It's basically just semantics for the rest of us. Those sprites could easily be called Chibi-Mon. Would you have a problem then?

And I just took a glance at some info about Moe. What I gathered is that there's anything but a concrete definition for it. The root word can mean "budding," and then it's debatable after that.

What I personally always thought moe was was just a certain way to draw the stupid face of female anime characters.
