"If you kill me, your only chance of getting out of here alive is gone." Taerys remarked flatly, warily eyeing the new arrivals. What could they be so afraid of that they were willing to kill any outsider they came into contact with? "I'm part of the Alliance. The rest of my team are outside the walls and will soon be on their way here." The Varyx relaxed her stance but still kept her eyes on those who had their weapons pointed at her. "Tell me what happened here, and how we can fix it. Pointing weapons gives bad first impressions..."
Taerys froze. Humans. She knew it. She was caught like a deer in headlights. She shouldn't have been here, and had even told herself that same thing just moments before. It was obvious that something like this was going to happen. Of course it was the humans that were behind this. Who else would have the audacity? It caught the Varyx by surprise even more, then, that one of them lowered their weapons. And there was also one of the human young, too. She was trying to work it out but she just couldn't.

It was at that point that Taerys realised she still had a firm grip on her dagger. No wonder they were so edgy. Slowly, Taerys lowered it and sheathed it again, standing. "One of them? What are you talking about?" She asked, her tail swishing slightly in anxiousness; she had no idea what they were going to do next.
Eyes. Two of them at that. She locked her gaze with the stranger's own but as soon as she did, the eyes shot away around the corner again. It probably wasn't a good idea, but she was going to follow whoever it was. The whole thing screamed 'trap', but she just couldn't help herself; if this had anything to do with what got them stuck here, she had to know.

Taerys took it slowly but she edged her way forward, checking her surroundings every couple of seconds. It wasn't long before she suddenly darted towards the corner and rounded it in the blink of an eye.
Honestly, Taerys wasn't entirely sure what the hell she was even meant to be looking for. Danger, sure...but what really constituted as danger out here in a place she knew nothing about? Everything, probably. As long as she could contact the rest of the team again, it'd be fine. For all she knew, though, they could be dead by now. It could be worse though; she was still alive at least, and she knew that she could cope by herself.

The Varyx took another turn, this time into what seemed like a kind of town hall of sorts. A large, open area that was eerily silent and empty, void of much that you'd normally expect in a building such as this. She felt far too vulnerable right now. If she could just make it over to the other side somehow...

Taerys' ears twitched suddenly. There was a noise over to her right. It was subtle, but she didn't miss much in the sound department. In a place as silent as this it was even more prominent. Her knife was immediately pulled from its sheath and her attention turned solely to the area of the noise. Of course she wasn't alone. She should've expected it.
Yeah, they're similar in a more general sense (as in, you control one guy in a 5 man team and you try to destroy the other team's base) but how it feels to play each is completely different. You might be good at one but then go over and play the other and be really bad :p Turns out that the match has been postponed to a later date though, since the other team was having issues with the original time. >.<
Thank you :3 I'm not promising anything, though >.>
Taerys wanted to keep on the move as much as possible; she wanted to remain unpredictable to anybody who might have been trying to track her. The Varyx did wonder, though, whether it was even feasible to do such a thing against an enemy that had managed to take out the systems of a dropship with such ease. Either way, she had no real choice in the matter.

She continued to move meticulously through the deserted colony, keeping her breath quiet and her footsteps soft. As she went in further she saw worrying signs: blood patches. Whose blood it was she didn't know, but there was at least some information to go off of. It was the fact that there was nothing to accompany the blood that had her on edge. Generally, that was a telling sign that whatever it was had survived. That, or the bodies had been removed somehow. Neither option really filled Taerys with much happiness...
Swiftly rounding a corner, the Varyx crouched down against an outside wall of one of the outer buildings of the settlement, one poison-tipped dagger in hand. Getting in was surprisingly easy. Too easy. Whoever was here - if there was anyone actually here - clearly wasn't afraid of being found. Taerys imagined that they could have sealed this place off tight if it was in their interests. Either that, or they just didn't expect anyone to come down to investigate and they weren't prepared. It was never going to be that option, not if they had the technology to take down an entire colony. Nevertheless, she just needed to be careful as ever and it'd be fine. First things first: find any evidence of a conflict. There'd have to be colonists somewhere, dead or alive. From a first glance, though, it didn't seem like there'd been any kind of retaliation. That was never a good thing.
Orders had been given to her by Varus, Taerys could accept that much from Jackdaw, and she knew that Varus would expect her to remain on track with the mission whatever the circumstances. These were some pretty special circumstances, though. Regardless, she was the only one aside from Six who could really do the job and she didn't want Six doing something like this on his first mission. It'd be close-quarters once she got the the settlement; it was perfect for her in that sense.

"Once I get inside and have a look around, I'll call you all in. Until then I'm turning my comms off to everyone. If I don't respond within 2 hours then..." She trailed off, shrugging a little. "Well, you know that means." Taerys remarked casually. Without further ado, the Varyx turned and broke into a light jog, leaving the rest of the group behind. They were further out from the walls than they planned to be, but she'd make up that time. She had to.
Taking orders from Jackdaw...boy, was this day shitty. Taerys knew that sitting here wasn't going to help matters but she trusted nobody enough to prioritize their well-being above her own if it was going to disadvantage her. Sure, there were people here that she liked better than others but nobody was indispensable. She also knew that she could survive on her own; Varaxian culture demanded it of their people. To Taerys, independence was strength.

With one final check of her armour, making sure there were no breaches, Taerys pushed herself to her feet and joined up with the rest of the group. "We need to get moving now. Whoever took our ship down knows that we're here. We have nowhere to hide at the moment." She stated matter-of-factly. They couldn't stay in one place for long out here. They had no idea what they were up against and in the open their vulnerabilities were only being amplified.
