If there's one thing I know, never, ever give up.

And never stop writing. If you feel like you're a terrible writer, remember this: authors far worse than you have not just been published, but became best sellers that we're all too familiar with. You're not the worst, and even then you still have a chance.
Written late at night, so forgive me for any spelling mistakes found within. Just tell me what I need fixed, and I'll rewrite.

Name: 'Shifty' Silvio DiMarco

Gender: Male.
Age: 41

Shifter Appearance: http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/141/5/c/shadow_creatures___open___by_pointadoptsforyou-d50n1io.png
While others became Gods and Faeries, Shifty got the other end of the stick. He ended up as a 'Boogeyman', capable of transforming into what some would call mockeries of living creatures. The first of his forms resembles a strangely Equine Lizard, the second a cruel mockery of a deer, and the third resembles a deep sea creature for aqautic enviroments. The eyes do appear to glow at times, which can appear to be utterly horrifying in the dark.

The mouthes are more akin to Maws filled with razor sharp teeth, capable of tearing human flesh into mince meat, and the tongues are a strange purplish color. Making the creepyness even worse.

Appearance: http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2012/366/0/4/mafia_boss_by_etopcu-d5pwg2a.jpg
A rather plain, olive skinned gentlemen, with brown eyes and short dark hair. He wears a suit, well, a modern one. He just had a portrait of himself done with himself wearing something straight out of Goodfellas. Some would say out of respect for the old Gangsters, others say he's just playing up the stereotypical Mafiosi look just for PR. Normally the guy wears normal clothes just like you or me, he just happened to get warped wearing one of his best suits. He's currently carrying a loaded pistol with a clip that currently contains seven bullets, and a duffelbag filled with money.

And no, the Fedora was for show. There's no way in hell he'd be caught dead wearing one of those things.

Abilities:
He can shoot a gun, beat a gang in a brawl, bust a mans leg, or work out a sweet deal. His poor upbringing and his criminal 'Education' for lack of a better word has taught him many things. If you're desperate, he could probably dig up some shrooms just so you can shut up about you addiction. He's also capable of beating most people in a fist fight, although his age is starting to catch up to 'im. (not that he'd ever admit it)

Powers:
Other than turning into clones of three animal species, he is also capable of sinking into the ground, appearing to be a puddle of black sludge that nauseates those who look too long, and yes, he can still move in this form. It should be mentioned that he'll probably learn how to transform into other things with time, but luckily he doesn't know how to yet. He can also transform into shapes resembling furniture and other physical objects, although it's not a terribly useful ability in daylight.

You see; not only will people generally find a creepy black chair to be strange, but his own abilities won't work in direct daylight. He literally can't use them until nightfall; which is a enormous disadvantage. And not just that; his powers are not even terribly useful for combat. He's much weaker than the average shifter, and often finds himself usually running away from say, that one guy who just transformed into a very angry Djiin. That being said; he can sneak into areas without being noticed, and can easily take down a normie in a fist fight.

Background:
Shifty was raised in a lower income family in New Jersey. He had three siblings, and a mother raising them alone who didn't do terribly well. She was often drinking, smoked like a fiend, and one could call her mentally abusive. Shifty grew up in a environment where he could only rely on himself, and as he grew up, he rather expectedly fell into the wrong crowd. His teenage years saw him joining a local gang of punks that terrorized the local neighborhood, introducing DiMarco to the criminal underworld. His education was never much of one to begin with, and in the end, he wound up dropping out, becoming a full time punk and his gang became more than just another group of hoodlums.

This led him into the world of the drug trade, which his local gang got involved in, producing crystal meth that was sold to the local junkies and some of the more gullible kids. If nothing else, DiMarco learned to never touch this particular drug. Well, for recreational purposes anything, economically it was quite profitable. They often warred with the rival gangs for power, beating almost every single one except for a run in with the Junior Black Mafia. He loved this life; a life of Grunge music, light heartening violence, and money. Lots and lots of money.

But eventually it happened. He grew up, turning 18, the younger kids started looking at him differently. He noticed this, and knew it was only a matter of time before he would lose his respected position and decided to leave. Moving to New York, and getting involved with a crew that dealt in trafficking guns, drugs, and even people through a old contact. While it wasn't quite as fun as his time in New Jersey, he did manage to avoid the implosion of his gang as the leader wound up warring for control with this up and coming successor.

It was a decent gig for a new years, but as the nineties drew to a close, he started to catch the eye of the old remnants of the Mafia who came to him with a offer. They wanted him to become some muscle, and while the Mafia wasn't as strong as it used to be, Shifty knew he couldn't refuse them. And so, in 2000, a few days after New Years Eve, he took his first job in which he shook down a local barber shop. It was easy, and soon he began getting deeper and deeper into the Underworld. But then in 2013, when DiMarco and his 'friends' while escorting a representative of the Russian Mafia, Mrs. DiMarco passed away from lung cancer.

When Shifty became aware of this, he was taken aback. He didn't know what to think, he was never close to his mother, having essentially disappeared from home during his teens, or his siblings that he forgot about long ago. Ultimately, he just felt indifferent but did indeed wonder if he could move up the ranks. But he had a good gig going, with a nice house out in New England, plenty of money, and a trophy wife from the Ukraine who probably didn't even know his name. (or spoke English for that matter) He was content, up until he became a shifter in 2018.

At first he was amazed by his newfound abilities, but then he started using him to expand his illict business. These powers helped him greatly, as his mob started muscling into territory controlled by his rivals. Like many things the Shifters enhanced, organized crime greatly benefited from their presence. But then, one morning after a successful deal he awoke in a forest.

Personality:
He is not kind. At all. Well, maybe he is to the Family. But not to complete strangers, and especially not ones that could tear him apart at any second. He's quite amoral, willing to do many terrible things to obtain a profit, and is primarily interested in his (and his loved ones) own survival. If he had a family member or a close friend with him, then he'd make damn sure the two of them got out alive. He does hold a particular respect for the Gangsters with a 'code.' He sure as hell doesn't get them, but something about holding onto higher ideals in his line of work impresses him.

He also holds a particular distrust of some of the Shifters that he can't really explain; particularly towards Angels, and other creatures that embody light. Interestingly enough that extends to the Sidhe/Yokai types as well; he REALLY doesn't like them.

Other:
A young son that he actually likes, and a older son that he thinks is a idiot. But, he's family. His wife still can't speak english, interestingly enough. He doesen't talk about his siblings, either for their sake or he simply can't remember them.
So, what's the deal with mythological deities? I don't mean the almighty gods themselves, but are avatars a possible option?
Lel, Maud. She holds a RHD in Rockology at the university of Bedrock.

Indeed, and then there's the diversity. Some Sidhe are horrifying; more akin to something out of a classic weird tale by Lovecraft, or one of the more terrifying things in Hellenic Mythology. Others, are just so downright weird they're difficult to describe without getting a headache.

Out of curiosity, when you say 'Ive seen some shit' are you referring to that one incident in In Nomine? You know who I'm talking about. ;)

For the love of god do not assume the "full" power scehem of a Leshy. I can't believe you even brought that up lmao xD your character is going to tickle people to death. Also I'm not sure how much research you've done, but I just want to let you know. The "sidhe" are basically fairies, or perhaps elves depending on your mythological origin, and are referred to as the Aos Si in Ireland. Sidhe actually translates into to the area in which the fae live, literally: mound.

Don't underestimate the power of the tickle! It can be used to extract vital information you know:

And yes, I did mean the Sidhe as in the weird Faerie kind, although I suppose 'Fair Folk' was a better description. Anyway, if I do play as something akin to a Pooka if i'm going for something a bit malevolent, or a Cat sith as I have a soft spot for black cats. Even if they have a patch of white fur on their chest.
Well now, this has attracted me. Man, I can't believe how much I don't know about the 17'th Century, I'm going to research the crap out of this time period-well, I do know about the Golden Age of Piracy. A Corsair from Algiers would be a interesting character.

Kapu is under the impression of "The more the merrier" (For now, until he has like 40 odd people and gets to post in his IC once every three months XD)But, As far as I am concerned there is probably room, kapu should be on in a handful of hours, usually. I would get up a CS and I'll answer your questions to the best of my knowledge if you have any.Do keep in mind this roleplay is more centered around mythological creatures of fantasy and theory. Like the phoenix, the golem, the nine tailed fox, the harpy, and so forth. Something with a deep cultural lore, or a fantasy backing.

Ah. Yeah, that sounds like Kapachu.

Hmm. I could always have a character that's based off of Koschei the Deathless or the Baba Yaga, but those two really don't use shape shifting that would fit the shifters, Plus I'm guessing we're going to run into those two, or at least whatever inspired them. One of the creatures from Judeo-Christian Mythology like the Angels or the Demons would be too pretentious for my tastes, and Hellenic myths too intertwined with the almighty gods. Which isn't a bad thing, up until my character literally offends almighty Zeus and the new world becomes more dangerous than usual.

A Leshy or one of the Sidhe might be fun.
Any room for one more?
Lel, trainwreck threads always attract the Fedoras. Like disease ridden Flies to a rotting corpse...
So, any details on this alternate Equestria?
