The Privateer Home Universe: 86 (The "Nova Roma" Timeline) Biography: A kleptomaniac "diplomat" from a timeline where the Roman Empire lasted into the modern day, "Exploratrix Prima" of the Inceptum de Trajectio Temporalium (Time Shift Initiative). As she was the first sent off to explore the multiverse, the Imperial Navy created and loaned her the Messor I, a one-person vessel equipped with technology which the inhabitants of most timelines have no hope of ever understanding. Unfortunately, they neglected to give her any form of translation technology, arrogantly assuming other universes would have the same languages. She speaks only a timeline-specific variant of the Latin language, forcing her to derive intent from physical cues. As a result, she's become somewhat disillusioned by the imperialistic claims of those who sent her, but regardless, she continues her attempts to collect artifacts and information from across timelines, hoping it will gain her some favor back home. However, in spite of the advanced technology she carries and her wide range of skills, her life story is currently a mystery due to the language barrier and the fact that she only rarely speaks. Travel Method: The Messor I is a craft which perfectly reflects the mindset behind its construction: Elegant, gaudy, heavily detailed, yet surprisingly efficient and simple to operate. It is constructed in the shape of an icosahedron, mounted on a pair of pentagonal tank treads. Its outer casing is composed of a type of white plastic which is foreign to Timeline 1, coated with a glossy wax and then covered with an array of ultra-compact solar panels. It can be entered and exited through a round hatch in its top face. The words "MESSOR I - INCEPTUM DE TRAJECTIO TEMPORALIUM" are engraved around the circumference of the hatch. Inside the vehicle are a single seat and numerous controls, all of which are written in Latin, and the back face is connected to a large cylindrical storage bay. On each edge of the outer surface is a copper rod. The network of rods is believed to be linked to its ability to travel between timelines, since electricity leaps between them as it travels. It is only capable of making a jump once every 24 hours, as the battery it uses to jump requires a substantial amount of power and drains after each use. Timeline 86 Rome is not known in our universe for having a very good ending, but nobody truly knows the reason for its fall. Over 200 different theories have been devised, with little support for any of them. But what Rome had never fallen? What if Romulus Augustulus had never been deposed in 476? What if the Germanic tribes had all been pushed aside or assimilated through their might? It may sound unlikely, but after Timeline 86 diverged, that is exactly what happened. Over the course of its 3,000-year reign, Rome remained strong, eventually growing to encompass most of the civilized world, with the exception of numerous smaller nations surrounding its borders and the majority of islands, particularly Japan, which only vaguely resembles the Japan we know, and Australia, still mainly inhabited by its Aboriginal peoples. Society progressed, technology advanced, language developed. In this world, traditional Roman ways are beginning to decline, in favor of a secular, egalitarian, constitutional monarchy headed by Januarius Griseus. But not everyone is happy living under Roman rule anymore, and Griseus' position of leadership is now in jeopardy as a result. With colonies declaring their secession left and right, Griseus' advisors suggest spreading to other timelines in a bid for power, and the first person chosen for this undertaking is a woman named Gloriana Titanus. She was told to act as a diplomat, extending the hand of peace to other worlds, but as the craft's engine shunted her out of her universe, she would suddenly come to the realization that the Empire was asking a far bigger task than they had originally believed.
Woot woot. Let's do this. The Privateer is ready to unleash some chaos on the multiverse, Roman style!
Solomon here is a character I cooked up just for this place. You guys should feel honored. He's an enigmatic man who is drawn to those with psychological problems, and seemingly exists in every possible universe at once, much like Jenny Everywhere. Why did I make him? That's a secret, but it should become evident as I start using him.

---

Name: Solomon Gallagher

Age: 40...?

Gender/Sex: Male

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Hair Colour: Black, graying at the edges

Eye Colour: Brown

Height: 5'9"

Description: Solomon appears to be a middle-aged man of Native American descent. Though he wears his hair tied back in a long braid, this is the only stereotypical thing about his appearance. He is quite muscular in spite of his age, which he attributes to his strict physical training regimen and, previously, his diet. He dresses in a blue suit which is always unbuttoned, along with a pair of matching slacks. His shirt is black, as are the dress shoes he always wears.

Personality: Solomon isn't the sort of man who needs a lot in his life. He isn't married, and as far as anyone knows, he never was. He does, however, have a fascination with people's psychological issues, and almost constantly speaks to the people around him in an attempt to uncover as much information about them as possible. More often than not, these people are teenagers and young adults who struggle to find their place in the world. Solomon also puts a great deal of emphasis on the preservation of his body and mind. When he isn't talking to someone, he's exercising or meditating to keep himself sharp.

It should be noted that Solomon's insatiable curiosity concerning other people is not always a boon. He has a tendency to alienate just as many people as he befriends, since he despises secrets with a burning passion and can be overbearing when urging people to not keep them. He also often holds back when conflict turns physical, which some of the people he's met over the years consistently call "an unwillingness to do what is necessary".

Just about everything to some extent, as long as it isn't super dark and gritty. I like my characters to be able to accomplish something, and that doesn't tend to happen in dark settings, in my experience.

Other Information:
I'm a college student and aspiring producer. I haven't been able to show it off yet, so I probably sound like a blowhard, but my writing style is designed specifically to break genre trends. I dislike RPs that are basically just fanfics, especially if they don't allow original characters. Despite being a complete nerd, I avoid most anime and popular TV dramas like the plague. Lastly, I'm running a betting pool on how long it takes for me to get branded as "that guy who's no fun". XD
Okay, so way back in 2003, when I was eleven years old, I came across an old topic on a Sonic the Hedgehog fan forum which doesn't exist anymore. Looking for somewhere to talk to people because I was very antisocial back then, I joined it. I then randomly discovered that there was a section labeled "Role-Playing". Intrigued, I entered it, and was blown away by it. I created a silly avatar named Stardust and was a part of their antics for a few years. After a while, I got somewhat bored and disillusioned by it and left, but never forgot how much fun it was. Over the years, my tastes have changed (and Stardust is now a much more developed and original character), but I'm still kicking.
I already mentioned this in my introductory post 'cause I'm a derp, but it all boils down to two things that bother me more than anything else:

1. Lazy, derivative or just plain cop-out writing. I cannot bring myself to read something that's been done a hundred times already.
2. People who gush so much in their writing that it detracts from the writing itself or the character it's supposed to be about.

Now, I don't claim to be some kind of expert on writing, but I'd like to think I've been doing this long enough to have a relatively high level of skill at it.
It would seem to me that you're full. Or am I mistaken?
Ahoy thar. I'm Mr. 86. I've been roleplaying for ten or eleven years now. I started off in the Sonic fandom, but eventually grew out of it when I couldn't bring myself to continue with their typical fare. I've since moved on to a variety of genres, always being sure to add my own twists to the plots.

I understand this will probably make everyone hate me, but I want to be clear that there are a number of things that rub me the wrong way in RPs. These include:

1. Super dark and depressing nonsense. I used to like that too. Then I hit puberty.
2. Characters who are literally anime characters under different names. That's just lazy.
3. High school alternate universes with no imagination. My flagship character now exists specifically to make fun of those.
4. People who play vampires simply to be edgy, especially when they're given cop-out superpowers.
5. Unoriginal RP titles. Nobody wants to join an RP if there's fifty others just like it.

And probably other stuff that's mostly just related to lack of common sense. As a result, you can expect stuff from me that's largely light-hearted and full of action, but which will cause you to question your normal notions of what roleplaying can constitute. Put simply, I'm the guy who's going to subvert every trope. And if you don't know what that means... well, you will.

To the RP section! *flees, holding a rapier in his teeth*
