Planet Nouvelle: Sunset
Hollie, Capital of the Kingdom of Nouvelle

The sun had finally set upon the glittering capital of Nouvelle. Its last beautiful rays flickering and dancing between the buildings and monuments, the trees and towers, gently touching Hollie one last time before retiring for the night. The people celebrated all throughout the streets and squares and plazas. They danced, sang, ate, and drank. Another good year of fortune, of harvest and peace, of children being born and kids becoming adults. It was in the middle of all this revelry that the event occurred.

It was a brilliant display of light in the skies above Nouvelle. A dazzling white exploded forth into reality, into the fabric of space. All eyes turned upwards, towards the sheer glory of such a bright light, brighter than a star, than the Goddess Demecria, as bright as a small sun perhaps. Across the capital the people had stopped, the music, the dancing, all, as they stared upwards in awe. Yet, that was only the begging of this event.

By now, young Queen Sabine stood with her friends and family on the palace balcony, their eyes closely watching the skylight. Soon, this light began to dissipate, but, an object appeared in its place, falling from the heavens to the earth below. The object turned downwards, and began its decent to the world below. The people of the capital were blessed to be at the epicenter of this event. But those within the radial view of this light were looking on in as much awe and growing joy as they watched too.

The object, or, as people began to whisper, a falling angel, sparked brilliant gouts of light from its body, before being fully engulfed in brilliant crimson and orange flames as it further descended to the planet below. Bright and brilliant, it shot across the sky, a low rumble could be heard from the capital and nearby towns, as it passed overhead, and into the region of the Gods. The object would disappear from view as it passed the Fayette mountain range, the border of the explored areas, and the region of the Gods.

Queen Sabine turned to those about her, and spoke what all across her world were thinking. “An angel has come from the heavens… the Gods smile on us all brothers and sisters… let us rejoice in this most historical of moments.”

One hour later…

The Nouvellians were all in quiet contemplation, still talking to one another about what they had seen, about the historical coming of an angel. In the week of the Sun God, Tem’plar, he had sent the people of Nouvelle a sign that he was watching over them, and they would always be amongst his children. It was during these conversations and discussions that the second event occurred.

This time, it was a brilliant blue light the appeared in the skies above Nouvelle. A dazzling, pale blue that radiated with glorious light onto the planet below. Again, the people of Nouvelle fell silent, as they all looked up once again to the heavens. “Another Angel,” many exclaimed, their joy exuding outwards. Some pointed, other held their children aloft to look at this divine light closer. Even the Queen had made her way to the tallest tower of the palace to look upon the skies.

“Such a light… such joyous of times, the gods speak to my people, the speak to me.” She closed her eyes, letting the light bask over her. She opened her eyes once more, smiling as she looked upwards at this angel. “Lord Tem’plar, Lady Demecria, Ladies Merce and Elna, thank you for sending us a token of the Light, of letting your love for us shine brightly, even in the dark of night.” She stood alone, having left her retinue behind. She lowered herself to sit, and stared upwards at the sky, marveling at the angels.

The light flickered and moved, tumbling and moving, lights flicker from the epicenter, as it too fell to the earth below. She watch it closely, not ever wanting this moment to be forgotten. This day, her birthday, was the best she had the privilege to be a part of thus far. “Thank you, all of you, my Gods. I am blessed to rule your children in your name, and in mine. We are forever grateful for all you do for us.” She grew quiet as the object sped across the sky, and it too disappeared into the City of the Gods, a region vast and largely unexplored.

A few minutes later, the frontier of the Nouvellian Kingdom.
The towns of Cherac, Derac, and Terac.

The small towns to the edges of the Fayette Mountains reveled in the sighting of two angels. The people danced around their central bon fires, bright and full of light, casting orange and red glows onto their homes and buildings. Even the soldiers danced, their weapons carefully stacked out of the way. The people were happy, and joyous. The gods had blessed the day of their Queen, and the Holiday of Tem’plar with two angels, with two beacons of light. Never had such a momentous occasion happened before, or, at least that anyone could remember.

The mountains stood many miles away, but in the darkness, an object of an unknown species flew towards these three towns. Each town was rather similar to one another. All were mining towns, each with a small central fort that was meant to protect the people in times of chaos or war. Cherac had a beautiful church in the town proper, while Derac had a dazzling Town Hall standing in the town square, and lastly, Terac, the western most town, had a beautiful monument to the Queen, hewn from spectacular rose marble that was mined from the quarry beside it. What town would be viewed, or if all three, remained to be seen.

The skies above Nouvelle, seven minutes later…

Once again, for the third time in one day, brilliant lights filled the skies above Nouvelle. Its people all looking upwards once again. These lights were far less brilliant than the two previous angels, and yet, they were just as beautiful in their own way. Little tiny lights covered the angels in the sky, their size massive and yet elegant. The people of Nouvelle all looked at one another in a collective share of joy and happiness, and then back to the skies.

Queen Sabine gazed upwards in her aloneness. She had wondered what all this could mean. What the Gods had in store for her people, for the Children of Nouvelle. The new lights were but another token of the gods, another show of love and kindness. The two object twinkled and dazzled in the skies above. Their lights were subdued, softer and more faint, and yet, more soothing in a sense, as though these two angels had decided to look upon the beauty of Nouvelle from afar, to let the creation of the Gods, the works of the people, wash over them, before they decided if they too wish to join their compatriots who had already came to the world below them.

Sabine smiled, and lay back against the doorway, looking at these two far off angels. “Thank you for watching over us… for being there to brighten our nights up, and to protect us from the hungering dark that is always present, trying to destroy the worlds of life and creation, to extinguish the spark of Light. We are so thankful for all you do for us.” She wiped a tear away, turning to head inside, and speak with her people on what all this meant…
If that is the wish of your leaders, then so shall it be. I will react to all IC interactions as the Nouvellians would.

So, think of yourselves as Imperialist Europe, and myself, as Africa, Asia, South America, India, etc. I am at the mercy of the decisions of your races. If the Ethereals decided that planet Nouvelle is of interest to them, then so be it. If the Eternal Union wishes to institute such a coupling with the people of Nouvelle, then that is at your discretion as how to achieve such.

I will give you all some food for thought. The city of the Gods, to the northern pole of my planet, is a rich cultural history of the planet. It in a sense, describes the very beginning of time for the people of Nouvelle. How they got there, who brought them there, why, and so on. Think along the lines of Stargate, or ancient Egypt with the hieroglyphics. The Nouvellians are from Earth, but from a long time past. The were once humans, but, as time progressed, they evolved into a divergent species. The "Gods" who brought them here, are gone, or, at least not known yet. They took these primitive humans from times past, and brought them to far off world to do what they needed. Be it science, slave labor, or perhaps wishing to spread life about the galaxy.
You as the other players, have the opportunity to develop how you see fit to use this. Perhaps you wish to convince the people of Nouvelle you are the Gods. Or, that the Gods have abandoned us, and you are here to uplift us into the knowledge of the future. You decided if the ancient hieroglyphs depict your people, or something different all together. Perhaps you wish to change these glyphs to better suit your needs and ambitions, the choice is yours, and my reaction will be true and honest, based off of whatever comes my way, good or bad.

I am excited. Lord Duck, and all other players, you do not need my permission to go ahead with your plans, simply put forth IC'ly, and we shall see where it leads us.
In all honesty, I am fair game to anyone. Those with good, honest intentions, or those who merely wish to conquer. The choice is theirs to make. One could chose to land a small science party, or land a warship. They could land in the middle of the capital, or, choose to land in the unexplored ruins of The City of the Gods.

I am up for anything. I leave the decisions to you more advanced civilizations as to what shall happen to the Nouvellians.
Hurray for being a colony! I am the future sight of many wars. Viva la supreme overlords who will uplift me from my technological darkness!
Planet Nouvelle
Hollie, Capital of Nouvelle.
"People of Nouvelle, my people, sons and daughters of Tem'plar, rejoice in this year, in this great time of happiness. Our harvests have never been more bountiful, our coffers never so full, and our people never so happy. I am truly honored, with all my heart, to have the privilege of being your Queen, your ruler. I've seen so much progress in the last five years, seen so much change and become a part of the norm for all of us. We've overcome the last of the damages left from wars past, we've overcome adversity and differences, we've overcome much and more, to stand where we are today. And, as we look to the stars above, to our beautiful skies, look, and know that the angels watch over us. That they are looking down upon us, and shall forever ensure that we will forever be a part of this galaxy." Queen Sabine smiles, looking over the crowd of nobles and commoners alike that pack the palace square. They had all come to celebrate her name day, another year older, another year wiser. All across the planet, the people were holding similar celebrations, thanking their queen, and their gods, for all the good that has come in the past seven months.
Food was abundant and none were hungry. The great rebirth of the Kingdom's navy well underway, as people looked to the future. Of course, no one was working today, even the military were celebrating. The shipyards and factories lay silent, the soldiers, workers, farmers, nobles, and all others from their walks of life had come out into their town squares, their central plazas, and so on, to revel, to drink, eat, and party the day away, until the moon was to arise, the twins, along with their Goddess.

And in the skies above, the glints of light blinked and flickered, little angles far above, doing whatever the gods needed of them. The people of Nouvelle cheered, and wished the angles luck in the battles against the darkness. Against evil and bad, against all that would seek to cover the galaxy in darkness. As was customary, massive bonfires were being lit all across the main continent of Nouvelle, along with the frontier towns and cities. Fires to light up the planet's surface, to show their support of the angels above, and to guard their world from the darkness that was always lurking.

"My people, thank you again... I am forever a proud Queen with such loyal and true subject as you all. Let us celebrate, and enjoy all we have earned. Viva la Nouvelle!" The queen cried out. She smiled and bowed before her people, before making her way into the palace proper to celebrate with her friends and family, with those that were given a royal invitation to the ball that was to start shortly. Sabine smiled, and hugged her two guards, before rushing off to join in the fun.
Hurry for being a backwards civilization! Bring on the alien face huggers!
Application for Mr. Abefroeman:

Name of nation: The Nouvelle Kingdom

Species: Nouvellians

An offshoot of standard humans, the Nouvellians differ from their ancestral cousins from millennia ago in a few key biological ways. The planetoid they live upon, a moon that circles a gas giant, had a much higher noble gas content due to the celestial body it orbited. These higher level lead to many interesting biological adaptations and evolutions to evolve. The first, and perhaps the most interesting and alarming of all these, was the increased lifespan of the Nouvellians.
This development was first noted some 3,000 years ago, and has since become commonplace. The people first started living only a few years longer, and as time progressed, each successive generation that had the mutation began to live longer, and longer. As those with normal lifespans began to slowly phase out, their genetic code no longer being carried forward, the Nouvellians became one unified species once more. As of now, their current lifespan last some two hundred standard years, with some living to be a venerable early three hundred.
The next noticeable difference is the skin pigmentation of the Nouvellians. Due to their home world’s atmosphere, they gradually changed from their former whites, browns, and yellows, to a hue that sat between a dark red to a reddish purple. Along with their skin changing, so did their hair. Gone were light colors, replaced by hues of dark red-brown, black, dark red, and red-purple. These change was a matter of pride for the people, and along with this change, came changes to their eyes. Gone were the blues and greens, the true browns and pale colors. The light spectrum caused a correlating change for the Nouvellians to now only have hues of yellowish red, reddish brown, and reddish purple.
While at first look, such a change could be seen as a mere outward change, but, this change in eye coloration allowed to see far better in lower light, due in part to their world’s atmosphere.

Description of government: Absolute Monarchy

The people of Nouvelle, are all subject of the current monarch, Her Royal Highness, Queen Sabine Rouverte. Her dynasty, the Rouverte’s, have ruled over Nouvelle for some seven hundred years, having replaced the former military dictatorship that had ruled over Nouvelle for many, many years. Along with the current ruling monarch, the government has a ruling body of a joint court of nobles, and elected representatives of the people of Nouvelle.

Description of military: The military is broken into two branches, the Royal Army, and the Royal Navy. The army is comprised of a standing army of some 230,000 soldiers, with another 70,000 reservists, and then another 70,000 military personnel that act as the police force for Nouvelle. In times of great need, a call goes out, and local militias and conscripts are called in to supplement to forces of the Nouvelle. This is the largest of the two forces, and the oldest.
The Royal Navy is comprised of some 50,000 active duty personnel, along with 20,000 reservists. The Royal Navy is a hodgepodge of conflicting technologies. Outgoing are the older warships of decades past, to include older Iron-Clad and Wooden warships. These ships now sit in harbors and coastal areas as reserve and training ships, awaiting for their final decommissioning and scrapping. Crewed by cadets and reservist, they serve a vital role as a training and refreshing ground for the Nouvellian’s naval forces. These hulks and remainders of bygones past are hastily being replaced by newer steel ships and designs, the era of the sail and wind to be replaced by steam powered warships.

Standard equipped forces of the Army are equipped with the Ryanos R-33 bolt action rifle, along with officers having a revolver side arm. Many officers also carry swords, when close combat ensues. The same goes for the infantry, though, their close combat weapon is their bayonet. The ground forces of Nouvelle have a few armored units to supplement their ground forces, along with artillery pieces, but, one could say, that the Nouvellians have yet to catch up with the rest of the galaxy.

Main infantry weapon: Ryanos R-33 bolt action rifle. Holds five rounds, clip fed. Removable bayonet.
Side Arm: Rikos R-13 Revolver. Six rounds, double action.
Automatic gun: Wilmos M35 Auto-gun. One hundred rounds, belt fed. Requires a crew of at least two to operate.
Light Artillery: 35mm Maura K-30 Gun. Team of four to operate.
Heavy Artillery: 75mm Maura K-45 Gun. Team of six to operate.
Light Armored Vehicle: Lida Renau Light Tank. Equipped with a 20mm main gun, and an M35 Auto gun for anti-personnel.
Medium Armored Vehicle: Lida Renau Medium Tank. 35mm main gun, 20mm secondary, with two M35 auto-guns.
Anti-armor: 35mm Maura K-30/2 anti-armor gun. Four man crew.

Air Vehicles: Mainly bi-plane designs, equipped with the Wilmos M35 auto-gun. Air Wing consist of some 200 fighters, and another 40 or so bombers. This coincides with about 30 light transport aircraft as well.

Technological Overview: The people of Nouvelle are in a state of renewal. They are entering what closely resembles early 1900’s Europe, so, roughly the turn of the century. They rely heavily upon coal/wood power plants and steam power in order to power their world. Oil reserves have been discovered, but have not be fully utilized. They are not a space faring people, but do look to the sky, and they see interesting things in the skies above them. Space, is a dream they have of one day reaching, but as of now, the technology is many decades, if not centuries away.

Cultural Overview: The culture is very noble and honor based. The Nouvellians believe in many things, but above all, comes ones honor. They value being true and honest, and in doing the right thing. This comes from the years of darkness their world endured under the Militarists. In order to combat such a darkness, the light must be always held aloft, for all to enjoy and bask in. The people of Nouvelle thus have a culture that is based around the sun, the planet they orbit, and their sister moons.
Their Gods are of three, the Sun God, Lord Tem’plar, their Goddess, Demecria, and finally, the twins, Merce and Elna.
The sun graces many things, from art, to architecture, it is ever present in Nouvellian culture. The same goes for the Goddess, and the twins. The people revere the gods in the knowledge that is was their wisdom and kindness that brought them to this planet that gave them life, and allowed them to survive through all their hardship. The Nouvellians keep a close eye on the sky, as their Goddess, the planet they orbit, has small objects that travel about it. These are the angels, the protectors of the people. At times, two masses of these objects come together, with great lights emanating from them. A battle of the Gods and Evil Darkness.
The people live a life that revolves around the sun. Celebrations, holidays, and so on, all to glorify the sun and the planets about them. The nobility takes care of the people beneath them, to ensure that their lives are just as worthwhile and enjoyable as those whom control the planet. The people are the children of the Gods, and will fiercely defend their home against any who would dare attack them, or seek to destroy the former home of the gods.

History: In the annuals of recorded history, the Nouvellian people are said to not have been originally from this planet, that they were transported here as some sort of experiment. Ancient ruins cover the Northern pole of the planet, an area that is largely uninhabited and unexplored. It has been taboo to go there, as many, to include the queen, believe these ruins are the ruins of the gods, of the people who brought the Nouvellians here, and gave them life.
As such, the Nouvellians largely have left this part of their planet alone, with rare occasions of teams exploring only the outmost ruins. But, to recorded history, that is based in fact, or, at least what can be found in written scrolls and tomes, is as follows.
Year 177: The Capital of Nouvelle, Hollie, is burned to the ground in early civil war conflict between the Royalists, and the Militarists.
Year 179: Royalists suffer catoshtrophic defeat in the bay of Hornel, losing most of their navy, along with King Bouchar. King Bouchar is succeeded by his son, King Bouchar II.
Year 185: Royalists are driven to the western edge of Nouvellian lands upon planet Nouvelle. They make their last stand here.
Year 199: Royalists are defeated, after the siege of Tuc’Volle is won by the Militarists. Royal family is summarily executed. Thirty two noble lords are executed as well, with five hundred and eight nobles taken hostage.
Late Year 199: Remaining Royalist forces surrender completely. Hostages are executed to ensure that the nobles know the price of defying the new regime. Eighty noble families cease to exist.
Year 203: Military Dictatorship begins brutal crackdown on all who were former Royalists, along with enacting new laws to give them even more unilateral power.
Year 211: Life begins to return to normal, as many of the Royalists and supporters travel south, to the Meridian Ridge, and beyond. Militarist leader dies, replaced by General Orville.
Year 345: Planet Nouvelle has been under a military dictatorship for many years now, and the military dictatorship holds in effect for another 1000 years.
Year 1202: Great uprising ensues, the Royalists having rebuilt their armies and powerbase, strike from beyond the Meridian Ridge, catching the languishing Militarists by surprise.

A second war raged for fifty two years, where many of the planets populace was engulfed in a way against one another. The war saw many atrocities, and many acts of heroism. Both sides were complicit in good and bad, and both sides saw many of their loved ones die. From a world population that once held hundreds of millions, the war brought that number far below that line. Famine, disease, and death stalked the land, leading to a near collapse of both governments. In the end, a young Royalist of the Rouverte family lead a daring attack to finally defeat the militarist government, single-handedly killing their General, Lord-Marshall General Stephanos. With his death, along with a slew of other high ranking officials, the war ended.
The militarist forces and government capitulated, unilaterally surrendering across the world. And, as the world stood upon a knife’s edge, this young noble had a choice to make. Many called for vengeance for the deaths that had happened so many years ago. But, he felt as though such an act would only serve to further a new conflict in the future. So, the first King, King Richard Rouverte, pardoned all those of the militarists. He said, “Such acts of violence against those that fought for their country, bears no dishonor nor shame. They yielded, and shall be treated with dignity.”

From that day forth, peace once again returned to the planet. Nouvelle entered a state of rebuilding and renewal. Technology advanced from swords and bows and catapults to what it is today. Those who committed war crimes, were tried, and found guilty. On both sides. Some were imprisoned, others made a choice, death, or exile. These exiles, as history will tell us, now reside in the ruins of the North, a zone none enter lightly.

As time passed, kings and queens came and went, until the current ruler came into power on her 37th name day. While young, she is said to be very wise for such a young ruler. It is also said that she is by far the most beautiful woman upon the planet, and that her beauty even exceeds that of the Goddess Demecria. Still, she rules with the help of her fellow nobles and advisors, and looks to the bright future ahead.

Other: the Nouvellians are a planet bound people, who have yet to explore the stars. They are at the mercy of whomever comes into contact with them first. They look up to the skys, and see other cultures, but do not know this. They worship an alien race who brought them here so many millennia ago, that race has since left, never to be seen again, or, at least with the knowledge of the Nouvellians. A planet that is resource rich, that circles a massive gas giant that can be used for fuel, it seems that Nouvelle is in a cross hairs for first contact eventually. But with who?
Out of curiosity, is this still open for new folks to join in, or ney?
So much want!!!!
Shut up and take my pledge!
Howdy folks, been a while since I was around here. Used to go by Eranar, but, I guess the server had a heart-attack and died.

If this is still going to proceed, I would like to throw my hat into the ring as :
