If someone would like to make a consolidated map of the world that would be swell. I can make one as well but I'm rather busy at the moment so it will take some time. Just don't bother including Faze anywhere for reasons that are self evident
I can give it a crack. I'll only add the nations that have been moved to the characters tab, to avoid me confusing myself. If anyone else wants to do it, go ahead. MAP WAR I say. @Flagg So, lets iron out some framework. - Chee and Dratha have had their fair share of war in the past, but these conflicts have mostly been isolated to the locales, and have been rather small affairs. - Dratha numerical and technological superiority has driven the Chee northwards over the space of say, 500 years. This has left many ethnic Chee stuck in Dratha's northern territories. Rather than slaves, let's just say people of Chee descent face a bit of racism, and are treated by some as second class citizens? Enough to irk the Chee Nation, but not enough for it to want to war over. - Sun Worshippers vs the Sons of Night; although there is a certain level of mutual respect for opposing Gods, which has so far prevented any full scale holy war. That looks good to me, but I'm happy to compromise. To be honest, I can work with anything, so add/change what you want/need to :)
The only things I would add: - slavery is definitely permitted in some parts of the Consanguinity, and some Chee are likely enslaved along with other non-Drathan peoples as well as some Drathans themselves (losers in local wars, etc). This state of affairs has been the status quo in Dratha for a long time, so while it may have caused wars in the past, it is unlikely to be a fresh outrage to the Chee. In other places there is likely a large Chee population- especially in the cities- where they face the sort of discrimination you mention. If you're totally against any Chee being enslaved, no problem. - It would be cool for there to have been like a Chee Attila in distant ages, who conquered much of the Dratha and who is still sortve a boogeyman/national hero in the southern continent, depending on one's persuasion. Perhaps this was the full scale holy war you mentioned? Like have one semi-mythical great war between the peoples, perhaps with the Chee winning spectacular victories, and then the history since has been one of slow Drathan success in pushing them back north. I feel like that fits the character of both nations nicely. Religious diffusion and the mutual coopting/borrowing of beliefs, cults and rituals by both groups have since cooled the religious animosity and generated a certain level of mutual respect and recognition, especially in contrast to new northern faiths, but religious tension is still around in a more muted way. Work for you?
Works just fine :) For reference, Targul Hrung is the bogeyman you're after. The last Chee to have unified the tribes in a war of conquest and other grand things. Been dead five centuries, and the Chee have seldom risen to his greatness in recent memory. If you don't eat your oxen testicles like a good boy, Targul Hrung will come get you in the night! Well that's that then. Looking forward to this starting.

@Forest Bandit Another idea I had was that there could be a significant ethnically Chee population in Dratha lands- perhaps enslaved?- and maybe one of the Chee Nation tribes might be an exiled Dratha clan. Sorry for the double post.
No problem. I like that last idea very much. There'll be no end of bad blood between our peoples, and it'll add to the fun of trying to establish common ground before the North invades and murders us. I like what you've done with the religious side of things. Man, our people are gonna hate each other from the get go. Also, referring to "if the Dratha did push the Chee northwards, it likely would have been a slow process over many centuries.", this is what I meant. The Dratha are the more "civilised", with permanent settlements and I'm assuming an expanding population, correct? MY peoples by contrast are nomadic, travelling from one area to the next. Their population would be relatively small in comparison, (at the moment I'm predicting around 4 million, which includes children and the infirm.) Naturally, when it came to competition for resources, I imagine the Dratha would have had the upper hand. So over the centuries, the Chee would have gradually moved further north.
I have an idea. Bear with, but has the Mi-24 got a crewman (ie. inside the back)? Because if so, I have a plan...
It has whatever you need it to have.
@Commodore Robot: My NS can use some continued tinkering, but I think it's mostly complete and ready for review. @Forest Bandit: Happy to work on some collaborative history, fellow New Worlder. I mention the Chee in my NS.
Oh awesome, I'm not alone! That's a green light for the collaborative history. The Chee Nation is young, but the tribes that form it are ancient, so there would have been a fair amount of interaction between the two peoples. I'm going to go ahead and say the Chee is an ethnicity, based mostly in the Odase region (my territory, basically). I think I'll go and make that clear in my sheet. From what I've read, the Dratha are the more advanced, rooted and mightier of the two. Perhaps we could start off hostile, with the Chee having been pushed from the south slowly by Dratha, driving them into conflict with the northern territories. Then once civilised man starts abusing our lands and peoples, we can talk about uniting. Nothing says "fear me" like a multitude of semi-cannibalistic natives going on a War Path.
To clarify my post, had to write it in a bit of rush unfortunately, due to IRL obligations: Active Blackjack teams, do whatever you want to get the mission done. Konrad, Skyth, intercept any and all pirate vessels heading towards the Odessa's location. An MI-24 is now airborne, and can either ferry you or unleash death and destruction on laser targ... I think you guys know what that thing can do better than me. Hop to it.
Antov booted open the doors to the Coms Room, and marched in yelling hell fire. "What the fuck is happening on that ship? Someone tell me why the fuck I can't reach half our God damned contractors," he roared, picking up a vacant office chair and tossing it over a bank of servers. Someone may have laughed at this comical gesture, but the fury in the Black Russian's eyes told them this was unwise. "We're not sure sir. Coms went down with Hotel Three abruptly; we're trying to work out what the fuck happened ourselves, sir," Coms Chief Adrian Shepherd managed to rattle out. Sergei ran his thick palm fiercly over his hair, shaking his head violently. "This is not how R.E.S.C.U.E operates! For fuck sakes, we're a multi-billion dolar venture with the world's best fucking people. Get me hooked up to the Odessa teams, pronto." Adrian nodded nervously, and dived back into his keyboard. He slammed away at the keys, pausing occasionally to yell commands at the junior staff. The coms room, all computers and screens, became a frantic buzz of activity as each man did his best to steer clear of Antov's rage. After several nerve warcking minutes, Adrian finally sighed and gave himself to his fate. "No idea sir. Hotel Three is off the radar, all com lines are dead. We're looking at a crash. Cipher Team is in the water, or worse." Before he had even finished speaking, Antov had grabbed the nearest mic, squared in his administrative broadcast frequency and began yelling. It was a risky move, anywhere else in the world where radio communications were so easily monitored; out here, on the coasts of Somalia? Even if the pirates did intercept his words, there was fuck all they could do about it. "All teams, this is Sergei. Cipher are MIA, possible crash. Kingpin, Prophet and Cobra, you are to improvise the shit out of the situation. Fuck the plan; get those hostages out, and do it quickly. We've got pirate activity in the area, and they're likely coming to investigate the happenings on the Odessa. You are clear for lethal force, say again, you are clear for lethal force. Osprey, Virus, I want those pirates stopped. This'll be a good opportunity to put more of them out of action, and at the same time, I don't want our hostage extraction getting hit from the ground. I'm sending up the Mi-24, she's ready and loaded for bear. I'm giving you full operational control of its inventory; do what you have to do.... what a fucking nightmare, let's just get this over with. Antov, out." Turning from the Coms Room, and exiting the room, Sergei left for the armoury. Not really acknolwedging his surroundings as he went, he absent mindedly keyed his radio. "This is Antov, we have a possible bird in the water. Who've we got in the area?" A few seconds passed before a burst of static emitted from his earpiece, followed by a Frenchman's voice. "We've got a Sea king on the Ayatollah, but she's an hour away." Sergei paused to punch a random piece of the ship's internal metalwork. His fist came away bloody. "Understood, cancel the request," he replied with a heavy sigh. A few clicks on his headset later, and he spoke again, "Captain, take us to the Odessa. We've got men in the water, and fuck knows what else." "Yes, Mister Antov," came the reply. Sergei came to a rest at the armoury door, and hesitated. Why had he come here? Weapons weren't going to save his people. "Fucking crash," he murmured. "What a day this is shaping up to be."
Ah, good. Another interested party. I might have to keep an even closer eye on this. Forest, please don't actually take literal months before you roll out version two.
Already commenced work. Remade the RP Summary, added a Background and did some other tweaks. More tweaks are on the way. Next I'll go and revamp the Entry Sheets, covering the following stuff: - Indvidual Characters - Factions - Fleets - Squadrons/Bands - Ground Formations - Organisations - Other stuff, the more of I think of it. But yeah, my time is currently tied down to other RPs, so whilst this wont take months to fix up, it wont take hours either. I'll keep you all posted.
Unfortunately, I have to wait until tomorrow before I insta-kill the inactives. This isn't the 2000's, we can't just go booting people left, right and center without a fair trial any more. So once I have legal power to destroy them, we're probably looking at a redeployment to the Odessa. Thanks for your patience.
This formula could work. An open-world freakin' sci-fi RP. I say redo it, see where you could improve or fix things, then roll it out again. You have someone interested right here. If you can somehow make this better, count me in automatically. I love open-world RPs, and I'm in the mood for sci-fi. Edit: I like how creativity and simplicity blend in your RP, Forest. You have three main empires, yet one of them is sort of a 'gateway' to other factions and races, in that they ally them. A good number of planets. Not too many but not too little. Just enough to get people in the grove. Pretty simple story. Easy to digest. You really do have something good here, in my opinion.
Many thanks. I thought I did too, when I released it, but it sunk like a led balloon, haha. I'm currently looking at how to improve things. It needs refinement, that much is true. What you see up above was an attention grabber, as opposed to the finished product. That said, it's mostly there, just needs polish and a few bits and pieces to be added. If room clears in my RP schedule, I'll look into getting this done up and try again. Will keep you posted. Thanks again :)
