And btw, vikings had the most empowered (i use that word loosely) women of the ancient world. They could own land, get divorced, ect. Although they weren't permitted in raiding bands or even to hold weapons in some cases. But anything domestic, including finances, was the woman's job. They were considered wise in most lore too

Appearance: Gao stands at 5'7" and weighs 145 lbs. He has jet black hair that he keeps cropped short to his head, and dark brown eyes. He's average sized, neither slim nor bulky, but he does have muscle definition. He dresses simply in tee shirts and jeans for the most part.

After a chaotic life of running from, and then fighting, monsters, Gao has developed an outlook close to devil-may-care. He is apathetic, in a way, in that he's learned to stop caring about what happens to him. He doesn't believe in fate, but despite his actions his luck rules the outcome of his encounters. So, Gao looks at life with a carefree attitude. What happens will happen, and he trusts himself to deal with things appropriately. He's calm and personable in demeanor, with a slow temper and good sense of humour. He's very easy going, but that might be because of the large amount of pot he smokes. He's not one to disagree, especially because he cares little about being right or what other people think. He can be blunt at times but tries to keep from being rude about it.
Likes: Smoking pot, sparring and training, guys, fresh fruit
Dislikes: Philosophical reflections (he finds them pretentious), lazy people, people that know nothing about pot and have never smoked but judge him for it anyway, homophobes, overly-confrontational people
Talents: Hung Gar, a type of southern kung-fu, rolling joints, listening
Biography:
Kong Huang-Fu was a poor man from Beijing. His family had very little in his youth. He worked hard in school and at work (which was needed) though he never managed to rise beyond that station. When he was 23, poor and desperate, he traveled to the USA thanks to illegal human trafficking. For three months, Kong toiled under the thumb of his deliverers in a sweatshop in New York. There, he met a woman who at first introduced herself as Tara, and his life changed. His short stint in the sweatshop ended when Kong won the lottery - a whole 459 million dollars. Kong's life turned around that. After going to business school, he invested his money and became a well-known and well-respected stockbroker. He bought a high rise apartment building in the city proper, Glendell Heights. But his best gift was that Tara blessed him with a healthy son.
But after that, she had to leave, and Kong had to face the price of fortune's favor. He came down with a debilitating sickness that left him paralyzed from the waist down and caustically bitter.
Gao was raised in the top of Glendell Heights, overlooking the sprawling city of New York in the building that was his father's greatest investment. He was an inquisitive child, but courteous and respectful, and so was adored by banker and socialite alike that he saw daily in his father's building. Although now an angry man, Kong relished Gao and viewed him as a remnant from a better time. Kong's humble beginnings dictated the way he raised his son and so Gao was never spoiled. Anything Gao wanted, he had to work to get. He would receive no hand out from his father. In school, Gao was a quick study, and eventually skipped several grades and graduated high school by the age of 16. Gao's father also had a strange drive to put Gao through martial arts lessons, and encouraged to the pointing of forcing Gao's physical training. Unbeknowst to Gao at the time, his father was trying to prepare Gao for the life he would have to live.
Throughout his life, Gao had always thought that some curse followed behind him. For most of his life, and still, whether it be a simple misstep or disastrous accident, he has terrible luck. But, on the other end of the spectrum, when he really needs it, his luck comes through against impossible odds: a perfect shot in a monster's eye, or tripping out of the way of a speeding truck while crossing the road are just a few examples. Gao consistently shifts from one end of the karmic scale to the other. For a mortal, this wouldn't be a huge problem, but for Gao it proved to be almost deadly. The older Gao became, the more it seemed as if every monster in the northeast had caught his scent. By the time he was 15, he was being attacked almost every week. The only thing that kept him alive was his wit, quick feet, his preemptive training, and no small amount of luck. He was attacked on the street, at home in his father's building, and even at his public schools (which somehow magically never found out). After he graduated at 16, his father told him the truth about his heritage. That was the first summer he attended camp half blood.

Other: As an effect from his ambiguous luck, Gao has a resistance to magic. Sometimes, between a 1/10 or 1/15 chance, magical attacks and effects dissipate around him instead of hurting him. His luck rarely play a part in his dodging or direct fighting skills, however.
