Dylan the Mudkip

Tranquil Forest

It was an odd feeling, floating around in a void, no sensation of one's body. It was peaceful, if the situation could possibly be described, yet oddly foreign. Almost like the state of mind in-between dreams, but... different, somehow. However, the sensation was quickly cut off, the void fading with a small snap.

"Ah, my head..." Dylan's conscious, spurred on by a small, shrill sound in the distance, returned to him in a rush, the force of it all overloading his poor unprepared brain. As his eyes slowly opened, the soft moonlight trickling through the forest's canopy greeted them, helping to shake off the cobwebs in his mind. As he gradually woke up, the sight greeting him made him recheck his thoughts. ...Forest?

His mind's sleepy shackles loosening, Dylan came to the realization that the scene he was in felt off. He didn't recall falling asleep in a forest... As his brain went to double-check this notion, he came to realizing something even worse. He couldn't remember anything at all.

"W-what the hell?" He couldn't help but mutter those words, his body groggily being forced into action. However, in doing so, even more alarm bells went off in his mind as his attempt to stand up failed, body thumping to the ground. Two red flags thrown, he began to panic slightly. He tried to scramble up to stand once more, more hastily than before, only to receive the same results. His legs having failed him, he frantically looked around for something, anything that would help him. The sight of a small, blue leg in his sight effectively made him stop his search, answer found.

That... wasn't a human leg.

His brief moment of panic over, Dylan took time to assess his current situation. A thorough self-inspection assured him he hadn't been crippled somehow, beaten to a sorry state. No, the answer was much more far-fetched than that. Or Farfetch'd, he supposed in this instance. Without any explanation, he was now a Mudkip. A Pokemon. Not only that, but he still was pulling blanks on his memory. Well, besides the fact he was a human, or used to be, at least.

The small patch of grass beneath Dylan shifted as he tried to stand once more, more cautious than before. First a kneeling position, then a shaky stand. It was odd, standing on all fours. However, he was still standing, which was better than a few minutes ago. Not that standing still would really help him. He needed to look around, search for anything that could help him. Right leg... er, legs forward, left legs forward... Slowly but surely, he began getting a rhythm going, able to move around freely. It wasn't as hard as he was expecting to be honest, as he quickly got used to it.

As the Mudkip grew confident in walking, he turned his attention to his surroundings. Mostly trees and lush earth, small rays of the pale light managing to break through the green cover. Everything felt bigger, to put it simply, his change in perspective coming into play. The lack of sunlight left quite a few parts the forest unknown, darkness concealing most of it. However, upon further inspection, there seemed to be a clearing off in the distance. Seeming like a good bet to bid on, he headed towards it.

The moon's light began to peer more through the canopy as the water type walked, until the canopy disappeared entirely, showing him an unexpected sight. A village of sorts filled his vision, initially filling him with ease. Civilization... at least he wasn't left alone in the wilderness to fend for himself in an unknown body. At night to boot. However, his initial reaction faded as he looked more, not seeing anyone at first. Chances were the people, or pokemon, living here were all asleep. Regardless, he began walking towards the village, looking for any sign of life, softly calling out all the while, "Hello...? Anyone here?"

@Shiny Keldeo Alrighty, I'll get to writing a post here then~ (Anything else I should know as I write it?)
This would be a good point for the Human Pokemon (@Noklu and @Light Lord) to hop in.

Alright, just want to make sure, should I jump in at the same spot, despite Devon getting there first?
Name: Dylan

Gender: Male

Pokemon: Mudkip

Backstory: Before all of this started, Dylan grew up in a suburban community, and lived a relatively normal life. However, being young and foolish, he tended to procrastinate various things (or at least try). Homework, chores, family obligations; almost anything was fair game to pushing back. His grades and motivation quickly decreased, and was frequently scolded. He valued his time with friends above all else. What he lost in procrastination, he made up for with general care for his friends He often was afraid that he'd lose his friends, so he tried to make them happy whenever possible. However, when one of his small group of friends had to move away, the group started to fall apart. Dylan slowly grew depressed, and with nothing better to do, stopped procrastinating. He worked with little emotion or enthusiasm. Only when he found a new group of friends did he become happy again. He continued to do his work (though still tried to get out of it here and there) and found a balance in his life. Currently he has no memory of his human life, only knowing his name, and knowledge of Pokémon.

Personality: Dylan tends to be wise for his age, due to the world wide web, as well as having to deal with some stress. He also puts others before himself mostly, however, he leans on those he trusts or absolutely needs help from. He tends to keep his true feelings and issues to himself, not wanting to bother others with his problems. Dylan enjoys to play games and has a competitive side to him when he plays. He makes friends fairly quickly (if they seem nice to him, that is), and once he considers someone a friend, he'll hold on to that title for as long as he can.

Team: N/A

Moveset:
Mud-Slap
Water Gun
Growl
Avalanche

Special Features: Nothing too different about him, besides his eyes being a silver/gray instead of black.

Memories:
Only remembers his name and the fact that he was human, nothing more
@Shiny Keldeo Alrighty, I fixed that part. Hopefully everything else is up to standards!
Ooh, this could be promising! I'm interested~ I might want to try and snag that other human spot if it's okay.

EDIT: Added a char sheet for the possible human spot.

Awesome, thanks Nok!

...I just got word that Zol is dropping, unfortunately. Once we get to cherrygrove...I'll do a rollcall off who all is still here, then, so I can figure out if we need to open registration again.

No problem! Though that sucks about Zol... Seems like the Onix or the forest claimed it's toll...
Bam! Early early morning/late late night post is done! I knew I could type a good post with the help of caffiene! :D

And don't worry, I'm feeling better already! It was a really weird bug... Still is, I guess, but it doesn't bother me as much now. :)
~Ryley Grisdoe~

Of course Avery couldn’t be found nearby. Of course. Nothing could be that straightforward with that airhead, could it? Ryley and Melody had searched for a while, trying to find that helpless kid. Oh, and of course Fern helped as well. After a fruitless search, Ryley threw his hands in the air, giving a small sigh.

“I give up. He’s probably wandered off on his own or something.”

Well, there was another alternative, but Ryley didn’t want to say that one. If Avery had actually confronted the Onix again… No, it wasn’t smart to dwell on that. For now, the two of them needed to head out. Hopefully they’d encounter Avery, or someone.

“Let’s get moving. We should try and find the others before it gets too dark.”

The sun was already beginning to set, providing a vast array of colors lighting up the sky. Needless to say, if they wanted to find the others today, they needed to hurry. Ryley recalled Fern, giving a kind nod, and took off at a jog. He had no real idea of where he was going. He just started heading back the way they came, and hoped for the best.

A couple of hours later, darkness was taking it’s toll across the route. Ryley could often hear a stray Hoothoot here and there. Dammit… this was starting to look bad… He and Melody still hadn’t run into any trace of their group, much less human contact. They would need to set up camp soon… and having only two people wasn’t the best case scenario.

Ryley glanced over his shoulder to see how Melody was holding up. She seemed to be fine for the most part. They had grabbed a quick drink of water a while ago, so they should be good on that end. Hunger on the other hand… Ryley turned his gaze forward. They could worry about that when they set up camp.

A very small snapping noise off in the distance caught Ryley’s attention. He signaled to Melody to stay quiet as he listened in. It seemed to be distant enough not to be a threat, but his curiosity made him tune in. There! It happened again! Though this time it was more like a pop. It was barely audible, so it was hard to distinguish. What was making that sound…?

An optimistic thought crossed Ryley’s mind. At this point, he would follow that thought, despite the risks being wrong held. He motioned Melody to follow, but stay silent. If he was wrong, he sure as hell didn’t want to attract attention. He walked slowly towards the sound, staying alert for anything that may come. However, another noise made him lower his guard.

“Thank Arceus… I think that’s the others”.

Ryley took off at a jog, not caring for precaution at this point. He craved for the safety numbers brought. As he began to draw closer, he could make out some of the words being spoken.

“W-at… e-ery--dy… t-?”

Was… was that was Avery…? What the hell Avery… what the hell… That airhead was probably enjoying the company of the others while he and Melody struggled and despaired over finding him and everyone else. That aside, however, those words struck something in Ryley. It almost sounded like they hadn’t found most of the group… not a good sign.

“If… aw-y… Onix… t-ey’re fin-… Unless… another… pokemon… you know…”

And that sounded like Abigail. A small part of Ryley hoped that she would be one of the ones they hadn’t found. However, at this point, he was just glad there was another person.

There was a small break in the conversation, silence except for the occasional snap, crackle, and pop. Ryley and Melody approached closer, the light of the fire now quite visible. He thought he heard a third person speak, but it was too hushed a tone to make out what was said. However, it was just good knowing there were at least three people there.

“Quiet you. Let’s ignore the jerk”.

...Aaaaand there was Abigail again. Unless the third person had said something insulting, then those words were very… Abigail’y’. Couldn’t really put it any other way than that. ...It really would be a lot easier on the group if she was one of the missing people.

Ryley continued to jog through the forest, until he finally broke through some shrubs into an opening, a very small camp having been set up. There was Avery, Abigail, and Blake, all there. Only three of their original eight… That meant they were still missing three. Not as bad as missing half, but he had hoped they were only missing one, or best case, none.

In any case, he had just burst into the campground out of nowhere, and a word or two needed to be put in to avoid an awkward situation. Loading witty comment in three... two... one…

“Things got a little rocky back there, huh…”

...Dammit... Brain, what the hell are you doing? ‘Rocky’? Seriously? That’s the best you can do? Ugh… well, he was tired, and he didn’t want to talk too much. That was a fair excuse, right? For now, a warm fire sounded really good right now. Ryley walked over to the heat and sat down beside it.

“Sorry… that was bad. Too tired to care right now”.
Well, I got half a post done... I hate being sick. It's so annoying. Why must it ruin my train of thought so often? :(

I'll definitely finish up in the next 24 hours though. I made decent progress, so it shouldn't be too hard.
