The school of opportunities

RP Pad

XXX

This will be a different kind of RP. Your only goal is to survive.

You will be in control of an OC enrolled in Disney Institute for Magical Training. A secret school that exists to help students expand in their various magical/paranormal abilities. Although most of the students are friendly, there are secrets in this school that teachers will go to great lengths to keep hidden.

Your job is to survive, and to help fellow students survive, while dark horrors unravel themselves around you and your classmates.

The student body will consist of heroes from Disney movies, the teachers staff will consist of Disney villains that you do not want to get involved with. Events in the school will occur corresponding to what occurred in the Disney movies. But since I'm a jerk, I'll make sure that not all stories have a happy ending.

Rules:

1. Please be active in both RP and OOC thread. I know many of you have to juggle school, a job, and a personal life, as long as you contact me or mention in the OOC that you won't be posting for awhile, you won't be kicked from the RP. The requirement for posting in the RP thread is 3 posts a week before being considered inactive.

2. Romance is permitted. Personally, I dislike romance RPs and fanfictions. Since this is a Disney RP, however, it would be very hypocritical for me not to allow it. Fair warning: I dislike romance, if you make it happen, I promise I will do my best to kill your character. XD

3. OCs may not have a successful romances with Disney NPCS, but you can still try. I'm sure some of you may want your OC in a relationship with your favorite Disney character, but I can't allow it. Your OC may have crushes on the Disney characters, but you can't get them to successfully fall in love with you. (Unless we kill off their original love interest. That's up for debate under certain circumstances.)

4. You must ask if you plan on controlling a Disney NPC. I have many plans for several of the Disney characters. To make sure nothing conflicts, I'd like you to ask permission before you use a Disney character. I'm very relaxed with this rule, I'll say yes 9/10 times as long as you ask on the OOC thread or message me.

5. Be respectful.

Setting

Hidden in the Appalachian Mountain ranges of North America, secret schools exists to help train gifted teenagers. There are thirteen schools on the mountain ranges, each built spiraling away from the first, acting as a shield for the secrets that lie deep within the mountain range. You are enrolled in the newest, and outermost, school. It has the lowest student enrollment, and is the thirteenth school so far to be built. Being the newest school, the staff have more authority to "experiment" various teaching methods with the students.

Note: you are allowed to reserve an approved disney character as your main character

Accepted Students/Teachers:

Story Arcs:

(Arc 2 begins on page 7 on the OC thread)

Primary Ability: A primary ability is the talent your character is most skilled with. Although students may study every type of magic, there are certain abilities that students excel at. For instance, Jack frost's primary would be ice power, while Tinkerbell's would be flight/wind ability.

Preferred Magic type: This is the magic that the student is studying/uses. There are many types of magic. (Feel free to create one and add it to your OC) The three primary abilities are blood magic, elemental magic, and chaotic magic. (Here's a reference of magic if you'd like.)
Commandment I: A Perfect Character is a Boring Character. Your character is strong, charismatic, gentle, loving, always wants to be the hero, and is the type of guy that everyone wants to be. STOP. RIGHT. THERE. If this character is everything we want to be, what's left for us to know? Why would we want to follow his story? He's already perfect. Think of every character you know, point out their flaws. They're not perfect, why is that? Because a good character has a good struggle. We want underdogs, underdogs that are expected to fail so that we can root for them. We want someone that has to work hard and fail bad when shit goes down. They can't win every time, that's repetitive and boring. Bad guys come, good guy fights, good guy wins. Too genetic, too obvious, and there's no point in hearing he story.

Now try this: Bad guys show up. Good guy comes and gets his ass kicked. Bad guys cripple him, kill his dog, and get away.

Losers. We want to see losers struggling to fight. Knights in shining armor are unrealistic, because shining armor only implies they've never been in battle.

"But what if I want my character to be a strong hero?"

Even Gods have their flaws. (Serious flaws too, have you looked into Greek mythology?) I can't create a struggle for each type of character you'd like.(That would take too long) Just remember that with great power, comes greater collateral/psychological damage. Even heroes have weaknesses. Make them hate themselves, make them overly attached to someone, make something stand out. Which brings me to my next commandant.

Commandment ll: For the love of God, give them a personality. She's shy, but adventurous. She's a jerk, but has a heart of gold. She doesn't fit in, but loves making new friends. She's a bitch, but wants love. See the pattern? Because I don't.

YOUR CHARACTER IS NOT AND SHOULD NOT BE EVERYTHING.

"But I want people to like my character, so I want her to have a little of everything"

OCs are like real life people. (Shits about to get deep). Each character has distinctive personalities that separate them from everyone else. One does not satisfy everyone's taste, instead of being very flavorful, one flavor must be chosen. Because each person is a different taste, and no one likes tasting the same flavor all the time. (That sounded perverted)

Choose one single trait, ANY trait, and stick with it. "But my character is more complicated." Honey, they all are, just stick to a single trait.

I like to go with the inner person outer person rule. The outer person is the personality they show to the world. The inner person is WHY the outer person exists.

In order, the outer person may be: hot headed, attention hog, slutty, quiet, or adventures.

While the inner person may be: Unsure how to make people like him, doesn't like being ignored, wants to prove to her parents that they failed, abused as a child an unsure what to speak about, or never knew how wonderful life was until they left home.

Y'see people are like onions, there are many layers to all of us. We only ever see the outer layer, but the inner layers are what made the outer layer grow.

Commandment III: Just because their life is shitty, it doesn't mean we should feel sorry for them. Just because your character's parents died in a fire, on their birthday, after they left a letter saying how much they hate their kid, it doesn't mean we will instantly like the character. Nobody likes complainers, nobody likes whiners. Life is a tragedy, but pity is not something g we should give all the time. And sulking is not how we should live all the time.

It's alright if a tragedy makes your character behave a certain way, (like the onion advice I mentioned) but your entire character can't revolve around a single tragedy. "I'm going to betray all my friends, family and pets because I have a debt of twenty dollars to pay." Don't blow tragedies out of proportion.
@Nehelenia Nessa approved

I had surprise work yesterday, so I didn't post the RP. I'll post the RP thread today and have the first story post once I've written it out.

Also, please post links of your pictures next to your picture. I like that this site allows the posting of images, but artists deserve to be recognized for their hard work. As you've noticed, when I post the character on the first post, I can't get the picture in because I'm only copying and pasting what the quote allows me to do. Image bb codes don't go through, so please paste a link to the artist's picture.
Yes, teachers are also adoptables. Since I'm trying to make the teachers disney villains, I may have a few villains reserved for certain story arcs. You do not need to have an OC to play this RP, npcs are allowed to be your main characters.
@Biohazard Allison Quintaine is approved. Summoning creatures sounds very interesting.

To everyone else, keep in mind that I'm very relaxed with the powers you come up with. Although I gave three basic powers/magics, it's ultimately up to you.

Also, with all these OCs, please feel free to adopt an npc. Don't be afraid if you feel you can't get their characters right. We aren't the original writers, and since this is a contemporary/fantasy world, the disney characters aren't really expected to be perfectly the same as the movies.
Feel free to post an OC, there are two so far. One more and I think I'll start tomorrow. (Yesterday the site was down, so I couldn't start)
Yeah, I plan on making maleficent the principal. Other characters are npcs that the players are allowed to control
Anyone still interested?
