Give folks some time to post. I might give two or three days between each of my own posts depending on how things are going.

If you want, Alice could have spotted Hez putting up the closed sign and have her ask what's going on.
The alarms from Lin’s chalkboard monitor gradually grew so intense that the shrill noise could have woken the dead. She struggled to map each new location as it appeared. All Hez could do was watch in bewildered curiosity.

“Nnnnngh, there’s way more negative locations than usual! Where the heck are the new Oneiros when you need them the most!?” she moaned, and then paused. “Wait a minute… This doesn’t look right… There are some new spots as usual, especially these three, but… Is this even possible?”

About three smaller spots appeared to have their connections to Remniche in a serious jumble, represented by the ‘strings’ connecting them to the main city suddenly becoming snarled and twisted among each other. Then to make things worse, the three spots threatened to engulf each other and fuse into one huge negative hotspot.

“No way!! Hez, did you see that!? They’re fusing!! The psyches of three people are melding into one!! Gyaah, this is terrible!!” Lin panicked and raced all around the museum in a cartoonish flurry. “Why is this happening!? I know we’ve had an influx of bad locations recently, but now they’re beginning to mutate!? This warrants an immediate investigation!! Get off your butt and get ready, Hez! We’re heading into a lion’s den cramped with venomous snakes!”

Hez was bewildered by her partner’s erratic behavior, but wasn’t too surprised by it. Compared to the calmer and level-headed Hez, Lin could erupt into an energetic frenzy like this at a moment’s notice. She wasn’t really sure what to do to ‘get ready’ for such an unexpected venture.

Lin skidded to a stop to take a quick peek at the museum’s stairs. “Ah, a visitor! Bad timing! Hez, put up the closed sign before we have people bugging us! Hurry it up!”

Hez frowned nervously and twiddled her fingers before heading to the janitor's closet to find the sign in question.
New question; are these locations all supposed to be based on a PC's mind? Or could it also be someone random? I figure if it's a PC's location, then that PC would probably have to be the one to handle how the encounter plays out.

They're based on the dreamers' psyche, but if it's too hard for us to investigate each others' self-made dungeons, we can always base these dungeons on random people. The museum that Hez and Lin manage could have artifacts based on these random people.

I had a brainstorm this morning that some dreamers do manifest in Vivi-Dream, but only as bad locations and not as Oneiros. For some reason, they aren't able to manifest as Oneiros. This can help us create dungeons without restricting each other, as well as explain the in-story influx of negative locations and monsters - because there are too many people in Vivi-Dream creating bad locations, and a critical shortage of Oneiros to deal with them.
Compared to all of the changes I made last night, a character change this early on is no big deal.
Some questions were PM'ed to me that required public answers.

So assuming this all works like an encounter, I assume anyone that's not partying with you has to essentially run their own adventure? For instance, if me and two others joined up and decided to investigate some strange fantasy zone, it would be up to us to decide how it goes along, yeah? In which case, I assume we should stick to having it be individual artifacts about some random nutter rather than hints at the 'plot'. Well, you could let us investigate plot important places, but you would either have to provide one person with something relevant to present at the end, or just allow us to make stuff up, which would take the story out of your hands a little.

That sounds about right. I'll handle anything about the 'plot' later and give you guys the heads up as to what I'm hinting towards in story (read below for some prelim ideas). For now, yes, we would form parties D&D style and investigate different areas to find artifacts related to one character's history, thus cleansing the location. For now, I want us to focus on character development and making our characters closer to each other in preparation for the finale. So you and a fellow RP'er or two or three or whatever can figure out what you guys want to investigate, while I would do the same with different RP'ers. From the number of characters we have, there may need to be two or three parties going at once. We might repeat this process a few times as long as the investigations are kept short, or we could expand this concept into finding multiple artifacts in one location to save time.

Yes, these separate investigations will involve taking some of the story out of my hands, but I will monitor what's going on via the compilation and raise any concerns as I see them.

By the way, how do physical matters work in Vivi-Dream, anyway? Are Oneiros capable of feeling pain, losing limbs, bleeding and even dying? Or is that all handwaved by it just being a dream? Assuming an Oneiros could be killed by a monster, is it permanent, or does it just do something like making the dreamer wake up in a cold sweat and just having to go to sleep again to put the Oneiros back in the Vivi-Dream?

I'm not fond of the whole 'die in the dream, die in the real world' concept, so I propose that while Oneiros can feel pain and bleed like in real life, if a monster 'kills' them during a battle, the Oneiros is 'kicked out' of Vivi-Dream and the dreamer wakes up from a horrible nightmare. They could go back to sleep and re-enter Vivi-Dream, but they would have to restart at Remniche, leaving the rest of the party to handle the monsters. If this happens to all of the party members, the mission is a failure and another group would need to handle the monsters before the location can corrupt Vivi-Dream entirely.

Yes, I've thought of what happens to a 'killed' Oneiros if the person is in a coma, since they can't wake up from their nightmare. Those who are comatose would immediately restart at Remniche rather than awakening, but they need some time to heal their injuries and get over the shock of 'dying', thus they wouldn't be able to immediately re-adventure. As the story progresses, I'll have Lin explain these facts to your characters and have her distribute information pamphlets to those she and Hez won't meet right away.

You could think of this whole setup as an MMO, with dead party members reloading in the capital city. In fact, I hope to lean Vivi-Dream towards a secret nanomachine program that interconnects people's brains much like how the Internet connects computers. The negative emotions would be equivalent to viruses, and the Oneiros would function like anti-virus programs. If the viruses in Vivi-Dream aren't repaired, the entire network would be infected, and that would harm everyone's brains directly.
Sorry if things didn't work out for you. I hope for the best in your future RPing.

After some PMing and brainstorming, I've updated the first post with a more tightened storyline and adjusted the rules a bit. Please review the first post for these updates.

If you guys have anything you wish to add or question, please let me know before we get things underway. To be honest, I just made up this storyline during the weekend and it needs serious polishing. Instead of a vague adventure story with little conclusion in sight, I've made it so Vivi-Dream is suffering from an excess of negative locations that could affect the dreamers in the real world via mental illnesses or personality disorders should these adventures not be undertaken. Any thoughts or concerns with this? I need to work on the wording of this outline as well so it's not confusing, but I think this is more concise than before.

EDIT: *wipes brow* Phew. I'm done editing the first post for tonight, so please read it over.
Replaced Mischief with Harahel in the roster.
Due to the latest story post, I need to mention that this story is written in past tense. Please keep it consistent for the compilation.
Remniche is a good starting point if your character isn't in the middle of a journey. My intro post should have hopefully described what the city is like. It'd also be good to form two or three separate search parties and do different things in Vivi-Dream rather than bunching everyone together into one. The objective behind any search, however, is to find an artifact and solve a mystery before the location's influence can potentially corrupt Vivi-Dream entirely. The mystery can involve one of your characters, or of Vivi-Dream itself. I'm not concerned with which at this time.
Yes they are. The actual dreamer also feels a sense of deja vu when they meet a fellow Oneiros in the real world during waking hours.

Although in Hez's case, as I will be writing in the future, all she can remember is the moment before the car crash happened before lapsing into her coma. Obviously she hasn't returned to the real world for a whole year since.
