Aaron sat at the desk, staring blankly out the window. It was almost dark. And it was going to stay that way for a whole month. He didn't mind the dark since he rarely got to go outside anyway. The only thing he detested about it was the extra shifts. Certain residents in the building liked to venture out, and it was Aaron's job to stop that.

Almost nodding off, the announcement, played through the speaker that was fixed to the wall in the corner of his room, brought him back to reality. Informing him of the banquet that was to be held on the fourteenth floor, Aaron contemplated whether or not he should attend. Realising he was one of the few police officers in the building, he decided his attendance was pretty much mandatory.

Already dressed in his uniform, Aaron retrieved his service pistol from the drawer in his desk and ensured it had a full clip of ammunition and a round already loaded in the chamber. He slid an extra magazine into his duty belt, just to be safe. Some residents were likely to get more drunk than others, and Aaron enjoyed acting the higher power in those situations.

Assuming he would need to be briefed on the evening's events upon arrival, Aaron sauntered up the stair case, alone. He wasn't fond of crowds, and hung back to let the initial rush of people go by. He was fairly relaxed tonight. Nothing really went wrong in the building, aside from the occasional drunk, which he would probably have to deal with as he arrived at the fourteenth floor meeting room.
Shinji Haraguchi, Corridors

Shinji sighed as his cowardice took him over, and he found himself hiding in a janitor's closet. He wasn't sure if he was seen as he scrambled into his makeshift safe haven, so he sat against the door, hoping he would function as some kind of barricade just in case "They" tried to pry their way in. Outside, he could hear the screaming of students and teachers as they battled fruitlessly against the unrelenting hordes of undead, and the low moans and groans of "Them", as they did their hardest to force the living to become their meals. Shinji silently scolded himself for being too quick to run away, but told himself it was why he was still alive.

After around five minutes, he decided on taking a look outside to see if the coast was clear. Realising the horrifying sounds had died off minutes ago, Shinji inched the door open, biting his tongue every time it squeaked, expecting the entire school to come after him. Peeking into the corridors, he saw they were coated with blood. It was on the floor, the walls and some had even made it onto the ceiling. Shinji even saw a few fingers littered on the ground. He raised a hand to his mouth, to stop himself from vomiting. It was like something out of a nightmare. Shinji tried his hardest to wake himself up, but it was to no avail.

Forcing himself into the empty corridor, Shinji stepped over each puddle of blood, trying to not slip over. It was fairly quiet. The occasional groan caused Shinji to stop and look over his shoulder, expecting his doom to be right behind him. Looking out the window into the courtyard below, he saw that the mass of undead had increased. It seemed they came in through the school's main gate and the population of the academy just added to their ranks. If there were that many in the grounds, who knew how many were lurking in the building? Shinji shook the thought out his each and rounded a corner.

Somebody was on the floor. Bleeding profusely from a wound on his hand. The student was clutching at it, willing it to stop, but no success. Shinji made his way over and was about to ask if he was OK, when the boy, who was about the same age as Shinji, just stopped moving. His pale skin stood in contrast with the pool of blood around him, and his hand didn't stop. As Shinji stood a few meters from the body, it began twitching once more. Shinji was still in shock, as he hadn't watched somebody bleed out before. He'd seen his teacher go berserk, but he didn't stay behind to watch. The boy slowly got up, stumbling as he did so. He faced away from Shinji.

"Are you OK?" Shinji called out, not realising the grave error he just made.

The boy turned. His eyes were paler than his skin. Shinji backed away, avoiding the blood puddles. The boy lunged, screeching as he did so. Shinji yelped, turned on his heel and took off. He couldn't go to fast, for he would slip on blood and become easy prey. Peering back down the corridor, he saw the boy was pursuing him, not caring for his own well-being. Only wanting to get his next meal. He was no longer human. He was just another member of the undead ranks who's only goal was to infect every last living person, Shinji included. Hearing the groans of other infected beings, Shinji ran off to the nearest staircase, which led up to the second floor of the school.

Highschool of the Dead: Trapped

It was a normal day at Fujimi Academy. Students were in their lessons, teachers were passing on their knowledge. Others were skipping, and hiding in one of the schools many side paths, toilets or in other places that teachers wouldn't find them, hopefully. Outside, however, something much more sinister was taking place. A deadly virus was sweeping through the population, turning them into flesh-eating monsters who preyed on the living. Eventually, the hordes of undead made their way to the school, and into the grounds, devouring anybody foolish enough to get in their way. Since nobody had any idea of what was going to happen, nobody was prepared, and the entire school, faculty included, went into meltdown. Students pushed, stamped, shoved and kicked each other out the way to get to the exits, only to be met by hungry zombies. Soon enough, only a handful of people remained, heavily outnumbered, with no way to escape...

You are one of these survivors. Surrounded by hundreds, if not thousands, of the undead. You must choose between life and death, giving up or fighting on. Will you find a way out or hand yourself over to the ravenous hordes?

Shinji Haraguchi, Corridors

How could this be? It was completely normal ten minutes ago. Nobody was trying to kill each ther. Shinji was sat at the back of his class, furiously taking down notes one moment, and the next his teacher was feasting on those at the front. The ensuing crush to exit the room wasn't helpful either. Shinji was lucky enough to be one of the first out, and ran off as the "They" spotted the students trying to evacuate.

Screaming and shouting soon filled the corridors. Left and right, hapless students were fending off those they once called friends. Others were furiously scrabbling to find an exit, but all they got was the claws of "Them" waiting for their next meal, and were promptly dragged off and never seen again, presumably becoming a human meal.

Shinji looked out the window, hoping to find the police, or the army, just someone who could help. But all he saw were masses of "Them" congregating in the grounds. He grimaced, realising that no help was coming any time soon. So he continued on his path, avoiding "Them" and trying to find a teacher, or anyone who could tell him what the hell was going on.
