One thing. I feel like its a huge waste to include stuff like history and personality. This is Dark osuls right? All of that should come from item discriptions. I plan to have that for everything I use, magic included.

You're right, I didn't even think about that! That's a great idea, and I'll change the app to fit that. Thanks.
Bam, got an OOC up! Tell me how it is, and if there's anything that needs to be added/changed. Feel free to throw up an app if you'd like, mine will be done by tomorrow! :3

In the Age of Ancients the world was unformed, shrouded by fog. A land of gray crags, Archtrees and Everlasting Dragons. But then there was Fire and with fire came disparity. Heat and cold, life and death, and of course, light and dark. Then from the dark, They came, and found the Souls of Lords within the flame. Nito, the First of the Dead, The Witch of Izalith and her Daughters of Chaos, Gwyn, the Lord of Sunlight, and his faithful knights. And the Furtive Pygmy, so easily forgotten.

With the strength of Lords, they challenged the Dragons. Gwyn's mighty bolts peeled apart their stone scales. The Witches weaved great firestorms. Nito unleashed a miasma of death and disease. And Seath the Scaleless betrayed his own, and the Dragons were no more.

Thus began the Age of Fire. But soon the flames will fade and only Dark will remain. Even now there are only embers, and man sees not light, but only endless nights. And amongst the living are seen, carriers of the accursed Darksign.

Yes, indeed. The Darksign brands the Undead. And in this land, the Undead are corralled and led to the north, where they are locked away, to await the end of the world... This is your fate.

Only, in the ancient legends it is stated, that one day an undead shall be chosen to leave the undead asylum, in pilgrimage, to the land of ancient lords, Lordran.

Indeed, an undead was chosen to make the pilgrimage. The Chosen Undead's journey came to an end after he retrieved the souls of lords, feeding them to the lordvessel and finally defeating the empty husk of Gwyn, The Lord of Cinder. The undead was left with two choices then, give his soul to the first flame to rekindle the Age of Fire and continue the cycle, or neglect the flame and thrust the world into the Age of Dark. He chose the latter, allowing the flame to die out and becoming The "Dark Lord".

The Age of Fire, in its final death throes long before the Chosen Undead was even born, recieved its just end with the death of whatever remained of Lord Gwyn. His desperate action of linking the bonfires, which had only succeeded in prolonging the suffering in the world, would lie dead with him. Now, under new leadership, the world can finally move forward into the Age of Darkness and perhaps recover some of what it had lost. (Cited from http://darksouls.wikidot.com/ending)

But with the link between the bonfires fading, the only things holding the world together, there is little left to rule over. The abyss was allowed free reign after the waning of the first flame, corruption gradually spreading across the lands. What remains is twisted, broken. Desperate few civilizations remain, and what do are slowly gnawed away by beasts of the abyss and the curse of the undead. Those who fail to overcome the curse become mindless beings, only shells of their former being.

Half a century has passed, and a magical bulwark against the dark has been established by the most skilled mages of the land, though there are doubts it will hold for long. Hope is fading, and the undead curse is still widespread. The holders of the accursed darksign are corralled to the north, to await the time when the dark finally takes over. Do you have what it takes to keep your humanity in check, or will you go hollow like the land you live in?

Kindle was just going to stand in a corner and go about his business, but something else sorta happened ;-;
Calm down you idiot, there's no reason to freak out. Kindle scolded himself mentally, attempting to push down his welling panic. Taking a deep breath, Kindle would take a step closer to where the majority of campers were congregated. As he did so, a smiling camper turned and pushed a red plastic cup into Kindle's hands, spouting out words that were incoherent to Kindle. Smiling a bit and muttering a thanks, Kindle would look to the cup in his hands.. The cup had a strange, dark liquid swooshing around inside of it, but Kindle didn't pay much attention to that, rather hastily raising the cup to his lips and allowing the liquid to drain past his lips. As soon as the fluid touched his tongue, Kindle choked. It was alcohol! Kindle's face contorted and his mouth opened, immediately spitting out liquid, which flew towards a small group of people. That group of people would just so happen to be Erin, Thane, Astrid, and Jack, who were now in the splash zone.

Kindle's face reddened as he realized what had just happened, and he opened his mouth to apologize. "S-sorry, I-I... I'm sorry!" Tears welled up in his eyes and he blinked them back. Now was the time to get out of there before he embarrassed himself even more. Spinning on his heels, Kindle would find himself trapped between the bodies of other campers, unable to move away from the group. Kindle was suddenly aware of the sounds of music and the talk of other campers pushing into his eardrums, and he longed to go back to his cabin, where he was free from the embarrassment of his current situation. Turning again to face the group, Kindle looked down to the floor and stared at his feet, his cheeks still red. Great, he'd only been there for five minutes and he'd already screwed up.

It's also entirely possible that you could toss in the return of the Lord Souls as well. Each cycle of dark is always accompanied by an age of light, so the story could be set during the very beginning of this new age where Undead battle against the abyss using the power of the new lord souls.

I actually was planning on having the lord souls involved, too. They would be in new bodies by now, and would be fading, but still there. I'm planning on our characters obtaining them after some epic boss fights.

What's wrong with that? .-.

Edit: I just got it

Well, technically they could be undead elves, orcs, dwarves, and etc. Remember that all humans are affected by the darksign and become undead. So if you consider Elves and Dwarves as demi-humans, then they would eventually turn hollow as well.Don't forget that the Berenike Knights from the first Dark Souls went hollow, and they were 12-foot tall giants. Humans come in many species in the Dark Souls world, so you could easily make a case for other demihuman races turning undead as well so long as they can manifest the Dark Soul.

It's possible that you could have it be that undead keep getting sent to Lordran because they haven't found out that the Chosen Undead has already linked the fires and reached an ending (light or dark ending). So they just keep sending undead there. The various characters could meet up in the asylum (which we could easily interpret to be 4-5 times large than the one we see in the game for the sake of the RP)

Yeah, I know it's possible to create demi-human elves/dwarves, but I just really don't think characters like that would fit into the Dark Souls world. I know it could work, but I'd really prefer to swerve away from custom races such as that.

Yeah, I'm finalizing a little concept right now. Unless you guys are against it, I think I'm going to go off of the ending of Dark Souls 1 where the Chosen Undead became the dark lord. It'll be set at least a few hundred years later, and the abyss will be running rampant across the world. Undead will be far more common, hollows for the most part. We'll probably have something like you said where the humans still send undead to the asylum, and we could probably start up there for the most part. And yeah, most areas will be extended. We'll probably be in what used to be Lordran, though it will be completely different by now, and it'll be scaled a bit larger too. I'd still like to keep to the more dungeon-like feel though, so there will be a lot of action for sure.

Will the characters grow during the rp? Don't get me wrong...I don't mean a full level system, just some advancement.

Though there won't be any levels or anything of the such, you're free to advance your character however your wish, provided they've actually trained to advance. I've been thinking of how we're going to work souls into the roleplay, and I've been playing around with souls perhaps transferring a small wisp of the former owner's memory to the person who takes it in. Per se an undead was an expert bowman before going hollow, if you killed him and took on his soul perhaps you'd be a bit more familiar with the workings of a bow, how to hold it and the such, a bit of shooting. You'd never be able to learn a skill this way, it would just provide a bit of help if one wanted to learn the skill, or needed to use it in an emergency. This is just a concept I have going, still working on it.

Interested!Though as for the setting what would that be? I know you talked about after the fact, but have you ever throguht about during all of it? In Dark Souls 1 we NEVER got to see any of the cool stuff that happened in the lore. Like the war of the demons Etc. Why dont we set it during those events and have a impact on Dark Souls one as a whole? Heck we may even stop the entire thing IF we are good enough. Fighting Demons and the like.

That's a great idea and it would provide some really nice roleplay, but I'd like to stick more to the undead, the lord souls, and the first flame for this roleplay. I'd like to portray the hopelessness of the curse and the futility of continuing the cycle.

Like I said guys, I have almost everything down inside my head now, just need to work on some final points. I'll try and get an opening post created by tonight, and the OOC will most likely be up by tomorrow, tonight even if I'm able to. Thanks for all the interest, I'm glad to see other fans of Dark Souls out there! :D
I'll try and get an outline of the thread done by tonight, but I won't have computer access for some hours. Also, what do you guys say when it comes to worldbuilding around Lordran? The roleplay would be at least a few hundred years after the chosen undead became the dark lord in our little alternate storyline, so that will give ys enough leeway to create what we want for the most part. With the abyss spreading and the darkness setting in, a large amount of land and creatures will be corrupted. We also need to find a way for our characters to actually get there in the first place.

I have most of the pieces together, so hopefully we can get an OOC started up soon
