I guess the humor was lost in the translation.... Anyway we would probably just prompt any announcement with this
When the attack hit Kaz was ecstatic. His first match was a victory! It was then that he realized that he had launched into the air with no plan of recovery. He landed flat on his back and hit his head. As the elevated part of the stage lowered back down he could see his two teammates jumping for joy. Just then a thought crossed his mind, I could get used to this. He laid there for a moment as the two rushed him.

Nala: "That was awesome!"
Emi: "Seriously you're the coolest!"
Kaz: "The hottest actually..."

Finally, he got up and walked off the arena with Nala and Emi. Before they could make it to the changing room they were met by Wan Lo, who was practically beaming with joy.

Wan Lo: "I can't even believe it. All you had to do was participate but you went and won the whole match practically on your own!"
Nala: "Emi was the one who couldn't keep up."
Emi: "I was keeping up better than you, miss thunder thighs...."
Nala: "You want to call me that again!?"
Kaz: "You both kinda sucked."
Nala & Emi: "Awww...."
Wan Lo: "Kazuhira you have to stay with the Lizard Crows now right? I'll even pay for dinner tonight to celebrate."

The thought of a free meal was too good to resist. Nala and Emi were excited about it as well. It was clear that this team had never been that great and they were probably used to losing matches. Later that night they would meet at the Rascal Flats Restaurant, a moderately expensive place with plenty of seafood. Kaz made his way there to eat his fill of a free meal.

...I'm sorry, what? What's a Bosun Caller? Is that a... a fighting move or something?

LOL no no the Bosun Caller uses a Boatswain whistle to call out commands on the open deck (which would be useless in space since there's no sound)
Even though we're not combat personnel we do still get combat training it's just not very extensive and mostly focuses on repelling boarding actions and fighting in tight corridors. As far as standard military customs go, this is 400 years in the future so military conduct is bound to be different by now, which gives us a convenient excuse to arbitrarily pick and choose the ones we want. Personally, I vote we keep the Bosun Caller.
A flurry of attacks accompanied by shouting the moment the match began were all aimed at Kaz. He decides to stay mobile and consistently dodge her attacks. Although it was easy to see how she was going to attack since she was putting so much force into it Kaz still couldn't afford to relax in the slightest, he had yet to even shoot a single flame at her. The earth discs were flying much faster than before but his opponent was also making big aggressive strides to bring them crashing down on him. Then it happened, an opening! It was like time had slowed down and he could see it clearly. Her body was outstretched, one foot was off the ground, the other was barely planted on the ground, she was committed to her attack... and she was going to miss. Three discs at once came flying, Kaz launched himself up on a pillar of fire, turned into a somersault, and kicked out a decisive blast of flames at the girl's chest to knock her out of the ring.
The Vigilance had been sitting in port making ready for the five year journey that lay ahead of it. While most of the crew and the attached armed forces had never even set foot on the Vigilance the engineering staff had already spent the last two weeks working with the shipyard personnel. There were two reasons for this, the preparations were behind schedule so the extra help got them back on track and it was also a good chance for the engineering staff to familiarize themselves with the ship's many complex systems. Lieutenant Commander Delilah Dominique Delores had already memorized the entirety of it's blueprints, this in itself was an accomplishment due to the massive size of the battlecruiser.

Despite it being a new state-of-the-art battlecruiser it had suffered many hiccups in the weeks prior to launch day. It was like a new born fawn struggling to make it's first steps and start walking. At the very least Delilah's obsessive passion for engineering had forced her to insist upon working on the Vigilance despite the reluctance of the Shipmaster. It wasn't against any regulations to request such duties and it wasn't even uncommon for this to happen but the Lt. Commander and the Shipmaster were both proud people. They couldn't help but butt heads the moment they met. Over the few weeks that they worked together the Shipmaster, Commander Forest, and Lt. Commander Delores had gotten to respecting each other. They were both competent engineers in their own right and both had plenty of experience to draw from.

Currently the two of them were taking a shortcut through a small zero-G maintenance tunnel, about one meter in diameter, towards Main Engineering. "... it's the only problem you'll never be able to fix..." Grumbled Commander Forest. "...It takes so damned long to get anywhere in this place." Delilah cracked a smile as she drifted along the tunnel behind him. "At least I have a good view." The Commander chuckled slightly.
"I really don't envy you. Out on the rim for five years... and you don't even get paid vacation time."
"Will you miss me?"
"I don't reckon I'll have time to miss you between all the hot showers and fine meals."
"It's a wonder you never married."
"Actually I've been married three times."
"Is that right?"
"Yeah... none of them liked my jokes either."
"It's their loss."
"Looks like we're finally here."

After drifting through the maintenance tunnel they finally emerged in Main Engineering where commands could be sent to all critical systems on board the Vigilance. A handful of shipyard personnel were dotted around doing final checks. Just then the message came through that the Vigilance crew would be boarding soon. "I suppose I'd better head over to launch party." Delilah gave a crisp salute the Commander Forest returned in kind. "See you in five years Lieutenant Commander." With that she started on her way to the designated hangar bay.
Tonight of all nights was his first match on a pro-bending team. It happened by chance, Kaz had been sneaking in to watch the match when he happened across the manager of the Lizard Crows, a struggling team which the manager explained had just lost their fire bender. The manager himself had no sponsors to speak of and was funding the team out of his own pocket and the profits made from the matches they participated in. Kaz, seeing a way to help and make some money while he was at it explained that he was an experienced fire bender and offered his help. The manager, Wan Lo, had no other alternative on such short notice and agreed since the money from the match would be forfeit if they couldn't participate and they would still get a small consolation prize if they lost.

So that's how Kaz ended up in the Pro-Bending league. His two teammates Emi and Nala, an earth bender and water bender respectively, weren't doing exceptionally well and it was clear that he had carried the team to a draw. As the referee explained the rules of the sudden death challenge to the audience Kaz looked back at his tired and beaten teammates. "So who's doing the death match?" Both of them looked at each other then at Kaz and said, "Not it!" That wasn't a surprise at all. Kaz had been playing defensively the entire match just to keep the Lizard Crows in the game.

As he stepped up to the center for the sudden death match he could see his opponent's face. She looked frustrated and that meant one of two things, either she'll be easier to knock down or she'll overwhelm him with her attacks. Hopefully she would start to get sloppy and make it easier for him. Kaz had heard about the Badger Moles before. He knew that their leader was a rich Daddy's Girl who probably got whatever she wanted handed to her on a silver platter. One thing was certain though, he had a lot more freedom now that he didn't have to worry about his teammates. The stage lifted them up and he readied himself for her first attack. He took a loose stance and tried to look as relaxed as possible as he waited for the start of their sudden death match.
That sounds good to me. Maybe they were even chosen to do a sudden death match to settle the draw. That would make it a bit more personal.

Hey guys, I'm back now. I'm probably going to start writing the first post for the IC and get the final preparations to start on the way. We do however need a few more active players just to make sure things work. The setting for the first post will be a board a docked station, the personnel are being transitioned and briefed on the Vigilance for the first time before sortie.

That means I will have a ton of pre-launch work to do but don't worry I'll have plenty of time for lewd jokes.
