Who wants to do a danmaku battle against an original Touhou girl based off of the buruburu? It'd be modeled after an Extra Stage, and you can pick whichever existing Touhou girl you want or make up your own as long as it fits with the lore.

NAME: Osorezan Shiou
TITLE: One Who Fears and is Feared
AGE: unknown
APPEARANCE: need to draw her, but has one eye covered with a flowery eyepatch
SPECIES: Buruburu
ABILITY: manipulation of fear; turning phobias into real threats (as in danmaku)
OCCUPATION: hides in an abandoned nameless mansion in the underground
BIO: Osorezan Shiou is the sole resident of an unnamed mansion in the underground that not even youkai from the Ancient City or the Palace of Earth Spirits want to go to. Shiou was once a human girl who died from a violent and frightening murder on Youkai Mountain hundreds of years ago. She became a buruburu, a one-eyed ghost that frightens others and is likewise terrified of everyone. As Shiou was so scared of meeting anyone again, she retreated to the underground and holed herself up inside a forgotten mansion at the edge of the underground world. Many years passed and the underground remained sealed until Yasaka Kanako initiated the events in Subterranean Animism. The underground was reopened to the surface, and the activity that Shiou heard about with humans entering this world and sealed youkai reawakening has caused her to panic. Her fear spread from her attic into the mansion, and gradually seeped into the ground and air around the nameless mansion.

As Shiou's opponent, you are tasked with finding out why the underground's fairies are suddenly running wild with fright, causing them to behave more irrationally than before. Why is there so much frightful energy emanating from the farthest reaches of the underground? Brave the terror she is causing and calm Shiou's panicking before it spreads too far!
The original IC is listed in Casual here but depending on the complexity, it could be either in Freeform or Advanced.
This would be based on the Tales series (Tales of Phantasia/Symphonia/Vesperia/Xillia/Zestiria/etc.), with many elements borrowed from an original Tales-verse I had made a few years ago called Tales of Obscura (the first completed arc can be read here if you're interested, but I won't be borrowing anything beyond the locations and lore so don't worry about the characters). I originally wrote Obscura as a huge cross-reference homage to the series because I enjoy it so much, but writer's block got to me. Bleh. So I'll do the next best thing and convert it into an RP.

It takes place on a world called Sephira (named after the gald-making accessory, for those in the know) with three countries - Hieizou, Sumizome and Chesed (might change these names later) - and while war isn't prevalent, there's a lot of tension between the nations. Hieizou is a southern steampunk and Japanese-themed nation that doesn't have as much technology as Sumizome, the largest nation in the middle of the continent that is more European in nature. Chesed is very far to the north, and the other nations avoid it due to the rampant discrimination against the non-Human races, so it's more like pre-Mandela Africa.

Here, the regular Summon Spirits have their power converted into glyphs called Thauma (plural is Thaumae) that are tattooed upon children based upon a ritual everyone undergoes. First the town's pastor will determine what the child's elemental affinities are. Then the child goes to that respective Summon Spirit's temples and are granted those particular Thaumae. The Thaumae remains with them for life (it cannot be removed or changed) and they are able to manipulate those specific elements for combat or practical uses. This proves useful in determining the child's future occupation - those who can use wind are stationed at windmills, earth-users work in mines, and those with sound Thauma can pursue a successful singing career.

Each character is only able to use two Thaumae, preferably with good elemental affinities. Any more than that and elemental discord will occur in the person's body, killing them (plus to avoid god-moding). In addition, there are ten months in the year corresponding to each Summon Spirit. The Thaumae are as follows:

Undine Thauma (water + group healing)
Efreet Thauma (fire + strength boosting)
Sylph Thauma (wind + ability boosting)
Gnome Thauma (earth + defense boosting)
Celsius Thauma (ice - treated differently from water because Celsius can regulate temperature as well)
Volt Thauma (lightning)
Rem Thauma (light + strong individual healing)
Shadow Thauma (darkness)
Lorelei Thauma (sound/music)
Martel Thauma (nature/plants)

Some compatible elements include:

Undine + Celsius (freezing water)
Undine + Rem (healing water)
Efreet + Volt (fire element)
Efreet + Gnome (hot, raging magma)
Sylph + Volt (air element)
Gnome + Martel (earth and nature)
Volt + Shadow (lots and lots of darkness)
Rem + Lorelei (beautiful music that soothes the soul)

You get the idea. There are many combinations that can be made. However, the below five combinations are elementally incompatible, although it's not to say people can't use them. They're just practically unheard of:

Undine + Volt (water vs. lightning)
Efreet + Celsius (fire vs. ice)
Gnome + Sylph (earth vs. wind)
Rem + Shadow (light vs. darkness)
Martel + Lorelei (tangible vs. intangible / matter vs. concept / etc.)

Also made sketches for the glyphs here. Just ignore the last two at the bottom right. I badly need to update these, but you get the general idea.

No one has questioned the real meaning behind why Thauma exist... and, in typical Tales tradition, there is a sinister reason for it. The heroes' role would be to settle each nation's tensions before war breaks out, as well as discover why the Thauma system exists and put an end to it. For those who are familiar with Tales villains, this one will not be a good-hearted Extremist. ;)
I'm just prolonging the discussion about something that's not really the cause of the original problem... because, I found it enjoyable. I'm sorry if everyone else didn't, I'm being a massive asshat and being incredibly selfish. At least I'm being honest... If bluntly so.

And yes that means I'm sorry and now can we move on? (Uhuh I was the reason we were stuck in the first place but now that I've finished being a douchebag we could go on again)

As long as you understand the effect that had on the rest of us, I'm cool with it. Words are much more powerful than you think, and you best be careful how you portray yourself in the future.
I could have sworn that having enough knowledge of the English language to Roleplay properly would also include something as basic as knowing the difference between the two, but time and time again that's proven wrong.

Achievement Unlocked: Pissed everyone off in this forum.

I didn't really care how this was panning out but after reading that, I'm not staying in this RP nor will I RP with you in the future if you intend to continue this needless debate because this whole thing is proving how petty and closed-minded you are. Either stop right now and we'll go on our merry way, go take this discussion in a liveChat, or leave if you don't like how Vita is running this. I sure as hell am not staying if you're going to nitpick every bloody thing we do here, and I bet Vita wouldn't want to lose anyone else over this. Grammar Nazis are not fun to be around.
I'm hosting the Vivi-Dream RP and as it's stagnating, I am shouting out to anyone who would like to RP in an anime-styled D&D dreamscape story to feel free and join up. Just get caught up on the story and where we are at the moment before dropping on in. I'd really love to have more people participate, even if it's just one or two who are active.

And no worries, for those who want to don't want to wade through tons of posts, I'm compiling it into a readable story here.
