Once they had arrive in the lunch room, her red eyes scanned over the room. She silently followed Seth to the table where other students were already engaged in conversations, along with the rest of the room. Azalea took her seat next to Seth, smoothing out her skirt as she did so to cover her already purple knee. Why she bruised so easily? That was something she was curious about to. The bruises weren't normal either. They were very painful and took a long time to heal. The slightest touch of the injury caused extreme levels of excruciating agony.

Azalea snapped back to reality once she had caught herself spacing out. She scanned over the crowd once more, stopping to study the occasional student. A boy with red and red eyes and what appeared to be bloody bandages wrapped around his knuckles caught her attention for a split second before she continued to study the students. Her eyes didn't stop wandering until they paused on the dean. She stared at him for quite some time, her eyebrows furrowed. Slowly, she looked away and turned back to her schoolmates that sat at the table along side her.

Her body sat still while her face remained expressionless. Azalea couldn't help but think about what Seth had said. His words replayed over and over again in her head on repeat. If she would have gone alone into that dimension, would she have been sitting where she was at this exact moment? If Seth hadn't been eavesdropping on Vincent and her argument, she could be dead for all she was aware of. Azalea turned in her seat and faced Seth. She leaned in close, accidentally brushing her lips against his ear as she whispered to him softly. "Thank you for helping me out back there. I'll return the favor somehow." Was there a need to thank him? That's what friends were for right? Helping when help was needed. Azalea pulled away and returned to her motionless position, listening in on other's conversations.
"I like you." Charlie turned her head to the side and smiled at Denny, giving her a nod of approval. "I've never met anyone who was as passionate about music as I was." She listened to the other girl talk about her school days and parents, quietly driving along the road. Charlie had once considered herself to drop out of high school, but she knew if her music career failed, at least graduating would be something to fall back on.

She glanced over and noticed the disappointed look on Danielle's face when she had said she never learned the guitar. Charlie let out a soft chuckle. "Hell, I'll teach ya'. I've been playing that damn guitar for ever. It may be hard at first, but you'll get the hang of it." She smiled sweetly and hummed softly. "We'll just have to find one later once we get settled somewhere." Charlie turned down a road and continued to drive with a smile on her face. The pain had subsided enough to allow her to smile as she pleased.

"So, tell me about your love life. There has to be someone special in your life huh?" She grinned with a small giggle. Charlie looked over, studied Denny's features.
Charlie listened to the girl speak, a pleasant look on her face as she spoke. Even though she hadn't only known the girl for less than an hour, She felt that the girl was a close friend. She would need a close friend if she were going to survive. Once Denny had finished speaking, Charlie looked over at her a half smiled.

"There's not much to tell. I had a normal family, went to a normal school, had a normal life." She shrugged her shoulders. Slowly a smirk began to form on her lips. "Of course I was kicked out of school many times for starting fights and all that shit." Charlie laughed and straightened out her hat, keeping her eyes on the road.

"Music is my passion. I've played the piano and guitar for as long as I can remember." Charlotte smiled and glanced at Danielle, gently budging her elbow. "I've seen you come in the music store many times. You must enjoy music too I assume?" Charlie asked, looking at the girl with a raised eyebrow.
Charlie felt her cheeks get warm, a blush creeping up on her as Denny cleaned her small cut. "Better safe than sorry I suppose." She laughed, quickly followed by a wince due to the cut spreading when her facial expressions changed. The pain quickly subsided and she went back to adjusting her seatbelt.

"Thank you Danielle." She said softly before putting the car in reverse and slipping out the driveway. Even though it was a small act of kindness, it was good to know there were still good people out there when the world was turning to hell. The car jerked forward, blood splattering on the back windshield as they ran over one of the dead. The horde of rotting flesh began to surround the truck. Her breathing quickened and she quickly shifted the car into drive, stomping down on the gas which sent the car off roaring down the road.

The car was silent for the next 10 minutes as they drove. They had made it to the outer part of town, driving along the backstreets to avoid the riots and police. After a couple more minutes she turned and looked at Denny, studying the girl with a straight face. She wanted to smile, but it hurt too much.

"So tell me about yourself. What you like, what you don't like. Anything." Charlie flashed her a quick smile before focusing her eyes back on the road, humming softly while she tapped her thumbs on the steering wheel.
"Don't cry, everything will be ok." Charlie gently wiped a tear away from Danielle's cheek with her thumb before flashing her another award winning smile. She kept the growing horde in the corner of her eye as she looked around the street, spotting a blue pickup truck in a family friend of her's driveway. The house belonged to the Smith's, but they had gone out of town for the week to visit a sick relative before this all happened, with the dead rising and all hell breaking loose.

Charlie took Denny's hand in hers and gave it a gentle squeeze, assuring her she could trust her. She ran off down the street to the truck, practically dragging the girl behind her as she ran. About 10 seconds passed before they reached the truck. She pulled on the door handle, nothing happened. Locked, of course. "Cover your ears." She warned her before wasting no time in picking up her bat and smashing the driver seat window. Glass shattered everywhere, landing all over the ground. Charlie quickly picked up her bat and bag, getting inside the car. She then unlocked it for Danielle to get in, starting to car immediately. After a few unsuccessful tries, she managed to get it running.

"Buckle up, it'll be a bumpy ride." Charlie brought her hand up to her cheek, winching as she touched a cut caused by the shattered glass. Ok, maybe that wasn't such a smart idea.
"I'm not worth all your effort Vincent." Azalea spoke softly as she walked up to the fox boy. She took her hands in his and gazed up at him, locking her eyes on his. "Listen Vince, I'm going to say this and I'm only going to say this once."

"You don't love me." Azalea stared at him with an emotionless face. Yes, that was a bit harsh but this boy was clueless. "How can you possible say you love me, when we only have just met? Who am I to be giving you advice on such an confusing topic, when I don't know a single thing." She sighed and looked down. "I have no experiance with love. But I do know this, you do not love me." Her face was becoming redder by the moment. "Love is an intense feeling of affection. Love is a strong word to use when speaking to a stranger." Azalea paused, debating on speaking about what this was truly about.

"You can't force it. You have to let it happen naturally." She stopped speaking, only leaning in closer to his face so he would comprehend what she was saying. "When you kissed me, that was force." She let go of his hands, her own dropping to her sides. "What I ask of you is this, please do not force yourself upon me. It will only drive me away." She glanced at Seth and frowned, staring down at the ground. She began speaking again in a calm but firm tone. "I know this is truly difficult to comprehend, I don't understand it either, but I'm asking you to try to understand." Azalea wrapped her small arms around the fox boy's body for a few seconds before pulling away and taking a few seconds back. Tears had gathered in the corners of her eyes, ready to spill at any second.

"Please, the gate."

"Yeah, that's me!" Charlie laughed softly and ran a hand through her hair. She had worked at the music store, spending most her days there so she wasn't surprised when the girl had noticed her. She smiled at the girl and nodded her head.

"It's nice to meet you, Denny. I'm Charlotte, you can call me Charlie." She adjusted the strap of her bag on her shoulder and loosened the grip on her bat, knowing she could relax now. Charlie looked down the street for a few seconds before during back to face Danielle. "I have yet to figure that out. I'm just following the road...Hopefully it'll get me somewhere." She straightened out her hat and smiled, beginning to walk again. "Join me? I could really use someone to watch my back for me." Charlie said, looking over her shoulder. She frowned as she noticed a rather large horde of the dead making there way up the street.
Salem appeared from the shadows, walking swiftly along the outer edge of the courtyard. Her black cloak concealed her appearance, the sword she dragged behind her left sparks against the ground. "Raven..." She cooed softly, skipping with a quiet giggle. Her arms dangled at her sides while she spun around in circles, occasionally striking a tree with her sword. Salem tilted her head from side to side while a sigh escaped her lips. "Come out come out where ever you are..."
Azalea stood silently as she listened to Seth speak his mind. Everything left her wondering. Why had she been so forgiving to Vince? He had forced himself upon her, wouldn't any girl beat him to a pulp? But she couldn't. Not then, not there. She had never been the violent type, her power usually gave her what she wanted.

"I don't know...do you think if you would've gone alone, would this have ended up a different way?"

Those words engraved into the back of her mind. Azalea thought about it long and hard. If what Vince said was true, that he was immune to her gift, it would most defiantly have ended in a most likely unpleasant way. She would be truly helpless. Now she stood there quietly, looking both of them over thoroughly. Azalea was scared, she couldn't protect and defend herself if she became friends with the fox boy.

She shook her head, snapping back to reality. Her lips formed a frown while she gazed at Vince for a long 10 seconds before looking away. Azalea couldn't be friends with this boy, he was a potential threat to her and she would defend herself at any cost. But how could she possibly do that if she remained friends with him? "L-Let's go eat..." Her hands fumbled with the hem of her skirt nervously while she now stood behind Seth, keeping her distance between herself and the fox.

But who was she to trust either of them?
