Is this what we've come to? Erecting walls at our shores to keep out the natural world? For centuries mankind dealt with the disasters Earth threw at him, just the same as all of Earth's inhabitants. Yet, with the boom of technology since the Industrial Revolution, precautions have been made to block out the intensifying disasters. Shelters, walls, and advanced instruments allowing for more accurate measurements and quicker evacuation times. Were all of these measures, the walls and the shelters, mankind's attempt to block out what they had done? After all, the recent demands of the modern world had brought about a more artificial world and a more ravaged one as well. These recent occurrences are why Bryan loves his career. Exposing man's follies and attempting to spark a change? That is something he is comfortable with.

Looking out at the wall forces a sigh from Bryan. He wasn't due for an interview with the construction supervisor until 5:00, still an hour to go. On the horizon, far past the Bay Wall, thick grey clouds loom. Every few seconds lightning would flash, cutting across the foreboding sky in brilliant whites and blues. The typhoon is surprisingly beautiful at a distance, with the contrast of clouds and lightning. To think, something so awesome claimed the lives of hundreds of sailors. Nature sure had a unique way of expressing its discontent with mankind.

That in mind, Bryan steps away from the window and turns to his desk, eyes scanning over his camera and notebook. They contain all there is to know on this story and more. The personal accounts of the wall's construction, stories from families and authorities on the ship disasters, as well as full details on the current plan for a search and rescue. Turning back to the storm brings a thought to Bryan. It is up to him, as well as the other reporters he'd seen skulking about, to return home with this information. If the city is lost, if the wall fails and the typhoon does much more damage than expected, then all detailed accounts could be lost and the world will be left with speculation and hearsay. "Let's hope you know what you're doing, Japan..."
