she had done something wrong. Instead, Athena found herself crossing her arms and turning back to the lounge, where everyone had gathered by now. She couldn’t help but look over her shoulder a few times to take a glance or two at Marcus, her anger flaring up each time she did so.

“That’s what I get for trying to be nice to people…” her voice came out low enough to only speak out loud to herself, her eyes scowling at the ground. Once she had neared the door, she looked up and noticed Sienna standing at the door. Athena neared her, and once she was close enough, she cleared her throat to not startle Sienna. “Hey,” the woman smiled a bit before looking inside and seeing everyone watching Arthur intently. He was still speaking when she got to the door, and she managed to catch the last bit before he ended whatever speech he was giving out.

’Should I say something? Should I tell them what I was told?’ She pondered it for a moment, taking a good look at everyone’s face. ’No. I’ll keep quiet until the right time comes. They won’t accept any truth right now’. Her eyes shifted back to Arthur before stepping away from the door and leaning against the wall, still next to Sienna. “Do you think the excitement of the moment caused your ability to, in a way, activate? That’s how mine first started.” Her voice was quiet and aimed only towards Sienna as she tried to figure out if these people worked the same way that she did.

'This is such a mess. How could they quarantine me with people who have no idea of what's going on with them? This wasn't part of the plan.. at least not that I remember.'

Athena scowled at the ground as she tried to figure out what the purpose of all of this was. Perhaps she was placed with them to help them calm down and learn to control what little they know of their abilities? She never had a facility full of staff that was willing to help at her disposal. These people did. As she thought quietly, outside of the room, the brunette could feel eyes boring into her. Her head quickly turned upward, away from the ground, and her eyes scanned one side of the hall to the other, until they fell on Marcus. One of her eyebrows lifted a bit as she watched him with curiosity.

'What is he doing?'

Her head tilted slightly as she watched him fumble with the doorknob, that belong to a door not too far from her. She debated if he was scared of her or possible appalled by her. Both very plausible since she considered herself a horrible person.

In that moment, Athena forgot completely about everything going on in the lounge, even as Arthur and others found their way inside. She had to go thank the young man for trying to help her, even if she did manage to end up with a face full of hurt and on another hospital like bed. Gathering enough courage, Athena took a deep breath and began to walk over to Marcus, trying to look as non-bitch like as possible. If there even was a way to make herself look more approachable.

"Hi," she muttered once she was close enough to where she felt comfortable. It amused her that Marcus was a bit flabbergasted but she kept talking no matter what, "I should formally introduce myself. My name is Athena, and I would also like to thank you for trying to help me, although I don't remember much." The woman smiled, genuinely, at the man in front of her. She could tell that she made him feel uncomfortable, but something told her that he felt like that around everyone. "I think it would be a good idea if we go in the lounge. Try to figure out why people are acting the way they are?"

Athena had watched with wide eyes as everyone in the room seemed to lose control of just about everything. 'Have they never experienced their so called abilities?' The woman stepped to the side as people began moving about. She had managed to remain in the doorway, wanting to keep her distance from the water that had turned into a double helix. With this many people around, she wanted to be as far as possible from any place that screamed danger.

'The doctor said that this would happen. That the others would get stronger, but he never said that they had never even known what their abilities were.'

Her head tilted slightly as Arthur suddenly spoke up and began to move everyone to another room so they could go back to being calm. Athena stepped a bit more to the side and watched as people began to follow, as if they were a heard being led off. Without asking another question, she walked among the group, keeping her comments to herself. She knew that if she opened her mouth again, she'd be greeted by some type of degrading sarcasm.

Her steps were slow as she fell to the back of the group, her eyes on the ground as many thoughts raced around her mind. It slightly felt as if she was being housed with teenagers instead of adults. Athena bit her lips as she became a bit worried with the way things were heading. Her head turned up as she realized that they were filing into a room, in which Cassius was shouting. The woman flinched at the sound of pain in his voice, making her feel a sense of purpose as she glanced around the room for the light switch. The others seemed to be either more preoccupied with themselves or Cass's shouts that they didn't move quick enough. Athena had quickly walked over to the opposite side of the room and hit the switch to turn all of the lights. She hoped that it would offer some type of relief to whatever pain he was experiencing, although it didn't seem as if it would've been as easy as turning off some lights.

Instead of voicing her concerns, once more, Athena had turned to look towards the door before making her mind up and leaving the room. Too many emotions were running wild, and the last thing she needed was to activate her useless abilities. She had caused too much grief to others by "bewitching" them and it was something that she did not want to see in any other eyes.

Although Jade had tried to get a move on before the others, so she could get some time to gather her thoughts and fix her mood, she had once again found herself being taken against her will by Lauren. Although she always acted mad, huffing and puffing as she'd get tugged along, Jade could never keep a straight face with them. A laugh here and there would escape her lips which would through off her whole charade. Yet, now she had found herself right behind her two friends, looking back and forth at the back of their heads. They had been acting strange ever since they had made the hike up the mountain, which made Jade feel a bit uncomfortable. Something was either going on, or something was wrong, either way they were keeping it from her. A tiny bit of jealousy and anger arose inside the small girl which caused her to look down at her feet as she trudged along behind her.

As she let the feeling dissolve into nothing, Jade suddenly found herself being hit from the back, causing her to yell out in a bit of pain and surprise. Before she knew it, the girl was face first into some snow, and under something much heavier than her. A strong feeling of claustrophobia took over her as she tried to move and couldn't. The young girl quickly began flailing around in frustration and desperation, wiggling herself around and getting to a position where she was on her back to the snow, allowing her to breathe with ease. "God damn it, get off of me!" Jade practically growled at Connor as she realized that the young man was not doing much to get off. Although he was several pounds heavier than her, it didn't stop Jade from getting in some movements, twisting her hips and bucking him off of her.

A slightly out of breath Jade stood up and patted herself down to get excess snow off of herself, her face as red as a tomato. "Connor what in the world has possessed you?!" The girl's green eyes looked over to the young man as she slightly glared at him. After a second of him not really moving, she walked over and grabbed his arm, yanking him upwards to help him stand up. She could smell the lingering scent of last night's alcohol on him, which made her realize what his problem was. "You're going to have one hell of a hike down, y'know?"

Once again, Athena had found herself fluttering her eyes open to see the pristine white ceiling. A groan escaped her lips as she reached up to a slow throbbing in her head. All she could remember was that a young man had come up to her, asking if she was okay, and then everything had became distorted, and quickly everything went black. 'I must have fallen on my face..'

"Miss Wilson! You're awake, finally!" The deep voice of Athena's trainer filled the room, unexpectedly. The young woman quickly tried to sit up but was greeted with a wave of nausea. "Please, Miss Wilson, take your time. We should have known that this would happen. Before you woke up, earlier today, we had drawn a decent amount of blood from you. My apologies. I should have made sure prior to fetching you." Athena glared at her trainer as she lay motionless. "Well, I'm alive. I'll be fine." Her voice was weak but she still managed to spit out some sarcasm. Taking a few deep breaths, she slowly got up from the small hospital like bed that she was on. The spinning wasn't as bad, which was a good sign. A few deep breaths more and everything seemed to be okay. "I think I'm fine now. I'm sure all I need is some food in me and maybe some sleep, on my own accord." She spoke to her trainer, fairly confident for someone who had just passed out. "Well if you think so, I say go for it. We will continue the physical aspect of the research another day when you're at one hundred percent."

Athena nodded at her trainer, and offered him a small, genuine smile. He returned the smile and escorted her out of the small room that they were in. He nodded in acknowledgement to her before closing the door and leaving her to go on her own. The face of the young man that had tried to help her appeared in her mind. She had to thank him for trying to help, since it was none of his concern really.

The brunette made her way down the hall, her eyes checking every room as she passed by them. She finally came to a corner and began to hear the commotion of the others. With a newfound purpose, Athena began to walk towards the noise. Had others been told something that made them upset? Had someone been hurt? The questions raced in her head as she made herself worry.

Upon getting to the door of the room where the majority of the people were in, Athena's eyes slightly widened as she tried to understand what the hell was going on. No matter which way she looked at it though, she still couldn't understand.

"Guys, I made him numb!"

"What?" Athena mouthed to herself as she looked at Bailey, and then at the other person. 'Another new face?' There was absolutely too much to understand. Did they really all have these so called abilities, and they were now experiencing them for the first time? They all needed to calm down a bit and get an understanding at what was happening. There was no way that they all had these abilities. Right?

"Do... Do you all have something different?" Athena asked out loud, still looking at Bailey and his hand.
Jade Stone | Slippery Slope Down

The night had become a blur after having her private talk with Sano. Jade had shared some things with the young man that she could've kept to herself in order to not cause any drama. Really, she could've kept it all to herself. There was no need to share private details, yet she still did it, and even Sano happened to tell her more of himself than he should have. It made Jade wonder why. Why she would even care enough to talk about herself. This made the girl lay in her bed, her back to everyone, as she stared at the wall. Her eyes might have been staring at the wooden wall, but her mind had flashed back to her asking Sano to go with her to the bonfire. She recalled him accepting, only to see if there were any important details being shared amongst the cadets, before getting up and walking with her outside. It caused two confused, yet mischievous looks from from Mora and Lauren, and one huge grin on Olivia's face, but Jade was able to ignore the three as she and Sano walked up to the group. As they neared, a veteran that Jade had never sen before approached them with a couple of mugs, to which Jade refused. Unfortunately for everyone, the veteran was already a bit past the line of no return in regards to drinking alcohol, and he only pressed further for Jade to take the cup. "What's wrong with you?! Don't you know how to have a little fun? Everyone else is doing it!" Jade's eyes had widened at the man's words, and she turned to look at everyone with tankards in their hands, full of whatever liquid it had in it. Something inside of the young girl was triggered and she turned to the man, her eyes shooting a million and one daggers at him. She had quickly grabbed the cup and chucked it far away from the group, into a cliff's abyss. "No means fucking no. Only the weak need to drink this." Her words had been spat out with venom, and she could see that the man had become both angered and ashamed. With a quick look around the fire at the others, Jade had stormed off into the cabin where she now found herself waking up.

Her cheeks turned a bring red as she remembered the embarrassing encounter. She, in no way, wanted to make a scene. A long sigh escaped her as she pushed last night's events away. As she began to hear shuffling amongst the cabins, Jade followed along and got up, getting ready for their trek down.

Although it never took Jade more than three minutes to get ready, that morning it seemed to have taken her thirty. She was clearly in her own state of mind and had been slow and sluggish in her movements. What exactly was going on with her, she didn't know. Before stepping out into the outdoors, Jade quickly pulled up her hair into a ponytail. Walking out, it was strangely warm, compared to the day before. She didn't like the feeling of it. The sun was beating down but the temperature was still cold enough to have them using the winter gear, but that only made her a bit sweaty. It just didn't feel right to her.

Jade's green eyes scanned the open area in front of their cabins and spotted all those whom were ready to go. Lauren and Mora were together, as always, which caused Jade to frown just a bit. They hadn't tried to wake her up? She couldn't really blame them though, it wasn't their job in any way. Instead of joining them, Jade decided to begin moving towards the way they had arrived to the cabins. Snow had clearly melted just enough for the tops of some rocks to peek through the white. It made the small girl a bit nervous. She knew how clumsy she could be, and knowing her, she'd most likely find herself tripping and rolling down the mountain. Still, she moved on, testing out how deep the snow was this time around and making sure that her boots were strapped tight enough to not fail her on the hike.

"Schulz must have gotten stuck or something. It is kinda weird that he hasn't gotten here yet," Jade was quick to respond to Sano's concern. She had a thought about Schulz earlier as well but she hadn't spent much time worrying because she thought that he would come by nightfall. Unfortunately that was not the case. Throughout the two's conversation, the sun had begun it's descent into the mountains which left them with nothing but the light of the fire outside of the cabins, and the flames lit inside of the cabin that they were in. She had been a bit more aware since he had mentioned that he felt something, but all she felt was her legs ache in soreness. Or was it that she wanted to believe it wasn't anything other than that?

Jade yawned a bit and looked down at the tankard in her hands. She was nearly done with the tea, but by now it had gotten cold and she didn't want to drink cold tea. It never tasted good in her opinion. Instead, Jade got up and took it to a table, setting it down and walking back towards where she once sat next to Sano. She smiled at him when he mentioned her practically lying about the cold stopping her, "Well, to be honest, I didn't want to be around them while the mayhem happened. They're all nice and what not but I didn't want to have fun. It sounds weird, and maybe a bit cruel, but I don't really want to get attached to anyone. It's so hard too." The girl's smile quickly turned into a frown as she spoke the truth that she tried so hard to keep locked away. She turned to look outside of the window and noticed the cadets and veterans all getting together around a large bonfire. Mora had barely been joining, stepping out of the girls cabin, while she got a glimpse of someone through the window. "Mora and Lauren are my friends, but it was never by choice, really. I do care for them but I needed them for survival. They're older than me and only kept me around because they felt bad. Besides them, it's hard to think why I would actually want to play with these other kids... If that makes sense." Jade turned back to Sano and quickly tried to push the depressing atmosphere away. "I'm also a bit like you in a way. I never want to be caught off guard either." Jade laughed a bit, in her hopes of keeping their conversation light. She had never held such a long conversation with Sano, much less alone with him. She was finally getting to know the young man for who he really was without people around to make him act a certain way.

"You know, people are gathering around the fire. Wanna go out there with me and see what they're meeting out in the dark for? It's either that or I'll go to sleep." Jade smiled at the young man and beckoned him towards her so they could go outside and join the others. She truly was curious, but had no desire to really mingle. If Sano was with her, she knew that the others wouldn't really keep up much of a conversation versus if she was alone.

Athena had found herself suddenly surprised by the young man's question. "Superpowers?" She had let her facade break as she reached to shake his hand and tried to wonder why on earth anyone would ever call her type of disorder a 'superpower'. "No, I don't think I have a superpower. I have a disorder which can be cured. They said that it can." The young brunette quickly caught herself as she began explaining her reasons of being in the facility. "It's nice to meet you, Cassius.... Hope you don't mind me giving you a nickname." She let go of him and went back to folding her hands just under her chest. "I think Cass will do. Your name sounds intimidating, for some reason. You don't look to intimidating." Athena smirked a bit before winking at the young man, then turning her attention to the others that made their way inside, followed by the staff members.

As the young woman watched with an intensity that only she could understand, she realized that she would know continue her studies but while awake. 'They probably need this to happen so they can compare me to everyone else', she thought as she listened closely.

Once everything was said and done, Athena got up and off of her seat before her name was even called. She went straight to the man that had motioned for her. He was tall and lean, yet had a nice muscular tone to him. His skin was a caramel brown and his hair was in a neatly kept military cut and his eyes a hazel-green color that she just couldn't really identify. "Ms. Wilson, we'll just take some blood for now. Physical exam comes afterwards." His voice was deep enough to cause her to shake her head willingly and feel as if he had the utmost authority, even if he was just a trainer of some sort.

She had never been big on needles, so when it came down to her blood being drawn, her stomach twisted and turned and caused her tan skin to pale in the most unnatural way.

"Don't worry, we're done. Go hydrate and I'll see you in thirty minutes in the assigned room."

Athena once again nodded and sucked in a deep breath through her clenched teeth. She was in no state to get up and begin to walk as her vision was blurred out and the room around her kept spinning. Holding on to the walls, Athena was able to make herself out into the hallway and downward back towards where the auditorium. She was certain there would be more to their little meeting but she couldn't walk fast enough. With her hand steadily pushing against the wall, the woman kept a steady yet slow pace, all while working on her breathing to keep her from fainting.

Jade had been thoroughly surprised that Sano had not only acknowledged her, but was also responding to her and engaging in a thoughtful conversation. She would have gone in shock if it weren't for the fact that it was what he should have done from the moment they met. She was prepared for him to simply respond to her and shove her away like he always did. Yet, now he was motioning for her to sit next to him, which made Jade's cheeks turn slightly pink.

The teenager walked over and sat next to him, taking a sip of her tea as she listened to him speak his mind. 'He watched us?' The thought of Sano intently studying the cadets made Jade feel small and unprepared. How had she not seen him assessing them? She always had a keen sense of knowing when she was being looked at, yet during the hike she had ignored everything but herself and her instinct to survive the freezing hike. She had began to put her thoughts together about Sano. He was definitely mature beyond his age, and showed great promise to be a leader worth following, but he was just too mysterious for Jade to be able to trust him.

"I guess you could say I'm quiet because of choice too," she finally responded after mulling over his question. She knew it held more of a significant value, but was hesitant in whether she should allow the boy to know much about her. "I've got two loyal friends, and I love them very much, but I've had no choice. They helped me survive. I don't want to talk to anyone else because... because I don't want to get attached to anybody else and see them die right in front of my eyes." Her mind flashed back to the fateful day that changed her life which caused her bottom lip to pout a bit as her emotions got the better part of her. She cleared her throats before she looked back up at Sano and smiled a bit, quietly apologizing for being so serious with him before explaining her other reason to not speaking out in the hike, "I was also trying to focus on not letting the cold get to me. I would have had to been carried up here if i would've started to shake and shiver. I don't do well with the cold."

She quietly studied Sano's facial features as she conversed with him, watching closely when he smiled to see if it touched his eyes, which it did. He was genuine with his feelings and letting them show, which made Jade feel a bit more comfortable around him. "Why don't you go out there and join them? You deserve to let your mind take a break too, you know. Overthinking can be pretty dangerous."

Jade had been smiling at the Tanner as she did a corny magic trick, her eyes rolling as she went to smack his hands. That was when Lauren walked up and shoved a tankard into her hands, surprising the young girl and leaving her wide eyed. The warmth was very well welcomed in her hands as she held the tankard and soon began to sip whatever was inside. Her cheeks had turned pink from the warmth that now radiated inside of her.

"Thank you", she muttered towards Lauren before her attention was ripped away back to a now snow covered Tanner. Jade was more in shock than anything else at the fact that her comrades had slipped from their self disciple. Especially Gabriel, whom she had thought to be a more serious person. Jade quickly turned towards the sound of two more snowballs whooshing towards her, but hitting the two girls next to her, clearly thrown by Grant. She could tell that this was going to get really bad, really quick. With that in mind, Jade began to move away from the group that had just been pelted by snow and stood next to Emil. She had taken notice that the young man was busy paying attention at the sudden war ahead of them, which made her think of something. He was a very serious guy, even if they were friends, so she needed to do something to get him moving.

A mischievous smirk formed on Jade as she took a couple of steps back, behind Emil, and set her tankard down on a snow mound. She grabbed two fistfuls of snow and quickly shoved one fistful into the back of Emil's gear and shirt, and let another clump of snow fall the back of his loose pants. Maybe that would teach him to fasten his belt a bit more. Feeling satisfied with causing Emil a bit of an inconvenience Jade quickly grabbed her tankard and ran as fast as her feet could possibly move in the snow, up the steps of the main cabin and inside. The young girl smiled a bit before clearing her throat and settling down, taking a peek out of a window. While watching the group, she noticed someone else was near a window and turned to see Sano observing everyone else. Jade shook the snow out of her hair and walked over to him, breaking her vow of silence against him. "It's weird seeing everyone so happy. I'm not a fan of the snow or the cold. Is everything okay?"
