Shannon - Inside The Building - Daniel & James

The clip landed in her lap. She had went out of her way to not try and catch it, even though she realized it was a pretty meaningless act of defiance. Her eyes met Daniel's as she stuffed the spare ammo in her pack. "Keep away from the window, James," she said, gathering the energy to lift herself to her feet. The guys were right about having to move quickly, but Shannon felt sluggish and gross. She adjusted her belongings as fast as she could, though it was a monumentally slow process to anyone watching her. She stuffed the police baton in her backpack and shrugged it on. She kept the gun held tightly in her hands.

"Okay then, Daniel." Daniel. It bugged her that this guy's name was Daniel. That was Danny's name, and a childish part of Shannon didn't want anyone else to have it. The man before her simply wasn't her Daniel. "My name's Shannon." She hesitated slightly before putting an arm around James. She was going to have to play being a mother for at least a while. Christ.

"If you... If you fuck us, I'll kill you." It probably wasn't the time to swear, but Shannon was in no mood for niceties. "Just get us out of here."
Shannon - Inside the Building - Daniel & James

It took a concentrated effort to remain calm, even though the immediate danger had passed. She tried to stand, to put up a stronger front in front of this stranger, but her exhaustion had finally caught up with her. She sniffed, leaning her head back against the wall. Her eyes closed, she listened to the man talk some nonsense about safety. She shook her head without thinking, starting to become a bit confused. What was this guy talking about?

"Are you not with those people outside?" she managed to ask. She opened her eyes, finally taking in the man standing before her. He was certainly older than she was. He looked tall, handsome, and fit. He seemed to be studying her intently, almost judging her. Not in a rude way, but in a way a scientist would examine a formula. He looked a little rough around the edges, but there was something about his poise and demeanor that made Shannon feel slightly more at ease.
Dirk gave Phantom a confused look. He wasn't exactly sure what the hero was talking about when he said earthly elements. "It's fine," he said, shrugging. He watched Phantom grab his arm and found himself smirking at the green energy that suddenly appeared. He'd been flown around before and it had been pretty fun then. One of guys in the old group knew how to fly. Sandra Lynn, the girl who once called herself "Red Jenny", had a red hot passion for justice matched only by the flames she could conjure. Dirk remembered her now, in this moment, as she once had been. Red Jenny was always throwing herself into danger. She would do whatever possible to catch the bad guy or save whoever was in need. If the girl was here today, she would have flown into the quarantine without hesitation, burning whomever stood in her way.

Dirk missed her.

He closed his eyes and nodded. "I'm ready, Phantom."
There was shouting from the group below, but the return fire drowned out whatever they were saying. Shannon tried to poke her head out, but a shot hit unbroken glass and scattered shards around her. Shannon ducked out of sight and cradled her gun.

Shots continued to rain above her, bringing an overwhelming sense of dread upon Shannon. Her pulse was quickening, her breath growing more haggard. A strange mildew smell became apparent, something Shannon hadn't noticed moments before. This office smelled rotten. It was rotten and abandoned just like everything else.

Shannon could feel the world crashing down on her. She was going to die here.

There was another shout, this one far more clear and sounding like it came from directly below the window. The man wanted to resolve this peacefully, though Shannon doubted he was being sincere. Still, what other choice did she have? She didn't have the ammo or the skill to take them all out. She was about to yell back when a boom grabbed her attention. She spun her head around to find a man pointing a gun at her. Without thinking, Shannon yelped and pointed her pistol back at him. Her hands were shaking - No, her whole body was shaking - and she couldn't aim in this condition, but that thought couldn't penetrate the booming inside her head.

She sat like this for a moment, waiting for the man to shoot. She wasn't putting her gun down, after all. She closed her eyes for just a moment and opened them to see James come up the stairs behind the man. She stared dumbly at the boy, confused by what he was saying. She was hardly old enough to even possibly be his mother. Still... She certainly looked haggard enough to be a bit older.

She watched the man react by by putting away his weapon. She managed to lower her own, relief washing over her. Her body still shaking, Shannon could only utter a single word: "Please."

May I join?

You should be able to :D
Shannon Greene & James Feryana - Fighting Walkers on the Street

She let go of James once he got the idea. She tucked the police baton in her pants and pumped her feet, her eyes fixated on the road ahead. She didn't dare look back, even to check on James, but a small cry of "ow" made her skid to a stop and spin around. To her dismay, James had tripped. Her eyes darted from the approaching monsters, to the fallen James, and back to the monsters again. A lump caught in Shannon's throat and for a split-second, her vision doubled. James became Lexi, and then he became Danny. One by one, Shannon saw so many of the people that had disappeared from her life. No!

Shouting, Shannon ran toward James and pulled out her gun. By the time she reached him, two walkers were practically on top of him. Shannon lifted her pistol and shot the first one in the head, its brain matter splattering all over the second walker. Crouching low beside James, Shannon aimed her pistol at the second walker and fired again, her shot managing only to clip the walker's ear. It was undeterred by the attack. It leaned down, placing a hand on Jame's leg and moaning wildly. Shannon cursed as she jumped into a shove and smashed into the walker. Its body wobbled on crouched legs and fell over backwards, almost comically. Dropping her gun, Shannon took her knife in both hands and plunged it into the monster's head.

"Oh my god," Shannon managed to say between deep breaths. She hastily picked up her gun. "Are you okay? We have to keep running." She held out a hand.
Dirk looked from the destroyed barricade to the pizza box still in his hands. Blinking, he closed the lid and tucked the box under his arm. Hey, maybe Richard would be hungry? Turning to Phantom, Dirk said, "Thanks, really, but if things get crazy in there, then don't worry abou' savin' your own skin before you go worryin' about mine."

He leaned out from the alleyway, his eyes searching for anyone still conscious. "That was awesome, Cheese Wiz, but I have to ask our new friend Phantom here..." Dirk could sense life forms rapidly approaching their position. That was some quick backup. "Can you fly me into the quarantine? My friend lives in an apartment building off of that big Tensen road. The building's called Clackson, or somethin'." Dirk paused to think, his eyes looking upward as he concentrated. "It's by the strip mall."
Shannon Greene & James Feryana - Walking the Streets

Shannon saw it before James pointed it out to her. She had been on high alert, her eyes fixating rapidly on the slightest movement in the area. A torn piece of paper, a plastic bag, and now a monster. She kept her eyes on the slow-moving creature, her right hand reaching behind her. With a grace benefited by practice, Shannon smoothly pulled out her knife from its backpack pocket. "Don't be scared," she whispered, handing James the police baton. Shannon wouldn't need it for just one guy. "Just keep your voice down."

She walked toward the monster, her stride quick and confident. Her eyes darted from side to side to check if there were more around, but the coast appeared to be clear. As the 'walker' realized she was there, it turned on her, its glassy-eyed gaze staring right through her. When she was steps away from the creature, it made a sort of hissing noise and lunged toward her. Gritting her teeth, Shannon's arm plunged upward, the knife she was holding sliding smoothly into the walker's head. It died quickly, its body going limp. With a grunt, Shannon pulled out her knife and wiped it on her jacket. The walker fell at her feet.

Turning around, Shannon gave James a grin. See? She could do this. "Wait, James..." Shannon's grin died on her face as she saw more monsters appear behind James, coming from the road they had just turned off of. One, two, three... Shit! Shannon started running toward James. "Get back," she said, running up to him and grabbing her police baton back. "Get back!" She started pulling on James' arm, wanting to put as much difference between her and them. Her face grim, Shannon watched as the monsters continued to pour out on to the street. "This is a time to run."
"Uh, wha' she said," Dirk said, giving Alice a sidelong look. It was one of many that he anticipated the girl would receive from him. It was becoming quite clear she was a little odd, or at least had an interesting sense of humor. "I think."

Looking back toward the newcomer, Dirk found himself a little self-conscious. The hero had blazing red hair and was built like an ox. Compared to him, Dirk was like a tub of vanilla pudding. Clearing his throat, he said, "Anyway, I'm Conduit, an' this is... Cheese Wiz." A sudden worry came upon Dirk that the man before them was acting as a guard for the quarantine. It would make sense that some heroes would be hired to help guard the blockades and this guy looked tough enough to be one of those kinds of heroes. Even if he hadn't seemed aggressive when he had approached them, Dirk couldn't take any chances. With grim determination, his eyes locked on the redhead. "There's a friend of mine trapped in there an' I am goin' to get into this quarantine no matter what."
