I wanted more than what the runescape community could provide, so I looked up "roleplaying forum" and the guild was the first link. I joined, lurked a bit, and joined my first roleplay. It was very attack-on-titan-esque, the last city on the edge of nowhere. We were all defenders of the last bastion of civilization. I was some weaboo angel thing if I remember correctly. After that roleplay fizzled out I joined another one where everyone was magical sentient animals. I was a fox. I liked roleplaying because at the time, I was in a dark point in my life and writing helped. My self-image was built on perceiving myself as intelligent, and what is more intelligent than a good writer?This was all about 6 years ago. I later found IRC and stuck around there, making friends as I went. By the time I had become an IRC regular, I had stopped posting on the guild, only visiting the site to access the mibbit client. After a brief stint on GAIA Online (Again, don't judge. We've all done things we regret) and tried roleplaying there for a while. Eventually around 09 I came back due to a friend in IRC asking me to join a roleplay, some scifi colonization thing. While waiting inbetween posts, I found the Off-Topic forum (This was before spam even existed, mind you), and fell in with that crowd. Ultimate523, Zoec, Azarthes, Dlayeth and others. I quickly became a regular to those dens of silliness and quirky humor. I stuck around after the separation of spam and forum games from off-topic, and have been a regular in spam ever since. What appeals to me about spam is the fact that I feel connected to a lot of the people here - though now I feel less connected, especially now that a lot of communication with those people has moved to off-site mediums.What do I do other than roleplay/spam? Well, apparently the only other facet of my personality is my sexuality according to some sources, so there's that.My interest is in computers. I'm heading off in august to study computer science at NYU. Should be interesting! I also like linguistic and languages, I'm trying to fit in some classes where I can test those waters as well. Two years ago I was an exchange student to Belgium, and lived with Beglian families and got the experience of a lifetime. I know speak fluent French. My current goal is to make myself start studying Italian in my free time - it's pretty fun from what little I've taught myself.Well, hopefully this helped some of you get to know me better. I'm just a nub after all Edit: Oh snap I forgot to answer why I chose my usernameWell, my first username was Yondaime. I was a narutard back when I first joined.I later had my name changed to Sora, which is what most people know me as now. The reason I changed it was to merge my two guild identities - on IRC I had been going as Sora for some time, and was getting tired of being called Yondaime. Plus Sora was easier to type. Plus Sora wasn't /quite/ as shameful as Yondaime was.(The evolution of my irc handle is a whole other story in and of itself. I'll not share it for now.)When the guild fell, I saw an opportunity to turn over a new leaf, so I chose a more self-series handle: Alex. People still call me Sora, and that's fine. I still respond to that anyways.I like to believe there's a lot of power in a name - someday I'll be an . Warning: Oglaf link that is actually safe for work.Edit 2: Adding to things that interest me: Paradox games are amazing. You've probably seen my 4 aborted attempts at doing AARs of Crusader Kings. Grand Strategy games like that have done wonders for my geography skills. Which is also a fun thing. I almost won my state geography bee when I was in middle school!Cartography is a fun thing I sometimes do, though I'm not horribly good at it. I mostly stand on the shoulder of giants.
