"So this is Loguetown, huh?"

Giko shaded her eyes and squinted, peering over the town. From the crashes, bangs, and rapidly-forming crowd, it seemed like some rough-and-tumble sorts were starting a brawl down by the shopping district. Golly, she didn't want to be a part of that. More importantly, it was lunchtime, and that meant Giko had to think about getting some lunch! One couldn't make friends on an empty stomach, after all. Somewhere good to eat, though... The shopping district was crawling with rubberneckers, so that was out. Even if she got through, all the places would probably be shut tight until those hooligans calmed down. Maybe she should ask a local?

She clattered her way around the plaza, accosting passers-by who, for their part, gave her a wide berth and refused to make eye contact, instead glaring at something behind her and muttering something about a pervert. Giko tried turning around, but she couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. Was it her clothes? Something on her face? Or maybe...

Maybe she had a stalker.

An extremely sneaky stalker who was directly behind her at all times.

It made perfect sense. A fragile young maiden like her, clearly new and unsteady in an unfamiliar land- why, of course she'd have a stalker. That was obvious. So obvious that she now wondered why she hadn't thought of it before, even. She had to report this to the local authorities at once. Evidence, though... It would be tricky to make a sketch if she didn't even know what he looked like. Giko needed, if not a friend, an ally.

Giko moved up next to a girl wearing some sort of shells over her ears- weird fashions, these locals- and tried to get her attention.

"Psst!", she hissed.

"Psst! Hey, you! With the pink hair!"

No response. Clearly, those fashionable shells must have muffled her hearing. Giko would have to get the girl's attention another way.

A limp-wristed wooden hand clattered over Claribel's shoulder, followed shortly by a lifeless, artificial face creeping into view, far too close for comfort. Had it been an ordinary person, this method of approach would have been strange. Done by a puppet, it was downright surreal.

"Heeeeeeeeey theeeeeere~", Giko whispered, giving the girl a wink.

Lucretia could have something along the lines of being filthy rich and/or using her family name to influence people, since she's a noble and all.

And then I guess for mine the puppet could be bulletproof or something? I don't know if that's much of a trait though.

Depends on the system, really. I'm a big fan of Savage Worlds and ORE, personally, but I know a lot of freeformers aren't fans of dice systems. A really light system like Risus or Wushu Open is generally the most coherent you can get going on a site like this. Actually, if I had to suggest a system for battle manga-type games it'd likely be Wushu, since it's one of the few systems that actively disregard powerlevels and the laws of physics in favor of doing as much cool stuff as possible.

As far as homebrew stuff goes generally I've found a hard-and-fast this-beats-that sort of thing rarely works well and generally runs counter to the "powerlevels are bullshit" nature of SHONEN BATTERU-type things. Homebrew systems that add an element of chance, on the other hand, tend to needlessly bog things down in a forum environment and make players afraid to do really stupid shit, which is something of an issue becuase doing really stupid shit is pretty much what One Piece is built on. That, and I've seen a lot of them end up being horrendously broken in the worst possible ways.

So basically what I'm saying is in a game like this you may be better off starting with an honor system where you trust your players to focus more on making things enjoyable for everyone and doing cool shit instead of being weird freeform tryhards obsessed with winning and ending fights as fast as possible. That's just me, though.

EDIT: Upon scrolling back up I think I misread what you were saying but my point still stands I guess.

Reputation..?

Hoshizora Aiko thinks. Reputation. But then, Uchima has a stellar reputation, doesn't it? Do the locals not like intellectuals? Did they resent Uchima students? She hopes she isn't targeted by any thugs. And a man on the inside? This was weird. What's worse, it was apparently common knowledge. Barely an hour in town and she was already at a disadvantage.

Aiko can't really ask, though. Whatever, we're hired. Let's take what we can get and have the bossman fill us in later.

Hoshizora Aiko stands up and bows.

"W-wel, I'll be in your care, er..."

She cocks her head upwards, .

"...Uh, I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I didn't catch your name."
As long as the powerwank is kept reasonable, I'm in.
Doesn't sound much like helping.
Sounds more like an attempt to make him to play a different guy entirely. Let the man talk with the GM on his own.
Good to know everyone is now furiously attempting to undo their earlier powerwank in an attempt to make sure Zerohex can't get in.

Also, just as a side note, how come when I bring up my greivances in the OOC, I get a barrage of "TAKE IT TO PM", "YOU'RE RUINING THE ATMOSPHERE", etc. from you lot, but when someone like Ciphra or Yoshua does, it's apparently fine? Is it because I'm not in the chat? @Phobos, could you help me out here? I thought everyone was settling things over PM now?

Speaking of which, @Ciphra, could I get your skype handle? There's something I'd like to talk to you about directly.
Are we back in control? I think we're in control.

Hoshizora is being asked about her school. This is strenge, becuase Hoshizora Aiko is fairly sure she's already confirmed that, yes, she has transferred to Uchima Senior High two or three times now. Perhaps this woman is not malicious, but just dense. Still, Aiko does not let down her guard.

"Y-yes, ma'am. I passed the entrance exam last summer, a-and I've heard it's a really good school, so, you know, I thought I'd take the plunge, right? B-but I had to get permission from my folks, and, you know, it took awhile, so I ended up having to, uh, what's the word, transfer, instead of starting at the beginning of the year, see. T-that's why I'm looking for a place nearby."
@ProPro Okay so this has been bothering me for a while now.
