Hello, everyone!
I have no experience with role-playing on forums; however I have experience with writing one-page long stories and doing short role-plays on video-games with friends. That's good enough, right?

Anyway, any advice for getting started?
I've read some of the rules before, but I still don't really get it. I'll make sure to re-read them if they're somewhere here.

You don't need to have any experience at all, really. Best advice would be to check out the interest checks, either in the general interest checks area, or the individual areas for whatever level you feel comfortable with. Based on this post, I think you could handle casual level, at least.
