The lord of a city in the clouds has died. He was the last in his line and so the battle between the families begins to see who shall claim the throne. (Game of Thrones inspired) Mafia, romances, brawls, alliances and agreements all come into play.
Since we do live in the clouds your character has wings. Wings of a dragon-fly which connect at the shoulder, or membranes under their arms: 
The city is shaped like a star, with five wings. North, South, East, West forming the lower points. Then the Upper level. The upper level is known as "Gentry." The lower is known as "Philistine"
Each of the wings is controlled by a family, therefore there are five families of note. (If you need a better visualisation think of the way Berlin was divided - which I will expand on)
**The North Wing** (in Philistine)
The North Wing is controlled by family Cadoc
Sigil: The sword of Rhodri
The Cadoc family has a military seat in the council and controls the majority of fighters/warriors throughout the city.
**The South Wing** (also Phili.)
In control: family Myron
Sigil: The star flower, a purple flower that blooms in the city during summer
The Myron family is reknown for their artistic people: sculptors, painters, craftsmen, dancers and musicians. This wing is the hub of life and merriment all through the day and night. The High Church is based in this wing.
**The East Wing** (Phili.)
Family: Cato
Sigil: a dragonfly
The Cato family has some of the greatest minds this city has seen, all astronomers, physicians, philosophers and any other scientist of note resides in this wing and branches into all other wings to conduct their work.
**The West Wing** (Phili.)
Family: Anan
Sigil: a sparrow
Anan is the blue collar force of the city. Their workers support all wings as labourers, servants and all other smaller, menial jobs. More numerous than the other houses but more lacking in code and skill.
**Gentry**
Family: Regis
Sigil: A circlet of silver
The Gentry houses the elite of the city, thus housing the lord of the city. Currently the Regis family resides within it's walls. Not known for much else other than caring for the people of the city and handling politics and political conflicts.
