Okay, so first off, hi. I'm Zephyr, an low-mid advanced level RP'er that's still new to RPG, and I am looking to get a 1x1 RP rolling.

So, before I jump into rules, preferences, fandoms, etc., I want to explain my "style" of RP'ing. Instead of having each person control 1 ore more characters to move the story along, there are two defined roles, the "player" and "mod." The mod oversees the RP as a GM essentially, presenting choices and events to the player. The player will respond with actions or reactions and other such things to the situations and events the mod presents, and through this style, the plot moves along. It's kind of like on person plays the main character in the story, while the other person controls the world of the RP itself. Now, I'm sure this might seem a little unusual, but I love this style because both players usually get a feeling of actually being heavily important to the RP. One person is main character of the RP, while the other person can control the world of the RP and create whatever situations they see fit (that fit within the story that is).

So, now that I got that out of the way, if you're willing to RP with me via this style, then lets continue.

Rules:
1. Posting and schedules. I can post pretty much every day at least once or twice. While I would prefer someone that can keep a 1 post per day minimum schedule, I can deal with a 1 post per every other day schedule, but overall, I would love if someone could actually reply multiple times per day, but this is most likely going to be a more advanced level RP, so I can accept up to 1 post every 2 days. I live on the eastern seaboard of the US, so I work in EST time. Usually on between 1AM to 5AM, and then from 1PM to sporadic times depending on my work schedule.

2. Dropping. If you want to drop, let me know, don't just disappear. If you stop posting for over 2 weeks, I'm just gonna send you a message saying something along the lines of "Sorry, you're taking to long, dropping the RP." If you let me know you'll be away for awhile, I'm willing to wait :).

3. Mature content. Okay, this is my rule on mature content, as well as just romance in general. Gore, sex, love, these are not elements that should define an RP. If you want a gore RP, go somewhere else. If you want love and E-RP'ing, I'd rather not, but I can begrudgingly do this every now and then. Everything in moderation people.

3b. Dark content. Mature content and dark content are 2 different things in my mind. Gore for the sake of gore is dumb, as is romance and sex, but dark content is great imo. Having storylines that create a moral gray throughout the RP that essentially forces people into making choices that could rock them to their very core as a person is something that is brilliant to me. Making people question their morality, do evil things for greater goods, especially if it goes against their moral values, like killing an innocent person to also stop a criminal, etc. These elements can make a good RP great because it's not just right and wrong in a clear cut way. It's a story that makes one question their ideals and whether if what they believe to be right is actually right.

4. Don't be a dick. Seriously, I want to be friends with my partner, but I can't do that if you're gonna disrespect me and/or act like a jerk. Shouldn't have to explain this, but unfortunately I've dealt with this scenario multiple times. You don't have to agree with everything I say, infact I think someone with a critical, argumentative personality works well for me cause we can improve one other through critique, but just saying 'That's fucking stupid, do it my way' just makes me want to blow someone's fucking brains out figuratively. So yeah, don't be afraid to disagree and even fight me on certain things, but do it intelligently, not dickishly if that makes sense.

5. Fun. If you aren't having fun, let me know, and we can try to remedy that. I'd rather try to change an RP then slowly wait for it to die down due to lack of interest from the other party.

Alright, that's it. Have I scared everyone off yet? No? Well then, next up is ideas and preferences.

Ideas:
...I got nothing concrete. I originally wanted to do an RP inspired by something like .hack//, a story set in a virtual setting that first starts off as a friendly game, but as the main character dives further into the mystery of the game, it goes from fun to scary, and then to dangerous, and before they know it, real stakes are made, but the only person to show interest in that didn't go for it since they got turned off by the RP'ing style. Hate when people don't give something a shot just cause it's different, but w/e.

So, no ideas, but I do have preferences.

Likes:
-Sci-fi: Space to virtual reality, all of it fascinates me as there is a subtle level of "possibility" to it being that a lot of old science fiction things from the past have come true (cell phones, automatic doors, special digital touch screens, etc.) As I stated earlier, going for a VR (virtual reality) game type setting would be my preferred set up for an RP, but I can work with anything. Other interests include series such as star wars (both the old movies and some of the outside literature), mass effect, shadowrun, cyberpunk, etc.

-Fantasy: Dungeons and Dragons is my shit. So yeah, fantasy and magic is definitely a cool thing to me, but I also like twisting it with modern day elements, such as supernatural beings existing in the modern day world, both openly and hidden to public knowledge. So yeah, this is something I can work with too.

Dislikes:
-AnimUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU: So, I hate weeaboos. They're honestly fucking terrible and I wouldn't mind seeing them just disappear forever. There's a reason why otaku is used as an insult in japan and most don't openly proclaim themselves to be one like the morons outside of japan. I like some anime, mainly more mature stories such as beserk, psycho pass, and basically anime that aren't just fights about giant fucking attacks and stuff, but instead just use the visual style to portray a very well told story. So yeah, fuck weeaboos and I'm not gonna do naruto, bleach, or any shit like that. (And for hypocritical points, if I make a CS I'm much more likely to use an anime pic then regular pic cause unfortunately you just get more varied/eyecatching designs via anime/manga style art work. Again, I hate the stupid fanbase of anime, not that style or actual content, though I ignore most of the content). Boy how many people did I piss off with this dislike? Probably most of the people that even read this far.

-Historical. I hated history in school, and barely give a fuck about anything that happened before the 1980s, so yeah, not my cup of whatever.

-Canon material: No, just fucking stop. There is a reason that fanfics are regarded as terrible for the most part, and that's cause guess what? People that write fanfic horribly portray the character's they're trying to emulate. Don't try and play a canon character cause unless you're exactly like that character, you're eventually gonna do something out of character and ruin the whole story cause you couldn't act the part.

As you have read, I'm very biased on certain subject matter to the point that I drive people away cause I'd rather not RP at all then force myself into dealing with people that just utterly make my blood fucking boil into a blind rage. Sorry if I pissed you off, but I just can't RP with people that I know I don't like.

Alright, so for anyone who I haven't burned a possible bridge with this whole thing, PM me or write a response here if you want to try to work something out.

So the way the style works is onne person strictly plays an OC that they control, and if they have to, will also control some NPC's to move the post along, while the other person handles the role as "mod" and control the world itself. It's like saying the person playing the character is the "main character" in a video game, while the mod is the "GM" presenting the situation for the player to encounter, react to, and move on from.

Both roles are equally as important, and fun in my opinion, for various reasons. While the mod "controls" the world, the player gets to input their actions that determine how events will go, and maybe even create a new and unique situation the mod wasn't planning for, while the mod has to present situations to a character and based off their actions, move the plot and events into a certain directions.

1 person is the main character, the other person controls the world itself and how it reacts to the main character, and both roles build off what the other does. The world presents a situation, the player reacts in a certain way, based on their actions new events/paths become available while other options become closed.
Alright, so I know VR-MMORPG's have been a big craze recently, especially the last 2-3 years between SAO and Log Horizon, and even more recent internet series like TOME, but I'm not doing this simply because of the band-wagon effect. I've been a fan of VR-MMO settings since back in the good old days of the original .Hack franchises, and having the whole idea of mere game bug or virus growing into a very real and dangerous entity, but I'm not aiming to go into that standard plot either.

First off, let me introduce myself. My name is Zephyr, and I'm new to RPG but I'm a fairly experienced RP'er of about two and a half years, and I gauge myself in high casual to mid advance. Before I get any further into this whole topic, I want to establish a "unique" style of RP'ing I would like to do. I say "unique" with quotations because it's not so much unique to me as I've seen some int checks here advertising a similar, if not the same style. The style is basically player vs mod. The two roles are the player, controlling a main character and maybe some npc's to move posts and events along, and the mod controlling the world, setting, plot points, etc. I like this style cause each person in the RP has a defined role, and feels important to the story. The mod gets to control the world and the plot somewhat, but the player gets to input choices that could change the plot, paths available, and even throw the mod off guard and create whole new and unique situations and events for both RP'ers to be involved in.

So, with that out of the way, if you aren't interested in doing a "world vs player" type of scenario, then this isn't for you and you'll probably be disappointed if we try to RP this out.

Now for rules and such.
1. Posting and posting "schedules": This is a high casual+ level RP, multiple paragraphs that are decently written please. Shouldn't have to explain that Spelling mistakes are fine with me as I tend to write a lot for small words like "teh" or "jsut" but the other party usually can assume what I mean, and I generally can assume what you mean with small errors like that. As for "schedules," if we agree to "one post per day minimum" try and keep to that. I won't mind if you take a day or two longer to post if you need to as long as you can at least let me know or something. If you take to long to post, I will drop you.

2. Work with me. I don't exactly have a set plot/setting in mind yet, nor do I have a clear idea of which role I'd be taking in the "player/mod" style. (I prefer player, but w/e, up to my partner what they want to do). So, with this said, work with me. If you want certain functions or something in the RP, tell me. If you want to do a basic class setup for characters, or remove classes and use a skill based system that levels up skills based on how often they're used, tell me. (Also, I know this is an MMO setting, but we're not gonna be strict on "levels" and such as that would probably ruin the RP).

3. Notify me of issues: If you have to drop, or will be away for awhile, let me know. Nothing worse then a partner dropping off the face of the world with no notification.

4. Have fun. If this isn't fun, tell me, and we can try to work it out. Better than just quietly RP'ing as the dissatisfaction builds and eventually causes you to just out right quit.

5. Adult content/romance/mature themes + stories: When I say adult content, I don't mean just smut and gore, but dark themes. I like dark themes, I like stories where there is a morally gray tone that that slightly covers the plot. I can deal with smut and I'm fine with gore, but I don't want that to become the focus of the RP and ruin the original plot, same for romance. AKA, I'm fine with anything, but everything should be done in moderation, ok? Ok.

So now that we got that stuff out of the way, time to discuss the plot and setting...Of which I have none. Honestly other than the concept I don't want to build anymore off of that cause I want to take any possible partner's desires and preferences into account as well so we can build an RP we'll both enjoy

Finally, if you're interested in working out an RP with me after reading through all of my ranting/bullshit, either leave a reply here, or PM me as well. We'll continue from there, can't wait to see if anyone is interested.
In Hi 10 yrs ago Forum: Introduce Yourself
Hi there, my name is Zephyr. While I'm not an old member of RPG as some others are, I am a somewhat experienced roleplayer. After browsing through some older sites, games, and other RP'ing mediums, I feel like I gathered up a decent amount of experience and rank somewhere around high casual to mid advanced by this forums standards.

Anyways, can't wait to get started here and hope to become good friends with everyone here.
