Dark Abyss (Low Casual)

Elodie wanted to laugh, loudly and clearly. The first day at her new work and she was taken hostage – it was ridiculous. Rolling her head on her shoulders, the redhead tried to remember how it all happened. She was on a small ship, one that had just come from Earth and was preparing to latch onto the mother ship, a Hydra-blah-blah Important Commander Ship or something to that effect – Elodie wasn’t great with all these fancy ship names and preferred to just go by size. So, she was gathering her stuff and slinging her pack up on her shoulder when a sudden jolt shuddered through the metallic carrier. Cursing, loud enough to be heard over the sounds of explosions, she glanced out the window. It had only been an hour or so since she left Earth and clearly wasn’t that far away. That meant the Xien were attacking Earth.

“Shit…” Elodie struggled against the bindings on her hand and mentally cursed New Age technology. The stupid aliens just had to have fancy electric handcuffs. What happened to the classic metal ones? Bending a finger back, the young soldier could feel a hole in the shape of a key. While technology was advanced, there were always simple mistakes that were repeated. Slouching over from where she was against the wall, hoping the guard dogs – or lizards, whatever – wouldn’t see her reach under her shirt and snap off the paperclip she kept hooked to her bra. Her arm had bent at an odd angle and Elodie took a moment to thank God for doubled joints. She then inserted the paperclip into the small keyhole in hopes that it would unlock. “Please, please, please, please.”

Ottela has long, ragged red hair that falls to her back and sharp, blue eyes. She is tall, standing at 5’11”, and weighs 140 pounds. She is usually dressed in black and brown, with a tattered navy blue cloak resting on her shoulders. She has a scar on her left eye from carelessness during a swordfight when fetching the head of an assassin.
- Personality –
Ottela is a snarky woman who loves a good brawl. She lacks subtlety and patience, preferring a straightforward, blunt approach. The woman gets aggravated and exasperated when she has to wait for answers. Ottela loves to fight; she finds pleasure in releasing all her pent-up frustrations and going all out. However, she can be careless when fighting and it leads to injuries often, though usually nothing serious.
Ottela is greedy and loves money. She would do anything to get it and has killed countless people to become rich. However, she is much like a squirrel and never spends her money, but hides it for emergencies. When she needs something, or wants something, she is more likely to steal it than pay for it.

- Excerpt –
Ottela grinned, her legs widening into a stance as she crouched low to the ground. Her opponent squinted his eyes at her, readying his sword as he waited for her to make a move. Impatient, she leapt at him, swinging her sword at his throat. She left her stomach open and the assassin moved to strike her horizontally. Ottela danced away, though the sword managed to knick her on the side. The redhead licked her lips, tasting the sweat of adrenaline on her lips. Gasping, they parried and circled like vultures.
Leaving her guard behind, she darted towards him and brought her sword to his neck, slashing sideways. He managed to back away, slicing his sword upwards in an attempt to ward her away. His sword knocked hers away, her own sword almost slipping from her fingers, and the sharp edge gleamed as it neared her face. Shlick. A thin red line slowly deepened as it travelled up her cheek, until it ended in a gash at her eye. Clenching her left eye shut, she howled with pain and fell to her knees, clawing at her wound. The assassin stalked forward, smirking at the clear victory. He raised his sword high, preparing to decapitate the young woman. With aching muscles, Ottela raised her sword, gritting her teeth. Shlick! The assassin glanced down at the crimson spot that steadly grew on his abdomen. Ottela smiled, pulling the sword from his gut.

Honestly, the reason for her having a magical animal is to study it. Lufu is not good at magic, she sucks at it, and the only thing she excels in is pythomancy hence why that's what she's studying. Besides, she's the type of person who would go out of her way to get something cool, so it's sticking to character. but mainly I want her to experience something that's out of her norm to give her exposure to life. Like, y'know, learning about raising things and taking responsibility for once.

As someone said about French mythology, I was thinking maybe she befriends Bugul Noz which is something akin to a fairy. He is someone who suffers a lot and it would offer a lot of exposure for her. But if I do this, I want it to happen during the course of the RP, not right off the bat.

Or, going with the dragon-theme, she could get a European dragon.

However, whatever I choose will happen over the course of the RP and not right now, because I want to develop her character through attaining a mythological animal

Elodie was a simple high school girl born in a time of war. At the age of eighteen, simply because she had no future ahead of her, she joined the military in hopes of serving her country. She effortlessly went through training and rose through the ranks over the next three years. It was then decided that she would be sent to the Dark Abyss to help fight the Xien. The redhead doesn’t know much about weapons and technology, but if you give her a target and a gun, they will be eliminated to the best of her abilities.
Weapons: An assortment of her favorite daggers amongst laser guns and military-assigned weapons

I don’t know much about weapons, nor sci-fi weapons, so I made Elodie ignorant in that aspect, but I really like this RP and wish to join ^_^

Personality:
Lovedaia is often seen as a naïve girl. She is selfish, petulant, innocent, and all that is associated with naivety except her streak of manipulation. While Lovedaia has a childlike opinion on most things, is prone to unpredictable bursts of randomness, and does what she wants, she will go to great lengths to fool people into getting what she wants. Lovedaia doesn’t see as what she is doing, when manipulating people, as bad, but as a means to an end. Amongst her qualities, Lovedaia is also ignorant. She doesn’t understand the sufferings of the world, having a sheltered life, and believes everyone should be as happy and optimistic as she is. Many believe she is not “all there” because surely one of her age cannot be this unaware. However, her innocence might just be a cold, hard mask to hide the face of an empty, bored young woman.
Abilities: While poor at magic, Lovedaia is excellent at studying and has a great memory.
Studying: Pythomancy and poetry because she either doesn't have the control for a certain branch or no interest in the branch
Interests: Animals, adventure, poetry, magic,
Dislikes: Tactlessness, stupidity, living a normal life
Biography:
Lovedaia is the daughter of a wealthy blacksmith and a innkeeper at Gralimidine though her parents are now retired and have moved to a different city.
Ever since Lovedaia was little, she was obsessed with magic. She kept waiting, with bated breath, for when she would discover her own wonderful magical abilities. When her mother tried to teach her privileged daughter the art of inn keeping, Lovedaia would simply ignore her and butcher her small duties. To instill responsibility, her father attempted to push her to help him clean his tools, she would simply run away until he gave up. Her life was amazing, normal, privileged. She didn’t have a care in the world. Her parents kept her away from the streets, and urged her to stay only near home. Growing up, she only had a few friends, ones made quickly as they passed through the inn, until they left and she forgot them. Lovedaia grew to hate her life; it was dull, boring, and predictable whereas she was lively, talkative, and unpredictable. This life didn’t suit her.

So, when she discovered the tiniest spark of magic beneath her fingertips, she was ecstatic. She had been avoiding her chores, hiding in the attic of the inn and playing around with the old framed portraits that her mother abhorred. Whilst picking up a heavy frame with two hands, she tried to grab her ink well with the other to avoid tipping it. Unable to do so at the same time, she breathed angrily in exasperation and slapped the portrait onto the floor, her fingers splaying in the air like knives. With this frustration, came an electric jolt down her knuckles and the ink well lifted the barest fraction into the air, long enough for her to catch a glimpse of it, before it toppled over onto a painting of a fat old guy with balding hair.

Immediately, she jumped into the air and tumbled down the stairs, shouting for joy with such exuberance that her parents neglected their admonishments. After that, she was sent to the Academy to study to her heart’s content. It was only there that she realized her magic skill was quite shabby and that no matter how hard she tried, she could barely do a thing.
Equipment:
A knife her father made to protect her, though she has no clue how to wield it – it’s the sentiment that counts – and her mother’s favorite golden necklace.

Fun fact: Lovedaia, Lufu and Marden are all female Medieval names. Lufu means love, hence why it is short for Lovedaia.
