Hello there! You can call me Xanadu through originally on Old Guild I was known as Fa11ing Phoenix. I'm a University student that lives on the East Coast of North America studying History and Philosophy with aspirations of either becoming a History Professor or working in the Digital Humanities. I used to be really into forum based roleplaying when I was younger starting out on Neopets before moving to Max-Dan-Wiz and finally ending up on the Old Guild.

As I entered college though, I found it hard to find time to allocate time to writing posts when I have to write essays for grades and the like. Recently though, I've decided that for the sake of my own mental health that I have hobbies beyond work in an attempt to help keep myself sane. And thus I have returned with the expressed intent of continuing to do this weird collaborative writing experience that I love so much!

Indeed we are! I'm not a first come, first serve type. The interest check is just there to see if I'd get any traction at all! Anybody can submit an application as long as its before the deadline! If you get accepted though that's a whole 'nother story, but we will cross that bridge when we get there! ^_^
@Mara
Noted! Generally, I feel that everybody is a fan of such things. Though, I'm gonna probably hold off making one until after sheets are accepted. Because than you might have people that don't get accepted in the Discord and that gets awkward and me being aggressively Canadian, I don't really want to deal with such things because then I feel bad. Et cetera et cetera. lol

That being said for all the peoples! I would like your votes on yay or nay on the creation of a Discord, cause I'm a kind dictator that likes to know the consensus of his people. So you can tell me here in the OOC, or like sneak it into your CS. Whatever works for you!

Applications are now closed! Give the GM some time to look everything over and make a final decision.

Ayy, you cool cats. With our Guild issues hopefully resolved for at least a moment of time, I've managed to get things up and running! To give everybody enough time to work on sheets and stuff. And to allow me to work out some finer details. CSs themselves will not be due until next Sunday February the 11th at 12:00 AM EST. That gives you all a little over a week to work on something, which I feel should be enough but if you feel like you need more just bring it up and we will see if we can't work something out. Anyway here have a link!

Chapter 1

“你想要一杯茶嗎?”

Laine nodded her head pointing toward the display. Silently watching the calloused hands of the tea vendor lift a battered kettle. An antiquated oddity amongst the various brands of instant-machines. A styrofoam cup was placed on the counter steam drifted upward into the morning air. Encapsulated within her hand, the tactile sensors flared up her augment sending a facsimile of warmth to processed within the brain.

She made her way out through the alleyway that the vendor was tucked into, and crossed South Horizon Drive towards Aberdeen Harbor. The water hidden beyond the massive nest of rising towers each connected with rising glass bridges. The buildings rising every upward to meet growing populations demands. A large garbage truck lumbered along its interior already filled with the early morning run. A group of young woman dressed in identical business attire walked on, by talking amongst themselves in Cantonese. On their way no doubt to catch one of the early buses to the mainland to get to work.

The water’s edge came quickly passed the towers. A small strip of sand and loose gravel that quickly faded away into the blue-green of the harbor. Laine sat down on this small barrier looking out over the water towards Pok Liu Chau, and Korea itself somewhere beyond that; grey clouds hanging on the horizon heavy with promises of rain. Cupping her tea in both hands, she drank, the warm bitterness of the green tea filling her senses. It was the quiet probably that she appreciated most. The roar of the city melted away, leaving only the wind and the far off sounds of the men out on their sampans. The process having slowly transmuted into her morning ritual over the past five years.

“Guess this is the last time then” She mused to herself, her own voice jarringly loud amongst the silence. She crushed the now empty cup in her hand, the styrofoam folding inward easily against the pressure of the robotic joints into a small and misshapen ball. With an easy throw, she chucked the ball into the waters beyond watching it for a moment, bobbing up and down in the water; a flash of white against the blue-green.

She rose, brushing the sand off of her the black of her pants legs. Following the same path from before, she turned to the left as she hit the road. Following it as it curved away from the housing developments and the commercial sector, hugging the coast in a south easterly direction. Here the design of the towering buildings became less extravagant and more utilitarian in their design. Their hard right angles and concrete frames arising like a mesa from the ground. An old sign covered in rust still protruded along the shoulder of the road, the faded letters reading: Emergency Redistribution Housing.

Subconsciously, as she crossed the invisible boundary where one world had ended and other began, Laine had turned on. Submerging herself fully into the surroundings of the area, taking in every little sign of life and movement. The sidewalk was stained with vomit and the air tinged with smoke. The remnants of a cardboard bed lay propped against one of the buildings. Up the street, a stray cat plodded across the cracked asphalt, matted hair clinging to its slender frame. It stopped and looked at Laine, contemplating her for a moment then sprinting into a nearby alleyway.

She stopped in front of one of the buildings that stretch far into the sky. Paint above the door frame had chipped away leaving only two partially completed words: de ar mt sto e. The exterior was covered in a mixture of grim and graffiti advertising local gangs. Empty voids cut into the walls stood where windows may once have been. Its tall frame blocking out the morning sun and casting the exterior out front in shadow, intensifying the coolness in the air as the breeze began to crescendo with the approaching storm. From a backpocket she pulled out a crumpled blue-red box labeled Беломорканал. Pulling one of the cigarettes from the box, she fished around in her other pocket for a lighter.

Five minutes later, a off-white BYD van came down the street. Its box shape moving with a surprising level of grace as the electric engine quietly purred. Laine looked up, as she flicked the husk of her cigarette to the ground, grinding it into the sidewalk with a black boot heel. The van was unmarked, but she knew it as one of Loingsech's fleet of vehicles. It carried the rest of her team, ferrying them from the opulent five star extravagance that was the Kinmokusei Hotel. Laine didn't trust them enough to make their way alone. Trust was something you earned, and that process took much longer than the two days they had.

As the van came to a stop, her posture straightened as she pulled herself up to her full height. Crossing her arms she waited as the automatic doors slid open.

A detailed description of your character. How they look, what they normally dress in, and how they usually present themselves. Do they walk tall and wear nice suits? Or do they slouch and look like they have been sleeping in trash for the last week? You get the general idea. Along with this, you can optionally put a picture up at the top to help supplement this description.

B A C K G R O U N D
A detailed and accurate history and upbringing of your character from childhood to now. This is the most important part of your sheet; helping me determine your writing ability and dedication to wanting to be in this RP. In short if you give a two paragraph summation of John or Linda's entire life then don't expect to get very far here. This also helps you, because the more you write a nice detailed history for your character, the better you get to understand them as a person. This also helps, because it is the first true step of how our collaborative world building process works. As I've already mentioned there is a vague outline of the world right now. By telling your characters backgrounds, by adding in organizations and events that have happened across the world you all help flesh out and create a history for this world.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
For stuff that doesn't fit in the background field, such as hobbies, aspirations, quirks, interests, and so on. This is important, because it helps give me a feel for your character and give them a few more personal touches. Personalties though in general kind of shape and warp over time as you as writers find the voice of your character so don't pull too much hair out over this section.

S K I L L S
Generally why your character was hired by Loingsech. What are they good at? What do they specialize in? Specific jobs, skills, experience and stuff like that. Think of it almost like making a tiny cover letter for your character.

E Q U I P M E N T
Weapons, armour, and other important bits. They say you can tell a lot about a lady by what she has in her purse. This goes by the same principle. Don't feel like you only have to add the important fancy stuff, feel free to add things important to the character as well. Picture of somebody, lucky fuzzy dice, and things like that.

A U G M E N T A T I O N S
The fun part. What cool robot parts do they as characters, if any at all. Feel free to describe them in detail with appearance, their use, and general fluff. See the example below for what I'm looking for. Also to keep things simple and clean, I'm going to limit everybody at least at the start to at a max five augmentations.

To use code properly just copy and past it. Remember though to erase the # from the [#hr] lines so that it actually makes a line. Please post CSs to the OOC or PM to me for approval before you post them here.

the story so far.

C H A P T E R 1: A R A I N S O A K E D E V E N I N G

The Year is 2047, the place is the Guangdong Free Economic Zone (GFEZ) within the city of Hong Kong. Here on the island of Ap Lei Chau, in a skyscraper, on the 35th floor, lay a lab run by Loingsech Solutions. Within the confines of this space gray and sterile white interior there is a girl. Once, she may of had a name; today she is only referred to as 0826-9. For as long as she can remember all she has known is the lab. Today, as a spring swell draws in and the rains with it, that will change.

Not far from the lab, at the extravagant Kinmokusei Hotel are a group hired by Loingsech. An email having appeared in their inbox; a secure communication from a server in Dublin. That's how the big companies worked these days, you don't contact them, they find you. The contract promised a lucrative payout, half at acceptance, half at satisfactory completion. The job itself was simple - transport a girl from Hong Kong to Dublin, the only stipulation was to avoid air travel at all costs.

For those in the "biz", such an offer would've triggered half-a-dozen red flags. The old hands always warned that you never took a job with one of the big ones. You're too expendable, they keep too many secrets, things aren't ever what they seem. Sometimes though it doesn't matter: maybe your desperate for cash, maybe you want to test yourself, and maybe you have a death wish. Sometimes you just have to go along for the ride.

rules and regulations.

Follow all pre-established Guild rules.

For the love of all things holy don't be That Assholetm.

If you have any questions please ask them.

Don't be arguing with everybody and causing problems. And before you get up in arms, don't worry there is a difference between friendly discourse and discussion and being That Assholetm. I know the difference and so do you.

Your characters are people not superheros. Any blatant Mary & Gary Sues, cases of god-modding, et cetera, and I will have to drag you out back and tell you to think of the rabbits.

In the same idea, PC death is not out of the question per say, but highly unlikely. That being said, if you go into a firefight where there is one of you and fifty five of the other guys and you think your going to come out without a scratch please think again. Injuries are a thing cause they present interesting story choices.

To put expectations of posting frequency into the simplest terms possible. Post at least once week in the OOC to be like, "Hey Gurl I'm still alive." I can also set up a Discord for such purposes and the sharing of dank memes if that is something you would prefer. In terms of IC production, I would prefer if you were able to post the IC at least once a week, but to keep things realistic I'm going set the hard cap at once every two weeks. If you can't meet such demands for whatever reason illness, hard work week, or whatever please just tell me. Cause if you tell me and I know what's up, then I won't have to worry that you are going to vanish on us.

In terms of posting length and content. This RP is going to be following Advance standards. Though if you can't hit that level with every post don't sweat it, as long as I see your trying we gucci fam. I'm basically giving you enough rope to hang yourself with here, there is a difference between I tried my best and I wrote a single paragraph that adds nothing to the greater context of the story of the whole. I know the difference and you know the difference. Don't make me proud, make yourself proud.

Romance is not one of the core pillars of identity for this RP. That having been said it is still allowed, giant big old trip across thousands of miles feelings might flair and stuff. That's fine. But for you horn dogs out there please keep what I would call scenes not safe for the children to the PMs. Alright? Cool.

Cyberpunk as a genre is steeped in the veneer of Dystopia. Rectifier is no different and as a result has what some might describe as darker themes within its blood. I'm not aiming for grimdark here and there is still light in the world, but every light has to cast a shadow as they say. But what I'm asking is that y'll have the maturity to treat these themes with the respect that they deserve. And that is all I'm gonna say about that.

Last but not least. By submitting a character sheet to this RP, you are in a way, signing a strange mythological contract that states that you agree to follow these rules.

Hello folks!

A little update for you all. So most of the word part of the OOC has been finished, save for some final touches on the CS section. Most of that is on a google doc. I'm in the process of going through the final formatting phases, adding pictures, color coding, links, and stuff like that. But I have to do all that stuff Guild-side. Problem being as all of you know, is that the guild is well moving rather slowly at the moment. This has unavoidably and regrettably slowed me down a bit. So I regretfully have to change the time schedule slightly on you, to give you the best OOC I can. So expect the OOC to go live tomorrow 1/29/2018 sometime in the later hours EST, or if something else out of my control occurs the day after 1/30/2018 at the latest. In either case I'll tag you all with a post here when it's up and running anyway.
