A life of hard-riding and hard-living has left him with calluses, scars, bruises and other signs of wear enacted upon his body. A cropped beard of coarse, black hair clings to his cheeks and chin, matched with a head of equally coarse charcoal that's typically kept short with a razor and shears and rinsed through with water to stave off lice. CAPABILITIES ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ As a veteran of the free companies and the Kaimerian Uprising, Artur is a well-rounded soldier and a competent swordsman. He can loose arrows from a bow but has neither the skill nor the years of building draw-strength in his bones and muscles to standalongside a seasoned longbowman, so he's more inclined towards using crossbows if and when the requirement arises but even then, he's no marksman. He's a pragmatic fighter, though not as young as he once was. Dakoran by blood and birth, he can swim and sail (or row) better than the average mainlander and, when the need arises, he's a shrewd field commander with an understanding of the logistical requirements to sustain an army in the field. He's no stranger to life at the saddle, sleeping in tents and under the stars, or foraging for food. Though no scholar, he is literate. Artur is still recovering from a more recent injury. Whilst he isn't old yet, his youth is certainly on its way behind him and it shows at such times. EQUIPMENT ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ When armoured, Artur usually wears a mish-mash of scavenged apparel usually consisting of boiled leather and chain-mail, with gauntlets, greaves and a half-helm to protect his arms, legs and head. There's also a moss-coloured cloak to keep the worst of the elements off his back and a pair of leather boots that reach most of the way up to the knees. On a swordbelt he carries a one-handed steel sword with an ornate pommel carved from granite, which likely once had the likeness of a snarling beast's head but has since become too worn to discern what beast that may have been and any jewel inserts have been lost or pried off for coin. It's good steel, though looks to have seen better days. Also carried on his person is a dagger and a hunting blade, both sheathed. A wineskin, whetstone and oil cloth are also among his possession.

Artur is a hard-nosed man, shaped by the experiences dealt upon him in life. Exile, war and betrayal - that and more have left him with a certain determination to seek out his true ambition, even if that means getting his hands bloody and cutting through anyone and anything that stands in his way. That said, he's far from cold - an early life among pirates and mercenaries has given him a somewhat flexible view of the world, leaving him far less prejudiced (and certainly rough around the edges) than his claim to nobility would suggest, open to working with anyone who will further his gains regardless of their station - and he can respect others who share a similarly self-reliant philosophy.

As a necessity, he can be sociable - even glib, though keeping an even disposition. Yet, although Artur is not particularly inclined towards cruelty for its own sake, he is a man who burns with a cold fury when sufficiently provoked - enough to spark a streak of wroth and cruelty towards those he perceives to have wronged him, and he's one with a habit for trying to assert control of a situation rather than leaving himself in someone else's hands. Maybe it's pride - the idea of being self-reliant being better than the alternative. Whether it's good to forever be this stubborn - or headstrong, is another matter ultimately, he's a man as any other - perhaps with a man's appetites, why else would he have fathered a bastard of his own? He's just that little bit wise enough to keep them in check.

Artur was born halfway into nobility, one of the greater lineages of the remaining world, though his father was a weak man. Events conspired against him and, still a boy, he was forced into exile by the murderous daggers of court intrigue where he learned things that a sheltered life amongst nobility would've precluded. Forced to make his own way or starve, Artur lived among pirates and the free companies of the Shattered Isles, steadily carving out a life for himself - but he never forgot his roots, nor did he relinquish any hope of reclaiming what he believed was his by birthright.

Travelling across both the archipelago and the mainland, Artur established a name for himself among the mercenary companies, steadily rising to become a captain in his own right with experience both in the field of battle and administrating an army as the Kaimerian Uprising raged on and the various city-states sought protection from the encroaching threat. He fathered a bastard of his own, though unlike his own forebears he did not abandon the boy - instead bringing him along for seasoning, to see the world and to one day take the place his father intended, for he was a man of ambition and would not be contented with life as a captain forever.

Artur pooled coin, spoke with other captains and, eventually, struck out to form a free company of his own, dubbing them the Bastardborn - a nod to the status which he openly wore as a title. For a time, they prospered and his true goal seemed more achievable than it had ever been before, year by year. Yet again, however, events conspired against him; a contract gone poorly and several greedy opportunists among the ranks led to a betrayal from the men among the ranks. Wounded and left for dead on the shores of New Kaimeria, he was left in the hands of a passing raiding boat who thought to take him as a captive as it moved westwards.

Luckily for Artur, he knew the Isles well enough to recognise an opportunity to escape - diving overboard and swimming for the shore. A few hard months saw him travel downriver towards Exusia, a journey in which he was able to strip whatever he could from the bodies of unfortunate travellers, enough to make his own way - for his ambitious habits stirred. First, he would reclaim the Bastardborn - with interest. To do this, he would need coin and support from the right powers. He would have his swords and spears. Then, a crown.

This idea can work but I should warn you that if you are playing in the Sol System, you will be under the thumb of the Confederate Guard and you won't have like any autonomy to do anything unless you want an orbital bombardment. You're basically cut off from everyone else besides NPCs.

Also just as a reminder that the Sol system has been pretty thoroughly developed and colonized. The "newest" colonies are all in the western regions.

I meant that the Euro-Persian interests were originally situated on Mars and the Jovian system but fuelled the terraforming and colonisation of another world. I was more inclined to query whether they'd have any loose ties to their old holdings in the home system.

Got an idea I'm considering recycling involving Euro-Persian interests and billionaire entrepreneur types from Mars and Jupiter founding a colony, hence why I was asking. Original concept had those holdings still in place on the Jovian moons.
