Tyler - Baton Rouge/Apartment - Scarlett/Liam

Most everyone was thankful for something to take their minds off what had just occurred, so they were more than willing to play along with Katie's game. On the couch, Adam laughed a little and offered, "So, uh... an animal?" Then, quickly, he snapped his fingers. "Wait, sorry, I'll be more specific. A dog."

Caleb, leaning over the couch with a smile, shook his head. He pointed to Katie's yet-to-be-named kitten. "Definitely a cat."

Off to the side, Tyler found himself relaxing, smiling broadly at his own daughter taking charge to cheer the others up. It was just a game, but it meant more than that, really. Everything felt so much more significant these days, when life expectancy was cut so much shorter. It was why Tyler couldn't really relax completely when two of the people he thought he could count on had just promptly left. Perhaps George just needed some time to calm down, but Scarlett... well, Tyler didn't want her running off as well.

He slipped away to follow her out the front door. He didn't have to go far to find her, for she hadn't gone further than the bottom of the stairs. Tyler paused awkwardly in front of the door, staring down at her and recognising what probably should have been a private moment for the girl. He almost said something, but instead chose to lean against the wall in silence. If Scarlett thought he was watching her to make sure she wouldn't leave, then that was fine by him. He really didn't want her to go, so if he had to come off as domineering in order to assure that, then so be it.
Danny - Cabin - Rob/Alex

He watched as Shannon looked relieved at the amount of support they were receiving. He too was thankful for the outcome, especially so when Alex made the suggestion of splitting the scouts into two. A part of Danny pained at taking these people away from Outpost, but his obligation to Shannon and Emma meant everything at the moment. The compromise was fair... more than fair. It was far better than Danny thought he deserved. Still, when he thought about it, it wasn't about him at all; it was about Emma, and Danny thought that poor girl deserved a lot at the moment.

Quickly after Alex, Chris stepped forward and said, "Me too. I want to... so bad. I can't let that guy go." Nodding, Cody hastily agreed with him.

Danny looked toward Jerry and Lucas, the two scouts he'd known the longest. They both look conflicted, but eventually Jerry said, "I'm not leaving Outpost. Sorry."

Lucas shrugged at that. "I'll go. I mean... it's not forever. I haven't been able to get my mind off what happened at Haywood... I think this is fair. I think it's right."

Realizing she was one of the last to make a decision, Charlie awkwardly touched at her hair. "I... wouldn't be much help to you guys," she said. With a small sigh, the girl reached down and gingerly touched at her leg. "My leg's still a mess. At least in Outpost, I can be on the wall if I have to." With a few awkward glances toward each other, Phineas and Zane eventually mumbled that they'd rather go with Charlie back to Outpost.

With that out of the way, Danny felt like he could finally breathe. He smiled at Shannon, and she smiled right back. It was absolutely ridiculous they were smiling over what was likely a deadly rescue mission, but it was finally a moment where they felt like they were truly doing something. "I'm tired of being a victim," Danny recalled Shannon saying the night before. "I keep having to watch people around me get hurt, and I can't ever do anything about it." It might have been foolish, but this was Shannon finally taking control, unwilling to be a passive member of this world.

They began dividing up the weaponry, giving the bigger share to Jerry's group like Alex requested. There wasn't much to go around, as it was largely the scouts providing the weapons. Danny's group still had the weapons from the safe, but he was harshly reminded that it had been the scouts' property begin with. Still, there was enough for everyone to carry something, excluding Liam. Elliot was eager to get his hands on something, but Richard was in his face at every moment, reminding him of the dangers of guns.

Danny wished they could take more than just a few extras, but it simply wasn't possible. It was with a heavy heart that he handed the last of the ammunition to Charlie, who smiled at him sadly. It was getting late at this point, and the scouts had to get back to Outpost. Jerry offered that Alex take the vehicle, but Danny said they needed it more. They left with little fanfare, but in the silence that followed their leaving, Danny realised that their mission had truly started.

In the common room, Lucas detailed an immediate plan of action. "Taking the trail Enrique took, it'll put him closer to Metairie than to New Orleans. Can't say where he'll go from there, so that's why we need to catch up. There should be a scout vehicle on one of our routes into the city, but Enrique may have... compromised it. Or taken it, even. Either way, we take that route into the city and find a means of transportation as soon as possible."

Danny nodded, agreeing with Lucas. He looked around the room, finding himself met with grim faces and determined expressions. "There's no time to sleep," Danny asked. "Not until we find a vehicle. Everyone ready?"

And so their trek into the city began. To Danny, it almost felt like a scout mission.
Danny - Cabin - Alex/Rob

"Not a woman," Shannon said. "A little girl. And there's no choice for me here... I'm going after her no matter what."

Danny let out a laboured sigh, staring at her. He could feel the tension in the room starting to rise. Shannon alone seemed to hold all the power in the world at the very moment, her very stare making him feel tense and electric. Perhaps Shannon had always been his world, and it had been foolish of him to think for a second that she had truly ever left him. They'd been brought back together not just once, but twice now, as if a magnetic force was pulling them together, forcing them through the cracks left behind by this apocalyptic world.

Danny couldn't possibly deny this force any longer, even as Alex reminded him of Outpost's predicament.

"Okay," Danny said, his voice low. He took a breath, trying to collect himself. "I'll go too." Looking to Alex, he shrugged. "I'd hate to ask, but we're going to have to. There's always the Watchers to defend Outpost, but supplies... Well, I remember when the Scouts consisted of just six damn people." Danny blinked at this memory, feeling as if it was suddenly banging against his chest. Myriah was gone. Reggie was gone. Matt turned out to be the worst of them. This moment-- this decision-- felt like the final time Danny would say goodbye to what had been his home these last six months.

"You and I are gonna have to ask, Alex. With Sylar gone, well... I'd say Luke should be the leader now. Maybe you. Maybe Gerry. That's your decision, anyway." With a look toward Shannon, Danny swallowed the lump in throat. He directed everyone in the room to follow him into the next room where everyone was waiting. Luke saw them first, instantly standing to meet them. He looked tired and worn out, more so than even after Reggie's death. The others looked just about as bad off. Finch, the older man that he was, just looked sick.

"We have some bad news," Danny began. "Enrique didn't release all his hostages. He took one, a girl named Emma. She's not much older than this kid here--" He pointed to James, who had taken to hiding behind Shannon. That Danny called him a kid didn't get a response this time. "Her brother was killed by Thomas... Or Tyler I guess, back in Haywood. I don't want to say that it was our fucking fault, because it was mostly mine, I think." Lucas looked ready to argue, but Danny didn't let him. "I'm indebted to this girl in a way. But, fuck, it's more than that. My friend Shannon and I, we're going after Enrique. We're not dumb, we're not going to rain fire we don't fuckin' have on them, but we're going to find a way."

"All of you, Rob, Finch, my friends from Outpost, you can choose where you go from here. I won't say Emma needs you more than Outpost because it just isn't true, but right now she means everything to us, so it's up to you if you... if you come with us."

Almost immediately, James stepped from behind Shannon. "I'm going!" he yelled, though Danny doubted a kid's presence would do much to convince anyone else. Finch followed soon after, muttering that he wanted to help as well. As they had established back in the other room, both Elliot and Richard wanted to go as well. Danny had to admit that the thought of Elliot being with him made him feel relief.

Soon, it was just the scouts who had to make a decision. "Sylar would want to go after them," Cody muttered, the tone of his voice unclear. Whether he meant that be a reason for them to go or not was beyond Danny.

"I'd feel better if you came back to Outpost," Lucas admitted, looking down at his glasses. He was cradling them, rubbing the lenses with his thumbs. "But... I don't know."
Tyler - Baton Rouge/Apartment - Scarlett/Liam/Katie

George had been counting on the kids to vote his way, so no one was surprised that Liam voted to go get Jacob. However, Katie's vote to stay brought an uncomfortable tension to the situation. Beyond that, Scarlett's vote and her accompanying speech was certainly the final nail in the coffin for George. Already leaning toward letting him go, Caleb, Tina, and Jace all voted to let Jacob go. They then all turned to Tyler expectantly, waiting to see what his vote would be. "Jacob helped save my daughter, so it'd be noble of me to say we go after him." He closed his eyes. "But... that's also why he left. He doesn't trust us. He's scared. And going after him isn't likely to change his mind."

Moving toward the living room windows, Tyler took a peek outside. "I don't know what you're expecting. That we find him in danger, rescue him, and then he trusts us? What do you think this is? This is real life. Grow up, George."

With that, Elyse and Adam hesitantly voted to let Jacob go, leaving George deflated and upset. He nodded, looking like he wanted to argue. "I, uh..." Instead, George went for one of the bedroom doors. "I'm going to look through the supplies we got." When he was gone, Tyler sighed.

Tina looked around the room. "Look, it's been rough. Let's just all... relax for a while, okay?" She looked down at Katie. "... Anything in mind, Katie?"
@Enalais

Alrighty, we'll keep it in mind. Good luck!
Danny - Cabin - Alex

"I don't goddamn know," Danny answered, sighing. He rubbed his hands against his face, eventually lowering them to look at Shannon through his fingers. "No matter what I do, everything just manages to get worse."

Shannon stared at him. James stopped hugging her to go sit down, so Shannon crossed her arms. "Is that what you're trying to tell me? That going after her will just make things worse?"

Danny groaned. "No! I'm just-- Jesus, I don't know, okay? I don't even know why he would have taken Emma. He said he was going to release us all, to keep her is just..." Weird. Creepy. Danny was worried Enrique's motives were on the depraved side of things. "... Maybe he thought we wouldn't find out, but that still doesn't explain much. You said you'd met him before?"

Shannon shook her head. "James and I did. Not Emma. She wasn't with us then."

"Then I guess he just wanted to fuck with us!" That he was swearing in front of James was the last concern on Danny's mind at this point. "You're right, okay? We owe it to her to try and get her back, but you can't ask everyone here to do that, Shannon!" He pointed to Elliot and Richard, who were still standing awkwardly in the room. "First of all, you two are going back--"

Elliot shook his head, and Richard said, "We can't." When Danny asked why not, Richard had to take a moment to answer. "... We don't want to."

Danny glared at them, eventually settling on rolling his eyes. Turning, to Alex, he asked, "Okay, what do you think, then?"
Shannon - Cabin Aftermath

Dazed; Beaten; Demoralized, the shared group of both the scouts and Shannon's friends sought shelter in one of the other Outpost cabins. There, Danny learned of the fate of both his friend Myriah and what had happened in Outpost since his departure. It sounded like chaos to Shannon, and she was harshly reminded of the day Robert's men attacked their former comrades in Haywood. She knew Danny was shaken about the news, but he refused to talk to her about. She had asked him, "Are you going to back?"

"I don't know," was all he would allow himself to say. He and the rest of scouts had much interest in pursuing Enrique any more after that display of brutality, and for that Shannon was thankful. Still, she had to ask them to help in finding James and Emma, who had managed to escape Enrique's grasp. They said they could, but that they would have to return to Outpost before the sun had set.

But that plan was cut short by the arrival of James and two others. They showed up at the doorstep, and Danny looked about ready to jump out of his skin at the sight of them. "Elliot, what the hell?" he asked, practically pushing James aside. The boy ran to hug Shannon, but she couldn't keep her eyes off Danny as his hands moved through the air. Sign language. She had no idea her best friend knew sign language. The commotion brought everyone to the front room to witness Elliot sign something back at Danny. "Jesus--" Danny exclaimed. "Richard, you could have gotten fucking killed."

The man evidently named Richard looked over Danny's shoulder and toward the crowd that had gathered. "It's... really complicated. We--"

"Wait!" James interrupted. "Stop talking about that! They have Emma!" James looked around the room, his eyes on the verge of tears. "When we were running away, they grabbed her. They didn't release her like they did all of you... They took her!"

Danny turned around, his eye's meeting Shannon's. She could see his face falling. Another one gone, he seemed to be thinking. Shannon shook her head at this. "No. No! Ugh--" She made a vexed noise and rubbed at her eyes. "We have to go after them." Danny stepped toward her. She could see the look on his face, the look already telling her that Emma was a lost cause now. She wanted to slap him. "Dan! Don't say it! Don't... even say it! Her brother saved her once, but he's not here any more, so it's up to me now."

"Oh my god," Danny muttered. "And you tell me I put myself in danger."

She was wound up now and not going to stop now. "I'm sick and tired of all of this. You're stupid stupid scouts took that girl's brother away and then you took her away. Fuck that, every single one of you owe her. You owe us. You've done nothing but cultivate monsters and sick them all of us."

The room was silent now. Danny looked the most perturbed, having known Shannon once as someone who rarely swore at all. She didn't know over half the people in the room now, but she hoped her words had gotten to some of them at least. In any case, all she really needed was Danny on her side. She didn't want him to go back to Outpost. She hated that place with all her heart now, even if she had never been there.
Tyler - Baton Rouge/Apartment - Katie/Scarlett/Liam

You wouldn't have done the same. He almost said it, had actually really wanted to say it, but Tyler was self-aware enough to realise that he couldn't possibly justify his actions, especially not to someone who'd been put in a similar situation like people like himself. That day when he tried to explain himself to Jessalyn, what felt like ages ago now, she had rejected everything he had been saying entirely. Some of it had been Lynn's fault, but most of it... Telling her he never condoned the actions of his men-- his monsters-- felt incredibly hollow now. It'd left a bad taste in his mouth, but he had let them use and degrade the women he had truly cared for. Did he truly care for them, if he admitted he could never have done that to his late wife? At what point did doing what he felt was necessary become absolutely unnecessary?

Scarlett was right about one thing however, and that was that it was all in the past now. It was behind him, left in New Orleans. What mattered now was right here in this apartment. Tyler couldn't be entirely sure that he could trust Tina and her friends, but they had saved his life back in the plaza. They'd run into danger in order to protect his daughter, and that meant everything to him. "Right," he said. "It's all behind us."

He looked down at Katie, who didn't look too happy with his declaration. It was his own fault for coddling her, he knew, so it would take some time for her to understand. "Guns aren't bad, Katie." He gently took her hand and stared into her eyes in an attempt to calm her down. "Guns are tools, used by bad people and good people. They can be dangerous, but that's why you need to learn." Katie then mentioned Lauren, and Tyler felt a shiver go down his spine. She was one of his biggest regrets. Another blow dealt to his own daughter.

"I know. But the gun didn't do the job all on its own. It was... It was--" Me. "A bad person. A bad person fired that gun. That's on him. It doesn't change what we-- you need to do." He knew it would take more than just one conversation to make her feel better about it, so he smiled at her. "Just think on it, okay? We can talk about it later." He looked to Scarlett and gestured for three of them to leave the bathroom.

They stepped into the hallway to find Jace come running in from outside the front door. He looked distracted as he passed by them and walked into the living room. "I can't find him outside either," he said.

Tyler moved forward, looking around the room. "What? What's happened?"

Jace looked toward him and sighed. From behind the couch, George said, "Jacob's gone. So is his stuff, so he must have went on his own."

"I'm so sorry," Tina said in the kitchen. "I don't know if you guys were close, but--"

"We weren't close," Tyler said running a hand through his hair. "I'd just met him yesterday, but..." Tyler knew why he had left. He hadn't trusted Tina's group to begin with, but being confronted with someone from Tyler's past must have had him convinced he'd be better off entirely on his own. Jacob was a smart guy, so Tyler wouldn't have been surprised if Jacob had a good idea about Tyler's past based on Berk's words alone. "What happened today must have freaked him out."

"He'll die out there," George said grimly. 'We can't just let him leave."

Tina and Jace shared a look between them. They didn't want to disagree with George outright, Tyler could see. Caleb, on the other hand, had no qualms about this. "But we can't make him stay either," he said. "We could go out there and find him, try to talk him into coming back, but I don't see that working out."

Unfortunately, Tyler had to agree. "He was aware of the dangers outside. For him to leave... he didn't feel safe with us. I don't see how we could possibly convince him--"

"No." George rubbed at his eyes and shook his head. "No, that's... no. It's ridiculous. We should at least try." He then raised his hand. When Tyler asked what he was doing, George stared at him defiantly. "I'm voting. We should have a vote on this. Elyse, the kids, we should all vote. I know we've had a rough day, but I won't have Jacob on my conscience."

Tyler shook his head, but most everyone else seemed unsure what to do. No one was willing to make the next vote.
Chris - Cabin - Pack/Scouts/Hostages

Most of the scouts, needless to say, looked rather shell-shocked from this turn of events. Chris had thought they had a good chance to take Enrique out by surprising him, but once the hostages were brought out, the fighting stopped entirely and everything went downhill from there. Sylar made a declaration of being responsible for the fires, and challenged Enrique to a fight to the death. No one was really sure what to make of it, so no one but Cody made much of a move to say anything about it.

But as the fight went on and it became increasingly clear that Sylar wasn't going to live, the scouts turned restless, shaking their heads and gripping at their weapons tightly. Chris noted that Lucas, for once, looked frazzled and unkempt. Jerry couldn't take his eyes off the fight, whereas Phineas and Zane couldn't keep their eyes off the ground. When Sylar was finally finished, Charlie let out a choked yell, and Cody looked about ready to rush Enrique's group. He raised his weapon, ready to take on Enrique's dare, but Alex made a rush for him in an attempt to stop him. Cody probably would have gotten a shot off, if not for Chris and Charlie yelling at him to stop. He paused long enough to be bowled over by Alex.

Lucas then called out, trying to regain a sense of control over the situation. "The hostages! Let them come with us, and then we'll leave! Not a single shot will be fired!" As if to prove his word, Lucas put down his weapon, laying it on the ground.
Jon - Baton Rouge - Jacob

Jon debated with himself about how far up the road he should go. Past the field of grass was a line of houses one could easily hide in, but they'd still have to cross the street in order to get to them. If Jackson was right about what he saw, he was either way up North, or closer toward where Jon was patrolling. He'd get caught eventually if he was heading up that way, so Jon figured it would be best for him to stick to the area and wait out--

Two loud pops emitted from, well, somewhere. Jon recognised them as gunshots, but he couldn't quite be sure of where they came from. He lifted the radio and spoke into it, hoping Jackson was paying attention. "Hey, Jackal, were you firing off any weapons over there?" It took a minute for Jackson to respond, Jon becoming more annoyed every second of it.

"Uh, no. No firing here. Have you heard something like--"

Jon stopped listening. He threw the radio into the passenger seat and stopped the truck so that he could look behind one of the buildings sitting in front of the field. He could have sworn he saw something moving around there, and the building gave some good cover for anyone exiting from the tall grass. Quickly, but delicately, Jon aimed his rifle out the truck's window, training it on the side of the building. With years of hunting under his belt, it would be easy for Jon to steadily train his weapon on that single point for an extended length of time. Still, if someone was hiding there, they could possibly leave from the other side of the building, sprinting across the street so that they could hide in the line of houses over that way. Jon flickered his gaze between both spots, waiting.

Think I may create a second character for Nathan to meet up with, and then have those two encounter a group.

Sure, that'd be okay.
