Taking a little break from PMing myself what's going to be on the OOC for a few lol. It's nice to see that you've already got some character ideas. Just to help out a little (since you already know what the classes will be...Click here if not :P) I will give you guys a little insight on the races.

Humans go without saying. Rare human races being Aasimar and Tiefling.
•Aasimar: Will have a few minor angelic traits (IE: small wings and halo).
•Tiefling: A few minor demonic traits (IE:Horns and a tail)
You can portray these traits however you'd like. So if you were an aasimar, your wings don't necessarily have to be bird wings. Like Balmung's wings at one point were dark and more digital (or formed from Aida I believe... *shrug*)

-Elves-
•High Elves
•Drow/Dark elves
*Rare*Lythari- Elves capable of taking a wolf form

-Beasts-
•Sirius: Canine face with a furry, but more humanoid body
•Bastet: Same as sirius but feline version
*Rare* Kitsune
Phew... Now that the first and longest workday of the week is over with, I can tend to this.

Definitely got my interest. I haven't watched .hack yet, but I can start it tonight and get a good idea once I finish my book report. We just have to be careful not to get stuck on "one point", and constantly think up of new interactions or quests.

First of all, glad to have your interest. Also .Hack isn't too far off from SAO. So I think you should be able to pick it up quite easily. Though by all means feel free to get some learning in about it :) Never hurts.

Well, I'm currently looking for a RP with a Virtual Reality element. .hack// itself is pretty nostalgic as that's the setting I started RPing in. SAO is something I'm a pretty big fan of, too.So, I'm interested. Also, hi Jedly.Question, though: You mentioned offline meet-ups being of some relevance, is it possible to have a character that interacts by proxy? As in, doesn't directly talk to people offline, but might send someone in their stead or just have a friend with an audio-link up? It's a bit convoluted, but I had a sort of hikikomori (shut-in) or very private person in mind. One more thing: .hack//Sign occurs in 2007 (which was the relative "future" at the time), SAO occurs in 2022... Around what year would this roleplay be happening in? On that note, which of The World's classes will you be using?I can probably help the GM explain a bit about SAO if it comes down to it, I enjoy explaining things :P. I am Inkd is intending to use Aincrad, though maybe we'll be seeing some Alfheim. Those two being separate settings/games within the light novel/anime.As for High Casual, it's essentially what Inkd said: Just a roleplay with slightly elevated standards comparative to the average Casual roleplay. The general guideline is that Casual requires some character development, language knowledge and a single paragraph. High-Casual just bumps those standards up a notch, falling just short of the expected three paragraphs of Advanced.

Awesome! .Hack goes way back for me too. I've played the game since it's release and watched most of the anime.

Answer: I wouldn't mind more of a private character offline. Personally I think it adds a sense of mystery. People wanting to find out who the real person is and when they can meet xD

One more answer: In all honesty, to give some time in between the events, I had just planned on switching this years 14 for 2041 lol. As far as classes, I planned for GU series classes

Tentative... I've got my hands in plenty of RPs, but always room for something of this nature.

Thanks for wanting to hop aboard :)

And with that, I think that's enough to start working on the OOC and still be accepting players.

As a side note: You guys can create as many characters as you think you can handle, but be forewarned! For the sake of the RP there will be a limit on how many characters will start out a little further than others. Being as the game is would have recently been released when we start.

I'm interested, just because I love gaming anime, but I'm kind of reluctant, because what Spoo said is very true, and I think that about most of the ideas given here, they rarely hit the ground and stay with all of the activity and fun that usually entails in a genuinely successful roleplay.+ I've always wanted to see a fight between Kite and Kirito or BlackRose and Asuna. Just saying.

Well it won't hurt to try it out and see where it goes :) if it doesn't work then in the famous words of Dane Cook "I did my best, I did my best, I did my best" lol

+those would be an awesome match up

Actually, I'd like to put down my interest for this if you don't mind! ^^Although, I've played a most of the PS2 .Hack games. I actually don't know anything about SAO. Anyhow, if that's no problem, I'm in. (But I'm not quite sure what High Casual means exactly.)

I have no minds o.o lol

I think you'll be fine, considering it will be an entirely new story. I'm just mixing things that I like from the two and throwing a few of my own ideas in the blender. Also high casual just means I'd like for the bar to be raised from your average casual rp, but not so much to make it advanced. Like longer posts for example.

Tentatively interested. This sort of idea appeals to me quite a bit but oftentimes goes nowhere in the long run.

Awesome, hopefully there's more interested. I have seen a few sao rp's but don't know how successful they have been. They seem to followthe same story with different characters. I'm hoping that introducing a new idea (with curveballs like in game and real world events) keeps things alive :)
Hello RPG! I would like to present an idea I've had on my mind for a while now (and my very first RP). As the title suggests this is .Hack and SAO inspired. Hope you like it :)

So without throwing out overwhelming information on the interest check, I will outline some key points of this idea:
-Instead of being trapped inside of a virtual reality game, I would like to be able for our characters to log out for real world interaction as well for the first "act" (Meaning if we make it that far I do plan to continue the story). So our characters would have to be relatively from the same area. They don't necessarily have to attend the same school or live in the same city. This is to give the online world a little break for some fun under the sun, attending a festival, or meet up to talk about in game relations.

-Races: I noticed that in both (with the exception of illegally modded avatars in .hack) avatars are human. In this RP I am going to give players the one of two options from 3 different races. Beasts, Elves, and Humans. For example, one could play a high elf or drow. There will also be a rare race for each of the three.
-Rare races in the story would have been obtained by random as an event for the games release. Those with a rare race happened to pick up the copy of the game with the special code. Of course they don't know it's special until they log in.
-OOC the rare races will be chosen on a first come first serve basis and will be limited. Currently I'm thinking of only having 5 rare players

-In game world: I want the world to have more of a .hack look/feel to it, but to show SAO some love I will also include the idea of having multiple floors. Which you would have to defeat a boss to move up to the next floor. Though I am going to try to make things a little interesting. Instead of being able to make an attempt at the boss whenever you'd like, you have to look for pieces of the key to the door. There will be gates which you will enter three words that will transport you to another map. Where you will search for a piece of the key.

-Classes: I would like to keep those of .Hack (or we could go for basic class options)

Finally! There will be a surprise awaiting the final floor. Dun dun dun :P This is just the gist of things and again I hope you guys like the idea. Feel free to ask questions and make suggestions.
