In the Ignavis Institute, an elite academy spanning all grades from kindergarten through high school and including post-secondary studies, the 50th floor was abuzz with activity. Several researchers examined results on various computer screens, printing pages upon pages of data and analyzing them. Nearby, three sleeping pods whirred and opened, allowing an anorexic woman, a fitness-obsessed young man and a teenage girl to wake up, and doctors removed a needle protruding from each of their left arms that had administered sedatives.

The trio was escorted into an office, where the chief researcher met them and scanned over each of their files. He was an older gentleman approaching his fifties, his blonde hair and beard slowly going grey, and his brown eyes sharp and intelligent. Yet, he seemed to have an aura as if he had little empathy for his test subjects.

“I appreciate all of you for partaking in this experiment. I would like to ask how your experiences were in the network,” the man stated, gesturing to the woman for her to begin.

“It was really depressing. I kept staring at myself in some mirror, and I couldn’t find my scale anywhere. But then I saw something white… I don’t know if it was a flower or a ball of light or what, but suddenly those horrible thoughts went away.”

“Has your appetite returned?”

“Yeah… I’m starving, actually. I want to go to the cafeteria as soon as possible and get some pizza. I haven’t had that in a long time, and I’m suddenly craving for it.”

“Very good. You’re next.”

The buff man explained, “I was on this endless road biking towards some number that always escaped me. But just like she said, something white overwhelmed me and I got off my bike before waking up.”

“How is your appetite?”

“It’s really good all of a sudden. I think I’ll go out with my girlfriend to that restaurant later tonight.”

“And you?” the researcher asked the teenager.

“I was surrounded by all of my favorite magazines in this girly room that had no doors. I kept reading over them, always feeling jealous about how glamorous those models looked. Then the white light they talked about broke through the wallpaper and engulfed me before I woke up.”

“Do you plan on continuing your bulimia after supper every night?”

“I don’t know about stopping altogether… But I felt someone crying for me to stop, and I feel like I’ve disappointed someone out there. I feel horrible for causing so much trouble behind Mom’s back, especially when she makes dinner every single night without complaining. Maybe I should help her out once in a while too.”

“That is very good news,” the man nodded. “I thank you for your feedback and cooperation in Project Soma. As promised, here is the reward for your cooperation.”

He handed the three subjects a check for $100 each and sent them on their way back down the elevator. After they left, the man returned to the facility, bypassing his subordinate scientists and entering his private office. It overlooked the entire city on this partly cloudy day and was complete with an oak desk, velvet carpeting, an in-built aquarium, and a small spa for his personal enjoyment. The only other person inside was a female nurse sitting next to a lone sleeping pod that had a 10-year old girl sleeping inside it. She kept watch on her vital statistics and taking care of necessary functions, while an IV of sedatives constantly fed into the child’s left arm.

“Good morning, Dr. Ignavis,” the nurse addressed him. “How did the project fare last night?”

“Splendidly, although it is still a little risky to expand the network too far at this point. The hardware still doesn’t have enough space to maintain so much cranial activity at once. Last night’s subjects failed to manifest as Oneiros – they only created negative zones that could have encroached the network. Several other subjects, including Cordelia, were able to cure the volunteers of their eating disorders.”

“That’s fantastic, doctor! Your wife’s theory is slowly coming into fruition, isn’t it?”

“Yes, it is. Project Soma will eventually cure any mental disorders by connecting everyone’s minds into a single network. People will finally be able to ‘feel’ each others’ emotions. The selfish ideal of an ‘individual’ will fade, and the much-needed sense of ‘community’ will evolve among homo sapiens.”

“It’s such a wonderful concept. I don’t understand why your wife and her sister abandoned the project in its prototype phase.”

Dr. Ignavis didn’t respond. He stared at the blonde-haired child as she slept peacefully in her pod. He fondly stroked the fiberglass cover and murmured, “Keep up the good work, Cordelia. Your mother would be very proud of you…”
Well, I'm hosting an original dreamscape RP if you would like to join that one. We're kind of short on players since it's just myself and three others -> Vivi-Dream

I'm even compiling the posts into readable chapters that you can find here -> FictionPress: Vivi-Dream

If you're not interested, then pitch something that we could do for an original story. I'm not really gung ho about romance unless it's a hetero couple. I'm not against same-sex relationships, but I'm not used to writing them.
Chaotic Blue followed the streets of west Engine City, remaining invisible as she hopped from structure to structure, whether they were buildings, houses, signposts, trees, traffic lights or lighting fixtures. She avoided vehicles as the dull thud of her landings would attract unwanted attention from the drivers. Eventually, she reached Senator Tilley's address in Piston Heights, the affluent part of the city where politicians and celebrities called home.

The ninja perched herself on a thick tree branch just outside his bedroom window, where she saw a woman lying in bed while staring at a photo and bawling silently. She looked emaciated and exhausted from so much crying and worrying, which Chaotic Blue assumed it was related to the family's missing daughter. It looked like Senator Tilley wasn't home for the evening, so she opted to speak with the woman instead.

She hopped onto the balcony and slowly creaked the sliding door open, scaring the bedridden wife as she exclaimed, "Who's there!?"

"Do not be alarmed. I am not here to bring harm upon you," Chaotic Blue murmured, remaining invisible.

"W-What do you want!? Are you one of those superhero alien freaks I've been hearing so much about!?"

"Call me what you will. I have come because I heard about Jennifer TIlley's disappearance in Carter Hills."

"My daughter...? Where did you hear that from!?" the woman panicked, reaching for the phone.

"If you wish for me to bring closure to your pain, you would be wise to put that phone down and listen to what I have to say."

The two women remained silent for a short while, the wife unsure of what to do. Chaotic Blue waited patiently until the stricken lady reluctantly put the phone down and asked, "What is it? Do you want to rescue my daughter?"

"For a price."

"Then you're a mercenary?"

"Correct."

"Why should I have to pay you when there are plenty of other people willing to do the same thing for free?"

"There is no guarantee that those with good intentions will actually try to rescue Jennifer. They would have their own agendas and motives, which wouldn't involve your daughter. At least you can rest assured that I would be venturing in on your behalf. I cannot promise that I will return with good news, but any news is better than living life without answers. Investing in my services will be a guaranteed way to give you some measure of peace."

More silence. Then the wife sat up and asked, "How much do you want?"

"As my life will undoubtedly be put on the line, I ask for $500,000, with half paid up front and the remainder upon my return. I prefer cash only."

"Half a million... Would you have done the same for a poor family?"

"Indeed. Five cents from the impoverished carries as much value as 500 grand from the well-to-do. My rates reflect this country's inherently flawed caste system. Nothing more, nothing less."

"... Very well. Please give me a moment. My husband won't notice if I take some from his safe. I assume you're invisible right now, so where do you want me to put it?"

"Right here," Chaotic Blue knocked her knuckles against the nearest reading table. The wife left, then returned five minutes later with the promised money. The ninja gripped the cash, and to the wife it seemed to suddenly float before vanishing in her pocket.

"You will return with Jennifer, won't you? You won't bail out on me?" the woman asked fervently.

"I cannot earn my keep without honoring my contracts. I shall be swift as the wind and strike like fire for Jennifer. You must remain immovable as the mountain, and be as silent as the forest regarding our contract. So say Sun Tzu and Takeda Shingen, so we shall abide."

"I understand. Please come back with Jennifer, if you can. And... please take care of yourself as well."

"Duly noted," Chaotic Blue murmured, then slid the door shut and departed the same way she came.

Krile and Captain Stanson clenched their teeth in shock and repressed pity, and Krile rushed to her sister's side to help her to her knees.

"Ow ow ow ow... Aw man, that was awfully clumsy of me..." Krita moaned, covering her chin as it bled a little. Krile took out some cloths and bandages to treat the wound with Stanson's help. After Krita was certain she was okay, they stood back up.

"Well, we better get going," Krile said, then asked the knight, "Has my testimony been sufficient enough?"

"Yes. It wasn't necessary for you to endanger yourself, but I appreciate the effort all the same. Please take care of yourselves," Stanson said.

"Wait, what happened? What's going on here?" Krita asked. "I saw the core missing from the blastia, but I was stuck in line."

"Someone took the core right from under our noses while disguised as a repairman. I watched him the whole time and took chase. He surrendered the core to me but then escaped," her sister explained.

"Did he hurt you!? Are you okay!?"

"Do I look unwell to you?"

"Well, no..."

"Then everything is all right. The Stanson Brigade will handle things from here. More importantly, did you manage to sell everything?"

"Oh, that's right! Mr. Fardo accepted everything for 3000 gald! That's pretty good, don't you think?"

"I suppose that's sufficient enough until we reach Halure, or even Aspio. We could inquire the researchers as to whether or not they need any materials for their studies," Krile suggested.

"Good idea. Let's get moving before this heat murders us!" Krita exclaimed. "Aspio's caverns must be so nice and cool compared to this. Oh yeah, speaking of cooling down, do we have enough water for the trip?"

"I believe we used our last canteen before reaching Zaphias. Stocking up at the lower quarter's fountain would be prudent."

The twins bid farewell to Stanson and left the upper quarter, descending the slope that led to the middle quarter.
No, I'm not familiar with any of those series.
Would there be any issue to me writing a post every three days if there's no activity, just to keep the RP alive a little?
I've uploaded the first chapter to FictionPress, and I should be ready to do the same for the second later. Give it until tomorrow since it needs time to enter the search.

Also going to be posting my real-world intrigue stuff either today or tomorrow, depending on the activity today.

EDIT: Here's the link to the compilation -> FictionPress: Vivi-Dream. Enjoy!
I'm looking for someone who's interested in any one of the following fandoms:

Tales series (Tales of Phantasia, Tales of Vesperia, Tales of the Abyss, etc.)
Atelier series (Atelier Meruru, Atelier Ayesha, etc.; would be a slice-of-life type of RP)
PreCure, Sailor Moon, Magic Knight Rayearth, Madoka Magica, or magical girls in general
Wild Arms
Liar-Soft's Steampunk series (Shiei no Sona-Nyl, Shikkoku no Sharnoth, etc.)
Star Ocean
Battle Arena Toshinden (yes, I know the games suck, but I liked what little story it had)
Slayers
Disgaea
Touhou
Blazblue
Grandia
Crossovers and parodies of any of the above plus some series I didn't mention

I've made original characters and worlds for at least Tales, PreCure, and my own magical girls themed after colors and animals if you're willing to select characters I made up. As you can see, I'm more into JRPGs than anime, but I am familiar with many series. Feel free to ask if I know a particular series.
I'll watch this one to see how it goes.
