Oh, if only Alice were as good at hiding her feelings as Lucas was. She blamed it on her powers. Keeping a mental block up from everyone around her could get exhausting, so by the time she needed to hide her own emotions poor Alessia was exhausted. Besides, it wasn’t unreasonable to assume that with emotions being her main focus that everything she strongly felt was more powerful for her than the average person. What was that saying, a person wears their heart on their sleeve? Well that was Alice, except it was pretty much both sleeves and probably her entire outfit for all to see.

“Hm, I have a friend,” she said casually, giving a small shrug, It was a bit chilly in the room, her arms were getting goosebumps. She should have packed a dry hoodie in her bag to wear inside.

Alice wanted to lie, say she didn’t know anyone, but then where would they be? With nothing for the project when she had loads of information and opinions that were sure to give them pages to write about. Besides, she could keep up the act. It would be fine. “She has a couple abilities. But she’s very shy, she won’t want to talk to you,” Alice quickly informed him, putting her hands behind her head to pull her wet hair into a messy bun. “Um…do you want me to do this project myself? It would save you the trouble of meeting outside of school. I know you have football practice, and I’d be happy to do it.” Why did she remember that? Probably because she remembered him always hanging around that same group of guys. Athletes always seemed to think they were something else, but he gave off an okay vibe. So far, anyway.

At any rate, this was perfect. He would leave her alone outside of school so she could block everyone out in the evenings like she usually did, and she wouldn’t have to give any details about this “friend”. Alice smiled, proud of herself for such a flawless plan. What boy wouldn’t be jump at the chance to get out of a school project?
Oh...I'm really bad about seeing posts, I'm sorry. Hm...I hadn't thought about it.

This is how I think about it. And I hope this comparison doesn't offend, I'm not stating what I think on this subject lol Just using it as an example! I think about it like when people come out saying they're gay. I know that number has grown since I was in high school, but I mean how many people are saying they are at your school? That's rhetorical, but you get my point. Psychics are coming out of the woodwork more and more, but still...odds are you're not sitting by one, and they're probably not in your classroom either. Down the hall yeah, a few in the lunch room with you, sure.

You remember the movie xmen. I guess I'm thinking it's a little more prevalent than in that. What do you think?
GOOD. We need some violence! ;)
oh right, I mean it can't be all easy and lovey dovey for everyone haha
Alice waited impatiently for an answer, praying he would agree with her. Why couldn’t this be a group project? That way she could for once sit quietly and not participate, only occasionally throwing in small comments. Sure it would probably get her a worse grade than if she did it herself, high schoolers could be so lazy, but it would be well worth it.

And then he did the worst thing possible- suggest they keep it. Alice was about to dismally slump back into her chair and accept defeat when Lucas added the most peculiar comment. “I mean, it's a pretty cool topic, don't you think? These people are, like, modern-day superheroes, straight out of the comic books.”

The girl stared at him, tilting her head to the side a bit. “You really think so?” she finally asked, scooting to the edge of her chair to get a look at his paper again. “I’m not sure the teach will agree,” she laughed, reading over the questions. “That might hurt our grade, but I suppose we could fight for it. It is all opinion, and the media has certainly made theirs clear.” Why couldn’t they as well? “Hm, that first part. Do you know any psychics?” That would be the tricky part in all this.
haha Kennedy's handling it a lot better than Vera would. He probably would have had to knock her out lol

Lamb, I'm thinking he won't recognize their "true mate bond". I mean I assume they'll go together if that's cool ;) But because of his previous relationship he's mentally blocking any relationship he would have. But maybe she sees it? If you want, I don't know how she would handle that, but it could add a little drama. What do you think?
Jasper would have laughed at her attempt to speak if the situation hadn’t been so strange. In case she attempted an escape he spun himself and Kennedy until he had her between himself and the wall. Finally he released her, though Jasper pressed his hands against the cold concrete wall to trap her between his arms. “Thank you,” he sighed, leaning down to speak quietly to the woman.

“Look, I’ve been crashing here and I just want to know what the hell a bunch of shifters are doing in this house and when you’ll be leaving.” He closed his eyes, giving her a little more room. “Are you part of Vera’s pack? Look, I’m sorry to scare you but I need help getting out of here. Her father would kill me if he knew I was here…” Jasper paused, looking in the direction of the stairs. “He’s…not here, right?”
“I’m sure you would want our boy to look like me as I am – according to more than one reliable source – a painfully handsome gentleman.”

“Oh! Is that so?” Her mouth dropped at his all too obvious vain statement, once again showing her his true colors. Claire laughed and shook her head, knowing she couldn’t respond. There were others around, so their playful banter would have to end for now. Besides, as soon as she laid eyes on the property all frustration at Nicholas’ arrogance vanished. “Oh…Nick,” she whispered, taking his arm and squeezing him close in excitement. “Home is beautiful, but it’s much older than this. This-…this is absolutely gorgeous. I love the little pond over there, it would be the perfect place to pick up a book or have a picnic, don’t you think?”

“Do you like it so far?”

Claire nodded, walking closer to the entrance with him right beside her. “I do. I expected a lot less, to be perfectly honest, but…it does make me happy.”

Nicholas spoke to Robert about the master bedroom, and the question had Claire hiding a smile. It didn’t take long to get there, even though she kept pulling Nicholas back when she would stop to admire a room they passed or the simple beauty in the staircase handrail. Robert had been right, she quickly saw. The room was bare. Yet she still nodded, her heels clicking against the wood floors as she let go of Nicholas and walked to the middle of the room.

“Hold on, you’ve already ordered new furniture and you’re telling me I can change whatever I want?” she asked, turning to face him. “That seems a bit foolish to me. I trust you chose what would look best, at least for now. If the estate were horribly ugly I would be a bit more wary, but with the right pieces in here…” Again she turned, her arms out like she were about to start dancing. “This place will look like a dream.” Claire hated admitting this was his doing, but credit needed to be given where it was due. “I’m impressed. Thank you, Nicholas. Now let’s see. The bed will go right here,” she said, pointing to where she was standing, “And the couch will go over in that corner there. That way I can watch you curled up like a dog while I fall asleep.”

Again that joyful look filled her eyes as she came back to him, her gloved hands folded in front of her. “May I see the rest of the estate? I’d like to postpone going back as long as possible…”
Alice sat up straight while he spoke, a stark difference to his laid back, relaxed way of sitting. At his mention of their project subject, however, she became even more ridged. Lucas may have a great poker face, but she didn’t. “What?” she breathed, quickly leaning forward and snatching the paper from him. With quick scanning eyes she read the project instructions herself, tuning out everything around her.

Psychics were in the media and were “coming out” more and more every year. It would only make sense that it would be brought into the schools, specifically a psychology class. “Do you think others got this specific topic too, or it’s just us?” she asked, giving him back the paper by slipping it onto the desk.

Cool off, Alessia. If you keep acting like this he’ll know something’s up… “I just- it’s a very controversial topic, don’t you think? I wonder if we can switch. To something easier, you know,” she said, adding a shrug and avoiding eye contact. Everyone else was already talking about options for their given projects...why couldn't it be that easy?
Jasper didn’t know what to do when the SUV came down that dirt road, filling the air behind it with dust. Nobody had been to the location in months, and now his hiding place was going to be found out. He just needed a place to live until he found another job, that was all. Was it so wrong to use a place that was just sitting there, going to waste anyway?

As soon as he could the shifter hid downstairs, not having time to grab any of his personal belongings that were in the upstairs master bedroom. He waited for quite a while, only recognizing one voice- Vera, the alpha’s daughter. She was usually loud enough that everyone in the pack knew who she was, but why she was with a group of wolves he didn’t recognize at all was beyond him. Unfortunately, to his dismay, one of the females came down to grab…a medical kit and blankets? Hm, the wounds must not be terribly severe; he couldn’t smell the blood from where he was.

She smelled good, whoever this girl was, but it was too dark to tell much more than that. He stayed hidden while she grabbed her things, the shadows in the corner helping him stay undetected. Jasper was just about to let her leave when it dawned on him…he would get caught eventually. Finding out what was going on upstairs was necessary, and talking to this girl before Vera found him would be best. She could at least give him an idea of what he was going into.

Before Kennedy could make it up the first few steps Jasper ran forward, grabbing her from behind with his hand over her mouth.”Shhh, don’t scream! I just want to talk, I swear!” he whispered in her ear, dragging her backwards until they were sitting in the corner again, the furthest one from the stairway. He had his chest pressed firmly to her back, one arm around her waist to keep her there. “If you promise to not scream I’ll move my hand, but not until! I Just want to talk!”
