ahh tut tut...

Lethe's response cut off Ekra before she could ask her question. Maryev couldn't have responded to her.

"If you did not know who or what I was, then that means you didnโ€™t know who anyone was and this whole chosen by a Goddess nonsense is exactly that."

Also-- Lethe never said she didn't know what he was out loud.
Aaaalrighty. I'm going to be gone for the next several days as I drive cross-country and get settled into my new space, so until then...

Don't get too crazy. Play nice. Share your toys. And don't eat too much junk food.
Zephyrusโ€™ response was met with hesitation as Felicia realized this was the first time she had ever met a Shiekah warrior. The thought of experiencing new things, going on amazing adventures, daring sword fights, magic spells, adrenalin coursing through oneโ€™s veins, the thrill, the excitementโ€ฆ she recoiled. If this was what she had to do in order to do the right thing, she wasnโ€™t sure she wanted to be โ€˜greatโ€™. โ€˜Goodโ€™ was good enough for her.

For the present her mind remained unchanged, however; if either of those children went, bless their parents, she would take it upon herself to make sure they were safe. It was comforting to hear the Shiekah take such a noble oath, although whether or not he would follow through remained to be seen. Even "honorable" men were capable of dishonorable deeds, after all.

โ€œThank you,โ€ Felicia nodded, โ€œMy name is Felicia Wolfsfield.โ€

It was at this point that the voice of the unpleasant man who had reprimanded Jira quieted the crowd. All chatter ceased beneath his loud, boisterous sermon, during which he hardly paused for breath. He seemed to have been waiting quite a while for this opportunity to unleash his massively unpopular opinion on them all.

Felicia was in shock. Was he really defending an enemy of Hyrule so ruthless and infamous? Not being one that was easily upset, she grit her teeth. Evil creatures flocked to the Ganondorf. The wolfos, which had terrorized her village for as long as she could remember, were among the armies of Ganondorf back in the days of the legendary Hero. She knew those creatures. She had peered into their eyes and there was goodness there. Only hatred and evilโ€ฆ. This man was off his rocker. His conspiracy theory was so insane she couldnโ€™t even put her frustration into words. Luckily there were others more articulately gifted that quickly shot him down. The blacksmith was the first to speak up.

"Ganondorf doesn't care for loyalty, Darknut,โ€ he glared, evoking a gasp from Felicia and a few others at the sudden revelation, โ€œgo with him and you'll be just another one of his pawns, his minions. I can't force you into anything but if you insist on siding against us I suggest you leave now."

A Darknut. Felicia had only ever heard stories of such things. They were canine-like men with unmatched swordsmanshipโ€”and devoted servants of Ganondorf. She had heard that they were extremely powerful and very tall in stature. Roughly seven feet was what she had heard, but, looking at the taller of the two men that were completely covered in heavy armor, she slowly began to realize he must be one too.

"Well, you can't expect everyone to have the same ideas,โ€ the other said in a much more agreeable tone as he removed his helmet to reveal a frightening sight. Felicia scarcely heard a thing he said. She could only stare. She couldnโ€™t decide what was more menacing, to be honestโ€”the emotionless helmet or the face of the monster itself. Her heart was racing. Perhaps this adventure was simply too big for her. Perhaps she should notify the guardsโ€ฆ? If the shorter one really was an adversary of Ganondorf, then he definitely wasnโ€™t an ally, was he? But then why was he here?

โ€œI for one am all for deposing this king of darkness. Naturally, Frore stands behind me," Cain said frankly, coming forward, "Where I come from there are no Hylians or Sheikah or anyone, but there are legends of Ganondorf. He is infamous even in our realm for his incredible, insidious power. If he is really gearing up for war, I will oppose him."

"Yeah, Mister, you believe your stories and go talk to him, we'll believe ours," the masked child chimed in, "I just know he wrecked the Forest Temple a long time ago."
That voiceโ€ฆ that armorโ€ฆ and that rotten attitude. How did I not see it before? A Darknut.

Lethe curled her lip in disgust, moving forward. If Lethe was anything but obnoxious, one could definitely say she was brave. Hovering with her tiny chest out and arms on her hips, she stared long and hard at Maryev. The others voiced their opinions and Lethe silently fumed. Eventually she shut her eyes and even tried counting, but by the time the Skull Kid had finished....

โ€œEnough of this blasphemous nonsense!โ€ she shrieked. Indeed, it was incredibly weird to see two Darknuts standing before her on such a holy mission as thisโ€”and all the weirder that one seemed to be unbelievably open-minded and sympathetic towards Hylians-- something that was completely unheard of as far as she knew (which was pretty darn far).

Addressing Maryev, Lethe growled, โ€œIf you are of the opinion that revenge is what the Dark King deserves then feel free to go to his aid. He is well on his way and Iโ€™m sure he would love to add another insect to his filthy swarm.

โ€œI donโ€™t have time for a debate about the nature of evil, you big idiot. The world is ending! Why is it that those who arenโ€™t even of this world have been the quickest to decide whether or not they wish to defend it? Now is the time to stay or go. We have much to do and little time.โ€

Griz, who had of course been silent as usual in the face of Archer's advances, stoically stepped forward-- their decision made.
Alright then...

Just waiting on Arek and RB now.
The RP is still young and, because it's an RP, it's not going to read like a book.

The fact that this is a written medium doesn't support the "showing and not telling" sort of approach very well-- especially because this is a roleplay and nobody else knows your character very well. This is especially true now because we just started. If Vei does something that doesn't make sense, people are going to get confused and frustrated. You don't need to explain every little thing they do-- just be more clear and don't skimp for the sake of trying to make things more flowy for the roleplay as a whole.

Like I said, this isnโ€™t a book. Itโ€™s more like a combination of stories wherein our characters are the main characters of their own individual stories. Of course, we have to work as a team as well and know when certain things are appropriate-- but that more goes for actions and dialogue. Internal dialogue/thought progression for every character shouldn't be seen as a bad thing in a role-play (unless it's being used in ridiculously copious amounts). We literally just saw this happen when Angus pointed out Maryev being a Darknut but didn't explain how he figured it out. It's not just for the sake of the story-- it's also for the sake of the players.

Not explaining why because everyone else is seems like a poor excuse to me. If the information being presented to Vei is uninteresting to her, say so and tell us why. Otherwise it just sounds like it's all uninteresting to you, the player. In which case how about you just insult us to our faces next time and keep the drama out of my IC?

In case anyone else needs clarification, this RP isn't ALL about fighting monsters and PvP. If you haven't caught onto that by now and that's what you've been waiting for, sorry to have deceived you, I guess?
I'm pretty sure Lethe made it perfectly clear that she would answer her questions once everyone was gathered. Or, if you want exact words:

"My first task from the Goddess is to gather you all together and Iโ€™m on a tight schedule. I donโ€™t have time to give you all the full spiel before I can tell you all what must be done. Help me find those who I am looking for and then I will tell you all you wish to know. If that deal does not satisfy your terms, then feel free to walk away."

That's fine if that's Vei's attitude, but that's the kind of stuff you should include in your post. What's she thinking? Surely she must be considering whether or not to stay or go? I mean, unless it takes a lot to get her excited about anything, Vei DID, just that morning, encounter a talking shadow, see a Chilfos turned human, and nearly get her nose singed by a flaming fairy (fairies being a rare thing to see as it is). And now there are two monsters (ie darknuts) standing right in front of her--one of which is friggin 8 feet tall. At the very least one would think she may be considering the idea that those "childish" stories were in fact true. Or that she's being asked to do something dangerous. If nothing else, the aura of the shadow temple (which I described very carefully a few posts back) should be keeping her plenty awake. It's not exactly a relaxing feeling.

Basically I would like to see her as a character be more engaged. Heck, if she seriously feels like sleeping right now-- that's fine. Just tell us a little more about why, you know?
@Gecko: "Bad stuff is going down" isn't all that Lethe said.

NOW would be Vei's chance to ask Lethe those questions. For now it's only natural that everyone would debate amongst themselves. People don't exactly just say "ok, tell me more" when someone asks them to participate in something that could very well kill them. Besides, if anyone knows anything about the legends of the Hero of Time, they should have a general idea.
@Ops: Well... NObody was walking around during Ganondorf's tyranny. That was CENTURIES ago. But yes, different versions of the legend have definitely circulated. Like any huge historical event, however, some stone cold facts remain that you simply can't deny: tons of people died, the Goron race was nearly wiped out, the Gerudo revolted against their king, and Ganondorf was the main culprit. Nonetheless, it wasn't really Magus to whom I was referring when it comes to bored, deprecated reactions.

@RBY: Like I told Ops-- it's been centuries. Judging by how disconnected from the rest of the land the Skull Kids have always seemed to be, Ekra would likely know only the basics but not the full extent of the damage Ganondorf did (or supposedly did, given inevitable exaggerations). At most, she would know whatever version of the story the Kokiri came to know.
The most infamous/powerful mass murder/madman/dictator is supposedly coming back and everyone there is expected to stop him? Old news. Yawn. Snooze fest. Some guy is actually coming to the defense of said mass murderer? Double yawn.
Plot twist: it's actually an onion.
