I think General freedom could tank a few of those.

If I did enter the MV with a weapon like a 25mm autocannon, I'd probably make it a revolver-type autocannon with an integrated rate-of-fire governor to prevent wasteful ammunition, with the weapon functioning more like an anti-material rifle than as a simple fully-automatic weapon of mass destruction. The trade-off with one of these is that you get a very accurate and very potent weapon, but your ammunition is bulky and heavy, while reloading the weapon is probably a chore. On account of how fast many of the characters in this MV move (and due to a lot of their strange abilities and secondary powers), spraying mindlessly probably just won't cut it.

Plus, I'd be firing high-explosive rounds, so I get a sizable area-of-effect attack to boot.

Though, my character would have to have suitable strength to use this. The recoil would be absolutely savage.

It's easier to use vague terms then knowing the exact caliber of different types of weapons that can get confusing if you don't have a lot of gun knowledge such as myself.

I guess, though I'd flip a massive desk if I saw a character literally tank hundreds of 25mm autocannon rounds without so much as a flesh wound being the end result.

EDIT: Well, unless it was a high-tier character.

Then ok.

You just wait 'till i finish my characters! They're all going to have magic based non-explosive reactive armor on their FUCKING FACES. Nothing too OP, but it can stop a lesser bullet outright and greatly soften the impact of the higher calibers. Not to mention that it increases the chance on the projectile/weapon glancing off outright.

I can't help but wonder what you mean by 'lesser' caliber and a 'higher' caliber.

I did have an idea for dragon scale armor, but would that be like a human wearing armor made out of human? O_o

I guess, since if it's High-tier human skin armor, it can automatically resist nuclear detonations.

That would be very strange.

Hah, maces! Fibre armor and non-newtonian fluids come to save the day! :D

Bullets crush flesh and bone rather than cut it, so you're right on that end.

If someone comes at you with a combat knife, your gear won't save you. Though, I'm unsure if the smart molecules will be able to harden fast enough before the knife pierces, since I think their hardening speed and strength depends on the speed of the object that hits them.

Unsure.

Unless of course they stab you in a space where an armor plate is situated at. Then yeah, you should be fine.

Awesome video.

Yep, that was the one.

Loose. Adjective. "not firmly or tightly fixed in place; detached or able to be detached."Lose. Verb. "be deprived of or cease to have or retain (something)"Fucking English, people. Learn it.

That and they treated plate armor like they do modern tanks, in that certain sections of it are far more armored than other sections. The most armored part of full plate armor was the torso. The rest of the armor was relatively thin. There was this one Youtube video of a guy in full kit running, jumping and even falling off of his horse, yet he still managed to jump to his feet in an instant.

And it didn't need to be especially thick or heavy in order to do its job, which was to stop piercing and slashing attack from swords.

Warhammers, however, pretty much ignored the protective qualities of plate armor.

I do have this odd feeling that post people in Arena RPs perceive plate armor as being completely invulnerable to melee attacks or something.

Mmmmm.... I would actually be very careful with that, as that pretty much gives people free-license to insert whatever they want by ways of building logic-bridges. It would really be for the best if we simply stuck with pre-500 and the hundred or so years around that time-line, that way it would give people a good time-frame to work with and ensure that everyone is on an even playing field more or less.

I second this.

As in, QFT.

To be fair Haz, that ruling pretty much renders the RP's premise, this being a pre-500 AD setting, completely moot.

I don't mean to sound rude but I'm noticing that there's quite a few nations that have some sort of widespread education system. Did that ever happen in the ancient world? I mean, I don't expect everything to be just like it was on Earth but isn't the idea of educating anyone aside from nobles and priests relatively new?

This sounds like a cultural (and legislative) thing, as well as a player's species' method of thinking.

You sort of do have a point.

This single sentence describes everything i hate about sci-fi nation rp's.

I mostly do this because I tend to run nations that don't have the capacity to ship millions of soldiers across galaxies to invade one planet. Plus, people tend to wank their land forces to an unbelievable echelon.

Hence, why I throw rocks at them. That giant mecha you praise just got slammed by 600,000 pounds of ice and iron.

Though, I stopped warring in sci-fi NRPs a long time ago on account of the sheer stupidity of the entire concept. I mean for fuck's sake, you're in space. There are free asteroids, planets, moons, and gas giants all over the place to exploit for resources. Why do I need to take planets from another nation when there is literally free shit everywhere?

Wars in general are normally fought on account of economics, which translates to resources. Those issues cease once you acquire FTL technology.
