Shows I've been watching:

You couldn't follow FMA Brotherhood? Sure, it starts out right in the middle of something, but IIRC they explain things all the time in that show.

And you don't need to watch the first one. Brotherhood is a remake. But hell, maybe you should go give that one a try if you think it will help.

Golly gee, I'm really having trouble imagining how someone would want to turn off Brotherhood. Hard to empathize.

I don't blame you for quitting on Trigun. I had the same problem as you combined with not actually finding the characters compelling enough to push through it. Plus it was 2goofy4me.

Stein's Gate is meant to be very good, Awson, as is Cowboy Bebop. Not seen them myself but I hear good things.

Stein's Gate and Monster are floating at the top of my should-watch list.

And of course I've seen Cowboy Bebop. I've seen a good chunk of the good mainsteam anime out there:

There's a lot of bad things that could be said about the last two, but at least the action was good, yo.

I know that there are plenty of shows out there that I'll like, but I know there's also a sea of shows I won't. It's same fucking thing with American television. I've seen the good ones: Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead...

But then there's the whole level of tier two ones that are hit and miss. You remember the one you didn't like and then you see it on a list of a bunch of other ones and then you start making assumptions.

I know that I should check out Dexter and True Blood and Doctor Who and Downton Abbey and Sherlock and Supernatural and Sons of Anarchy and idfk... Teen Wolf!?

And I actually do like a couple of those but SOA is boring and Supernatural is fucking ridiculous so I guess maybe I don't need to check out those other things because y'know whatever.

The difference being that I've actually checked out a bunch of anime, but still only like a few.

All this anime talk has made me finally watch Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, so far so good. Anyone watch it?

Gungrave, Ghost in the Shell, Monster, Baccano!, Darker than Black and Sengoku Basara(Although it's basically the Over the Top Ridiculousness but none of the dumb jokes)

Gungrave has always been on my maybe list. And you know what? I might just watch it because of this. The fact that no one talks about it is what probably stopped me from checking it out sooner.

I've seen most of Ghost in the Shell. I never got enamored with it but it is a really good anime.

I have not checked out Baccano.

I know Monster is good. And I've seen a few episodes of it. I stopped watching after he saved the sister and then she ran away from her protector for no good reason. "this is going to be a whole thing isn't it?" I thought. I have to continue this one. I know that.

Darker than Black might be that show I tried to watch but felt the setting was too much. Could try again.

And I haven't heard of the last one.
