So I just applied to the Google I/O conference. If you didn't know, it's Google's annual developer conference where they talk about all the cool stuff they're doing, give hands-on demos of some new and current stuff, announce a bunch of new stuff, give out goodies to conference-goers so they can rave about it on social media, and have an all-around good time.
I've never been able to go. First couple years, I didn't have the money. Third year, I didn't have the money or the time (summer class). Fourth year, I didn't have the money or the time (summer internship).
This year, I have the money (barely!) and the time (hopefully!) to go. There's a lot that has to fall into place here, starting with Minnesota giving me a tax refund for being a renter, a class I'm petitioning to be waived, and that my application is actually chosen by Google's random lottery. But, oh well.
I applied and I'm excited, if for nothing less than the possibility of going.
