He was alarmed by this, not remembering her loathing him this much. He leaned towards her, muttering "The hell is your problem? I don't remember doing anything to you, and if I did it was unintentional and I apologize." The last thing he needed on the upcoming mission was a perpetually enraged Rachel, and he wanted to address this before things got underway.

That would probably make things better between Jacob and Rachel. Especially if they work together.
