Ciskel put's a card down from the top of the deck. "Ace, bust."
The card came down with a loud thud, the wooden table groaned under the weight.
Ciskel got up. "Now hold on, the creature formerly known as me has a point. There's a way out of this without fighting."
He paused while shuffling the cards.
"I'm sure you've noticed some.. changes in your wizard Eli? Shu is influencing him, I believe. That means you aren't being loyal to Eli right now, it's Shu you follow. The way I see it Gao is the only one still loyal to the Eli you all know and love. Don't you agree? We can help return him to that sweet state."
Ciskel didn't expect much from his attempt at diplomacy, but he'd be stupid if he didn't try. These spirits were never their enemies before.

Martin watched his reference buzz trough artificial minds up and down in a glimpse. The machine answered. Martin grinned while looking for a place with better cover. He readied himself to swing to another ledge. "Inefficient? I do however believe that my very specific goals are being met more directly and productively by using such a format. Martin calculated the distances to the machines and possible ledges to dangle from. The fall down would probably not fatal, although it would have been yesterday. He'd still not be running after a drop like that.
Martin tried to broadcast a thought, he assumed Gabriel would be able to hear it, and if the old blood down there had any mind reading abilities he could to. maybe.

Now all he had to do was hold out and have faith. He didn't feel comfortable with faith.

Will I could maybe imagine Charlie developing interest in Ris then, but that's cause all he has seen of her is violence and destruction. and that 's kind of his thing.
So that seems unhealthy.

The cards drifted trough the room weightlessly. In the end he had barely fought, he felt slightly guilty about it, but nothing to do about that now.
