Work in progress...

Change is one of the hardest things to deal with. It can sometimes be bad. Sometimes, it can be a good thing. For the Tree family, only time will tell.

As they arrive to their new home in Woodstock, Vermont - they must reflect on the changes that must take place. They must leave their ultra glamorous lifestyle back in Los Angeles, California and adjust to the less glamorous, but still possibly fulfilling, life in Woodstock. Their family owned buisiness is gone. It's time to start a new chapter in their lives.

Due to economic hardship, the family owned business stopped making a profit and had to be sold. Their family friend was able to provide an opening in his own company with great pay - though not what they were making before. They have a downsized house now, but still grande in the eyes of most and everyone still has their own room. It just no longer is a huge Beverly Hills mansion.
Rules

  • Posts must be at least 2 paragraphs in length.
  • Post at least 2 times a week.
  • Do not control someone else's character without their permission.
  • Character actions must have appropriate consequences. For example; when talking back to teachers or bullying another student or doing something illegal.
  • Let me know before your character does something that could affect the entire family, like burning down the house - whether on purpose or by accident.
  • No character is perfect and they must be a complicated and flawed human being.
  • Character actions, for the most part, must follow logic and must be true to their character. If your character burns down the house on purpose or by accident, events must have happened to lead them to do this action. We should be able to look back and say, "oh yeah I see how it led the character to this."
  • Please keep it at a PG-13 rating with no nudity.
  • Keep profanity to a minimum and don't overdo it.

Character Roles

You can be a parent, a sibling, or an extended family member. An extended family member can be an uncle, a cousin, or can even be a very good family friend that is almost like an uncle or a sibling.

The parental, aunt, and uncle roles are limited, but we can have up to 7 siblings.

Sibling - David Tree - @Apollo
Sibling - Stephanie "Steph" Tree - @GoddessSophia

The Character Sheet

Siblings can be from 14-25 and may also be twins or even triplets.

The character sheet serves multiple purposes, it informs me of who your character is and provides me with an idea of how you will play your character. It also provides a frame of reference for yourself and everyone else when interacting with your character. It also serves the very distinct purpose of allowing the other family members to have formed an opinion about your character. Yes, mystery is good and your character will of course develop, change, and grow, but remember that these siblings and parents all have known eachother for a very long time and will have already formed opinions about the other characters. Certain mysteries are possible, like sexual orientation, mental struggles, but for the most part your personality and behavior are things that will not be big mysteries. We need to know what our character will think of your character as this is an RP about a family.

Personality: is self explanatory, it is the general template by which your character operates. It informs their decisions and who they hang out with. It dictates how they approach people and life in general.

Behavior: goes into the minutia of day to day. How the character acts towards people. Does he lash out at his parents often. Does he do a lot of pranks? Does he get into fights a lot? Does he mistreat his siblings? Does he ignore authority? When his parents give a curfew, does he follow it or not. When you think about one of your family members, you think of their personality, but you can also think about the things they have done and how they act in front of people, that is their behavior.

Type: admittedly isn't as self explanatory as personality, which is why I tried to provide some examples. Is your character the adventurous type? Are they the loyal type? It's somewhat like describing characteristics, but it's not so much about traits so much as succinct terms that show how they move through life. Someone who is adventurous might like rock climbing, or solving mysteries. Someone who is loyal will defend their siblings, or their friends. It very importantly also provides the other players with an idea abotu your character and how our characters will interact with them.

Explanation of Type: is somewhat a replacement for history. You say your character is adventurous, now give examples or an explanation of how they are adventurous. My character likes to go rock climbing on the weekends. They love visiting new places. My character is rebellious - but not all rebels are the same. My character rebels against the idea of school. They don't shun authority exactly, but they don't think that school should be required. This helps us understand your character better and provides us with some ideas about whether our characters like to hang with yours and so on.

Likes: What does your character like? Music? Comedy? Travel?
Dislikes: What doesn't your character like?

Aspirations: What your character will be working towards in the long run. A life goal or a desire.

School Performance: This is important for the parents and for family members, again, to form an opinion. In some cases, like if your character is in college, this can say something like, "Chooses not to disclose this information to their family." But in high school, this option is obviously not available. School is an important aspect of being young. And again, it helps our characters be more informed about your character.

Plans: This describes what your character wants to do with their life in general. Their plans for the year, short term. How they plan to get to their goal, or how they will make the most of the move to the new place. Or maybe they plan to improve their grades or relationship with their siblings or parents. It also gives me an idea as to what you want out of this RP.

Remember that this is a family RP. They all know each other. We need to be able to have a very good foundation of who we are are and who our family is.

If anyone wants to play a twin or a triplet to my character, let me know!
Hey guys, the OOC didn't go up as planned yesterday because I had some last minute school things but I'll get it up today and then post it here.

Ok, I'll go ahead and post an OOC by tomorrow. Let's see how far we can take this experiment haha.
Ok, I think a good plot would be to have the family move into a new home in a new state and have them deal with changes. Having to go to a new school, new job, make new friends etc. it could even be a new country.
That was intense! Haha
Ok. I'm okay with axing the powers aspect.

@Ivanka great! I'll be happy to hear any ideas you have!

I have some plot ideas that I'm going to try and make coherent and then I'll post it here to see what you guys think.
Creepy good uncle like scary?

And would everyone prefer it with no powers?
Yeah, I'm not sure if something like this could work. But I figured it was worth a try to gauge interest haha.
Hello! I have an idea for a type of slice of life RP, but not sure how interested people might be in this kind of an RP.

The RP would be about a family. Where we play siblings, the parents, and extended family or even friends. They could be in high school or own a business and things like that.

The family members could also have powers, though not all have to some might have been born without powers.

Please let me know if you're interested or have any ideas to add!
